THE GEOGRAPHICAL REGIONS
The Great Plains Region, Wyoming
The Northern Great Plains Go Down Go Back
The Northwest Great Plains ecoregion (4C) encompasses the Missouri Plateau section of the Great Plains that is mostly not glaciated. It is a semiarid rolling plain of shale, siltstone, and sandstone punctuated by occasional buttes and badlands.
Rangeland is common, but spring wheat and alfalfa farming also occur. Native grasslands persist in areas of steep or broken topography.
Agriculture is restricted by the erratic precipitation and limited opportunities for irrigation.
