After parking in the parking lot, there is a .5 mile footpath south along the Gardner river to the hot springs.
It is no uncommon in the spring and early summer for the Garner river to be at flood stage and when this is the condition, the Boiling River hot spring will most likely be closed.
If the entrance to the Boiling River parking lot is closed for any reason, there is a picnic area on the west side of the highway across from the parking entrance.
