This Aerostar, the 1997 white jammer is now in it′s third year in my possession. This year began on Day 865 TG with the mileage on this jammer at 100,500 while I was in McAllen, Texas during my winter hiatus. Also, I spent much of my winter hiatus camping at Falcon State Park and some of my time camping at Falcon County Park.

Too, during these many years of wintering in south Texas, I have seen a change in the use of these two parks. Because they are located in the same vicinity, more of the winter Texans are choosing the free option of the county park over the requirement to pay for your stay at the state park. Granted, there is more amenities at the state park, such amenities which far surpass the quality of those at the county park, nevertheless, a much larger group of winter campers are opting for the free camping option,

In both of these parks located adjacent to Falcon Lake in south Texas, the green grass that was once very profuse in these parks is now nearly all dried up leaving not much more that sand, as some of the photos below will indicate. Even so, these two parks at the very bottom of Texas have been providing me for many years with a place to camp during my winter stay.

As the winter fades and the nights change from cold to warm, I return to my annual northbound migration and make it as far north as Tennessee and Hot Springs Arkansas, but a winter arctic blast forces me back to south Texas for the duration of the storm. Immediately after the southerly flight, I resume the northbound migration, first to north Texas, then northern New Mexico and finally from the four corners, I drive to the Pacific northwest to pick up my mail and other items that I have waiting there for me.

Including in the mail is my renewed Oregon Park Access pass providing me with ten days of free camping per month. After only a few days in the Rainshadow, I drive south to Oregon and begin my spring-summer camping portion of my annual migration.
