The Rocky Mountains, Colorado
The Sangre de Cristo Range Go Down Go Back
The Sangre de Chriso Mountains are a range of mountains located in south central Colorado, east of the San Luis valley and extends from Poncha Pass, elevation 9019 feet, near Poncha Springs, Colorado southward to the Culebra Range and Culera Peak, elevation 14,047 feet.
This Rocky Mountain cordillera or chain of mountains continues southward into the state of New Mexico just a short distance into the north central area, then rises quickly just above Taos, NM, to the highest mountain in New Mexico, Wheeler Peak at 13,161 feet.
