The Boreal Forested Highland is an ecoregion occupying the southern half of Yukon and much of northern area of British Columbia. Within it is found Kluane National Park and Reserve, and a small portion of the southern range of Nahanni National Park Reserve.
Much of the population of this ecoregion is based in the city of Whitehorse and it contains most of the population of Yukon. The area of this ecoregion in British Columbia is extremely sparsely populated.
The main economic activity is mining, particularly of gold, which discovery in the region originally led to the Klondike Gold Rush. In addition to the rich mineral deposits, active industries exist in both forestry and tourism.
