Mississippi River Story:
The Mississippi river in the state of Arkansas flows along almost the entire eastern border of this state. The river created what is often referred to as the Delta of eastern Arkansas, which is part of the largest alluvial plain in the United States, which supports a large variety fauna, flora as well as aquatic animals.
This alluvial plain has many remnant wetlands as well as several large oxbow lakes, including the largest natural lake of Arkansas, Lake Chicot, weighing in at nearly 8 square mile in area.
