Mississippi River Story:
The Mississippi river in the state of Louisiana contains about 773 miles of this river′s total journey. The path in Louisiana begin at the northern border of Louisiana which is adjacent to Arkansas. South of Arkansas, the Mississippi river now forms the border between Louisiana and Mississippi, at least until the western bottom of the state of Mississippi at coordinates 30.9996099, -91.6367738, at which location, the Mississippi River enters the interior of Louisiana and continue in this state until the river exits into the Gulf of Mexico further south.
As the Mississippi River travels through the state of Louisiana, it passes through many historic river towns including: Vidalia, Morganza, St. Francisville, Baton Rouge, Plaquemine, St. Gabriel, White Castle, Carvile, Donaldsonville, Vacherie, Kenner and New Orleans. Within these towns, there are many locations, even kiosks, which tell the story of the area or town and often highlighting former plantations as well as many museums along the roads which line both sides of the river.
Probably, the most interesting as well as most glamorous of all the river towns in Louisiana is New Orleans. New Orleans is one of the oldest river towns on the Mississippi River and is definitely one of living history with some of the most amazing architecture, incredible music, rich culture and calorific culinary variety, specifically within the French Quarter.
South of the Crescent City, the river travels into Plaquemines Parish which is a narrow strip of land alongside the Mississippi River and it pushes out into the Gulf of Mexico.
