Cape Lookout, the middle cape is a sharp rocky promontory which extends One mile (1.6 km) perpendicular to the coast, and is approximately 0.25 mi (0.5 km) wide at its base, tapering as it extends outward from the coast. The cape is part of the state park with the campground just north of the cape along the beach.
