The full moon in August is to many indigenous people the time when the sturgeon in the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught. Other indigenous people called it the Green Corn Moon.
The night of the August full moon find myself atop Washington Pass overnighting in the trailhead parking lot. When I try to take photos of the moon tonight, it is so bright that my camera has a hard time focusing. I am glad that I was able to take photos two nights ago when I was in Oak Harbor.
About fourteen days from this moon is the 2017
Total Eclipse of Sun. I am in Rock Springs, Wyoming when I see this full moon and not long from now, I will dive to Burris, Wyoming to get into the Path of Totality for the total eclipse.
