The Solar Saros Series 145 Go Down Go Up
The solar saros series 145 began with a partial eclipse on 04 January 1639, has a total of seventy-seven events, and will end with a partial eclipse on 17 September 3009/. This saros series has already completed all 16 events of the first three divisions and is currently in division four: the forty Total eclipse events.
The total eclipses are in division four which began on 29 June 1927 with event number 17 having a duration of fifty seconds and have increased until present with the last total at 2 minutes and 40 seconds. The duration will continue to increase until 25 June 2522, with 7 minutes and 12 seconds, after which the duration of eclipse will decrease until the end of division four on 09 September 2648 with event number 56 having a duration of 2 minutes and 48 seconds.

Solar Saros Series 145: Eclipse Divisions
The eclipses of saros series 145 are separated into the following divisions:
1. 14 Partial eclipse (1-14) begin on 04 January 1639 through 26 May 1873.
2. 1 Annular eclipses (15) event occurred on 06 June 1891.
3. 1 Hybrid eclipse (16) event occurred on 17 June 1909.
4. 40 Total eclipses (17-56) are from 19 June 1927 through 09 September 2648
5. 21 Partial eclipse (57-77) are from 29 September 2666 through 17 April 3009.

Solar Saros Series 145 Duration and Current Division
This saros series contains 77 events which repeat every 18 years, 11 days. Currently, saros series 145 is in division four, the total eclipses and the next event will be number 23 on 01 September 2035 with a total eclipse having a duration of 2 minutes and 54 seconds.

The 2017 Journey, Event 22, Total Solar Eclipse Go Down Go Up
21 August 2017, Total Solar Eclipse
On Monday, 21 August 2017, there was a total solar eclipse of the sun, the first total solar eclipse to cross the continental United States from coast to coast in nearly 100 years. Were you in the Path of Totality? This remarkable event did not wait on anyone, you had to be in place and ready when it happened.

The Path of Totality
Notice the map directly below; you will see in the middle of the path, the times of the duration of the eclipse. This shows how long the totality lasted in different locations across the continent.
The blue dot is Burris, Wyoming where I was able to locate and see the total eclipse. This was the first total eclipse that I purposely traveled to get into the path. Previous total eclipses that I had experienced were during a time of my life when I did not know about the path or was not in a position at that time to travel to the path, and was only able to see a partial eclipse.
Those who were not in the path of totality did not see a total eclipse, but only saw the percentage of partial eclipse as shown on this map.

(m5pr-sun-pathoftotality) The Path of Totality
The longest time of eclipse in any location was two minutes and forty seconds, which was between western Missouri and the Smoky Mountains National Park.

Where did the Path of Totality Begin?
Astronomers have predicted this eclipse decades in advance and like a mindless steamroller, the shadow of the moon plows its way through space toward a collision course with earth. The shadow arrived with perfect accuracy, to touch down at 16:48:33 UT in the north Pacific Ocean at local sunrise at or near: 39.74000° -171.58000°
At this location, the Sun actually rose while totally eclipsed, a sight few people, even most veteran eclipse chasers have ever seen. From what I have been told, to see a total eclipse sunrise is one of the most uncanny events ever to experiences.
The shadow of the moon upon the earth is caused by the tip of the umbral cone and once this shadow reaches the earth, nothing can disrupt this timeless dance of creation as it begins its supersonic speed race across the surface of the water. Then, at 10:15 a.m., local time on the Oregon coast, it make landfall and begin its transverse of the North American continent. When that occured, there was a strip of land about 70 miles wide called the Path of Totality where the shadow traveled from central Oregon across fourteen states to South Carolina, a trip across this continent in just one hour and forty minutes. Then, at two-fifty p.m. local time in South Carolina, the shadow exits the east coast into the Atlantic ocean.

After rising, I dress in my work blues and then begin work. I have two days left to finish the electric and plan to work long days to do so to be able to make it to the Path of the Total. Meals have been provided by Summer and her mom Leuanna for a couple of days and have been very tasty.
Early in the morning two days before the eclipse, I see a waning crescent Sturgeon moon.

Up early, start the jammer and continue east on SR 28 towards the path of totality. When I arrive at US 287, I turn north and drive into the path at about eight this morning. Soon after, I arrive in Lander, Wyoming where I stop at a ff-mart for coffee, breakfast burritos and check on my com.
Then, at nine, I leave the mart, gas up, buy a pair of eclipse glasses and continue my drive to Burris, Wyoming which is in the middle of the path and has two minutes and twenty-two seconds of shadow.
I arrive at US 26 turn east and drive thru Crowheart, and arrive in Burris at nine-forty this morning just about half an hour before the eclipse begins.

The Start of the Eclipse
By ten o'clock, I have my camera set and I am ready for the eclipse to begin with only minutes to spare. With my eclipse glasses on, I begin looking at the sun and see the fires indication of the encroaching moon in the upper right of the sun. When trying to photograph the eclipse, I immediately see the need for a filter for my camera and think to use the eclipse glasses which work fairly well. So, I begin using the glasses to both look at the eclipse and to photograph it.
However, the results are anything but what I have wished to achieve and realize that there must be an art to doing this photography correctly. 1

Into the Shadow
When the moon shadow arrives in Burris, Wyoming, it is the most unusual experience I have ever had. At the very moment of total, when the area goes dark, I hear the collective cheers of awe and satisfaction from numerous people somewhere south of me.
Looking up from my camera, I see that the entire area has dimmed considerable; I suppose it is likened to the amount or light there is during a full moon, and the glow of the sun has colored the horizon as if it was the suntouch.
I continue taking photos of the totality and the sunglow on the horizon.

An Umbraphile with 142 Seconds and Counting
I only have time to take just a few photos during the totality, and then before I realize it, the moon shadow has left Burris, Wyoming for places east and the sun comes back into view.
This is the strangest phenomena I have ever seen and methinks these one hundred and forty-two seconds within the moon shadow have caused me to become an umbraphile (Latin: shadow lover), and wish to experience this again in the future.

Into the Sun
As if suddenly, the sun was back and the shadow was gone, moving at breakneck speed somewhere to the east of my position. Methinks, that all happened so quickly and the next time I prepare for a total eclipse, I will make sure that I am so much more prepared for it.

With the shadow having moved east, I pack out, start the jammer and head east on US 26 to Rivertown, Wyoming where my friend Summer has told me is a health foods store. I locate the store, walk inside and begin looking for a natural supplement to help remove the yeast over-growth I have long have been troubled with.
I talk with Sheryl and she suggest one product that contains prebiotics, probiotics, and enzymes that consume yeast. I have heard about and used each of the ingredients seperately but had not use one product containing all three ingredients. I believe this supplement will help me to improve my health.

Into the Traffic
When I had made plans to come and view this total eclipse, the media had been dubbing this event as The Great American Eclipse and now as I leave Rivertown, Wyoming, I experience something else that comes with any major even such as this has been, The Great American Traffic Jam.
I leave Rivertown on SR 789 south towards Lander and enter bumper to bumper traffic in town just waiting to get on the highway. After about an hour of wait, just to get on the state route and drive south, I then continue in heavy traffic for a long time.
The traffic continues to be heavy and at a snail's pace for over ten miles until after driving through Hudson where the speed increases slightly, to about twenty mile per hour.
Then the traffic slows down again before Lander, taking me almost an hour to drive through this town and south on US 287 to the junction of SR 28. Once I begin driving south west on SR 28, the pace pick up and we are running this route at the speed limit even thought the traffic is still heavy here.
