Nearing the Treeline
As more and more areas become treeless, I come upon the elevation at which separates where the trees can continue, but any higher, it is evident that the tress will loose the battle against the cold, the snow and the wind. Above this elevation, known as the Treeline, is the elevation when the mountaintop cold season is too much for the trees to fight against.
Any trees which do grow at this high elevation on the mountains must survive long harsh winters lasting seven, eight or more months and then have an extremely short growing season. The growing season is just too short for most trees to continue here.
At this point on the path, when I stop to take photos, most of the evergreen trees are below me and what I see nearly entirely is the tops of the evergreen trees.
When bare spots increasingly become the prevalent topography, those trees remaining will take on a misshapen appearance, bent, broken and twisted looking.
This misshapen appearance of treeline trees, I have always considered, not ugliness, but a form of art from creation.

Finally, at about 10000 feet in elevation, the dark green forest has departed from the topography entirely, I have reached the place on the mountain above which trees can not survive what the mountain presents.
At this point, it is not required to search for view points, as now everywhere provides unimpeded view of the vista of mountain in all directions.
