Personal Note From the Owner
In this day and age, with all the law suit crazy people in this world, we here at TWJ must needs put the above information in it′s place for everyone′s protection.
Yes, it has become a sad state of affairs when doing such becomes not only necessary but also the norm.
Too, you will see the above Important, Before Continuing information repeated on each and every page where we are endeavoring to provide help to our neighbors.

The Essential Nutrients
What is an Essential Nutrient
An essential nutrient is a nutrient required for normal physiological function that cannot be synthesized in the body, either not at all or not in sufficient quantities, and thus must be obtained from a dietary source.
Apart from water, which is universally required for the maintenance of homeostasis in all humans, essential nutrients are indispensable for various cellular metabolic processes, for maintaining tissue and for organ function.
In the case of humans, there are nine amino acids, two fatty acids, thirteen vitamins and fifteen minerals that are considered essential nutrients.

The Nine Amino Acids
What are Amino Acids?
Amino Acids are a simple organic compound containing both a carboxyl functional group (COOH) and an amine functional group (NH2), as well as a side chain designated as (R) that is specific to the individual amino acid.
Twenty percent of the human body is made up of protein. Protein plays a crucial role in almost all biological processes and Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins as well as polypeptides, which is a chain of many amino acids. The elements found in all amino acids are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen.

The Two Fatty Acids
There are many types of fatty acids available in much of the food we eat and are both important dietary sources of fuel and they are important structural components for cells. However, what are considered to be the most important fatty acids are the essential fatty acids.
Essential fatty acids are those that humans body is not able to synthesize but must obtain from food to maintain good health. Different from other fatty acids that only act as fuel, essential fatty acids are required for many biological processes.
Too, essential fatty acids should not be confused with essential oils, which are only essential in the sense of being a concentrated essence.

The Fifteen Minerals
A mineral is a naturally occurring chemical compound, usually of crystalline form and originate in the earth and can not be made by living organisms. This inability to be made by living organisms is call abiogenic (not produced by life processes).
In the context of nutrition, mineral is a chemical elements required as an essential nutrient by organisms to perform functions necessary for life. Most of the minerals acquired by humans come from eating plants or animals and from drinking water.

The Thirteen Vitamins
What are Vitamins
Vitamins are organic compounds, present in small amounts in food and which are essential to normal metabolism. There are 13 vitamins your body needs. Most vitamins come from the food we eat, but vitamin D can be synthesize by the human body when it is exposure to sunlight.
The list of vitamins are A, C, D, E, K and the B vitamin group which include: biotin, folate, niacin, pantothenic acid, riboflavin, thiamine, B-6 and B-12.
To learn more about how the thirteen vitamins are divided into these two types, click the above blue Vitamins link.
