Held captive by circumstances, and despite being free to leave and begin the journey on whenever I desire, my circumstances prevent it as there are still several tasks that must needs be done prior to my departure from this island.
So, during that time in which my presences is required, or which I must remain relatively close near by, I spend this time getting myself prepared for the longer journey by going through my burden to dispossess even more of the things that I still call necessary.
Preparation for Cold Showers
Like many days that have gone before, and many more to come, the sunglow awakens me. Previously, I would rise, walk inside from my sleeping birth in the jammer to prepare my breakfast and then take a hot shower.
Methinks, I did so enjoy the hot water on my body, but when I turned off that hot water and proceed with a cold shower, I knew that these days would mark the last cold shower that I will voluntarily take. From now on, all of my cold showers will be a need.
Further, any future hot showers will be a rarity and truly appreciated.
Waiting for the Journey On
While still being held captive by my circumstances, the start of the journey on will begin by my taking several tours in the Windjammer to test it′s road worthiness. I have been wanting to drive into Oregon along the coast and methinks, now is the time to do so.
However, not long into the journey, I begin to have thoughts about replacing the Windjammer. However, I endure and after talking with my friend Joe, I have the water pump replaced while in Tillamook, Oregon.
Then, as I am getting close to arriving back in my home territory, the transmission dies and there is need to have it repaired as well. After that costly repair, I return to sojourn on the rock.
Sojourn on The Rock
Arriving back on Whidbey Island, I stay here for a month and begin to look closer at the components on the van as to their road worthiness. Too, I visit with friends and continue taking care of the business I still have operating.
Ready to try a Second Tour
Again, I strike out on the road south to Oregon and northern California to a bird sanctuary for some photos. From
Tule Lake Wildlife Reserve, I take a side trip to the
Great Basin National Park in Nevada and then back to Tule Lake where I am able to take many photos of the birds their.
The Return to the Rock
Leaving northern California, I drive through central Oregon to return back to Whidbey Island. However, after a short stay on the Island, I strike out south again towards Oregon, stopping at a few places in Washington on the way before returning to camping on the
Oregon coast.
During this tour, I stop for the
District convention in Salem Oregon before returning back to Whidbey Island.
Serving a Purpose
All of these short tours are serving a valuable purpose, primarily, to bring the jammer up to normal cruising potential. However, what is so much more important to me is to bring my possessionship down to a level that makes travel easier.
Yes, eventually, I would like to acquire need level once again, and must needs keep working on this goal until obtained.
