The campground is located on the south side of Wright Patman Lake, an embankment lake on the Sulphur river, which is a tributary of the Red River.

Access to the state park and campground is from US 59 just north of Queen City, Texas. Use SH FM 96 northwest to SH FM 1154 north to the park entrance.

So far in my travels about the state of Texas, I have found this campsite, at $14.00 per night is the second least amount charges for an electric site. The only one that I have found that has electric campsites for less than here is Abilene State Park at $12.00 per night. Too, I endeavor to visit these two campsites every year when I pass near to them as I travel in my migrations north and south.

This camping area is located in the eastern side of the park near the end of road P42A and is on a rise overlooking Lake Wright Patman through a thick mixed evergreen-hardwood forest. All campsites in the White Oak Ridge area are back-in sites which have electric and water connections.

The restroom-shower house is located on the left at the bottom of the ridge just after entering the camping area and has a steamy hot shower water temperature.

This camping loop is also located in the eastern side of the park on road P42A but further to the south of and just before arriving at the more northerly located White Oak Ridge. All campsites in the Wilkins Creek loop are pull through campsites which have electric and water connections.

The restroom-shower house in the Wilkins Creek loop, is located directly across from campsite number 41 and the water in this shower house is medium hot water. The park RV dump station is in this loop, located behind the restroom-shower house. (33.229831, -94.236119)

This camping area is located in the western side of the park on road P42, and is the location for all of the full hookup campsites.

As of yet, I have not visited this camping area due to not needing the sewer hookup nor wanting to pay the extra nightly fee, so, I do not know what the temperature of the shower water is. However, according to the park map, many of the park amenities can be found in this area including the playgound, vollyball and horseshoe courts, and more.

Arrived at this state park yesterday around noon and found a sign stating, Rangers are at Lunch, See you at One o'clock. So, I park, get out my phone, watch a few videos and in no time the Closed Sign is removed and I walk inside to get my camping permit. Then, I drive to campsite number 42, park, connect my electrical cord and plug in my battery to be charged.

Not long after that, I step out of the jammer, open the rear lift door, grab my shower bag, towel and walk to the shower house for a hot shower.

As the morning nears the mid-day, I pack out and drive to the White Oak Ridge camping loop to check to see if the shower water temperature is still as hot as it was in my previous visits.

And Yes, the White Oak loop shower house does still have steamy hot water; just a few degrees hotter than the Wilkins Creek Loop showerhouse.

Afterwards, I drive out of the state park and point my jammer westward to return to the centerline of the Path of Totality where I will continue to await the upcoming total solar eclipse.

Upon arriving at campsite number 41 in the Wilkins Creek Loop, directly across from the restroom and shower house, I plug in, connect all of my batteries and the turn my computer on to see if I have internet. Surprisingly, I do even though the signal is not very strong, but at least I can upload to my website. Once I have updated my journal for today, then, I then walk to the shower house for some hot water.

At ten-thirty this morning, I leave the w-mart, and back tract south on US 59 to Queen City, Texas and then turn right and drive west on SH FM 96 to SH FM 1154, then right again and north to the state park.

Upon arriving at the headquarters, I go inside and tell the ranger that I have pre-registered for a campsite in White Oak Ridge Loop. Once I have got that taken care of, I drive to my site, park and plug in. Later, I drive down to the shower house to take a hot shower, after which I return to the campsite and take a nap. Then at four this afternoon, I begin my supper preparation by first lighting a charcoal fire, then chopping and wrapping the food in foil.

Later, after the sun sets, there is a golden glow in the sky over the ridge in the western sky.

In the morning, I arise, walk to the mens room, and upon returning to the campsite, I take out my camera for a few photos of the campsite.

Awake, open up the jammer, climb out of the jammer and begin preparing my breakfast. As I am heating the water, my next door neighbor, Jim, says hello and I return the greeting. He asks me if I have coffee and I say Yes, do you have some? to which he replies Yes as well. When my breakfast is finished, I walk to his campsite so that we can talk some more. Soon, he is packed up and drives out of the campground. I return to the jammer an begin updating my journal entry.
