This is the tallest lighthouse in Oregon and is located near the mouth of the Yaquina river. This light was made in Paris in 1868 and shipped to Oregon. When it was set up on site, a two story keepers house was also built. Also, the lighthouse had an adjoining oil house. In 1923, a one story keepers house was built somewhat to the east and in 1938 a one story building replaced the original two story dwelling. In 1984, all of the buildings, except for the light were demolished.
It is active with an identifying light characteristic of two seconds on, two seconds off, two seconds on, and 14 seconds off.
The light still uses it′s original first order Fresnel lens which is visible 19 miles out to sea.
