QUIRE ELEVEN CHAPTER FOURTEEN
The Quest for the Solace, Part Seven

On Loving Neighbor as Self Go Down Go Up
Upon the Turning of a New Year
This Journal page, when it has begun has found me in the year 2023, not far into the first month, and still in my southernmost Sojourn. Methinks that I must needs be still overnighting in the d-mart parking lot and spending the warm days inside of the nearby w-mart,
Yes, as in several previous years, despite being in a city, I have found this location to my liking, providing the basic necessities for me. I hope and pray that in my search for a replacement vehicle, I will come to acquire a good prospect.
Too, unlike many recent years, the temperature here along the Rio Grande valley has been unusually warm and even

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, park the jammer, walk inside with my computer bag and begin my day of first, checking my com and then then pounding keys while I sit on the hot coffee.
Later, I connect with Zoom to the meeting and listen to the Circuit Overseer give a wonderfully encouraging talk about having faith and the need to continue to increase it. After the meeting, I return to the key pounding and continue until after it becomes dark, when I pack out and drive IH 2 to Harlingen. Upon arriving a the downtown exit, I turn left under the interstate and the drive to the Cracker Barrel to park for the night.
Since it is still early, I go inside the restaurant and have supper. Then, I walk back out to the jammer and drive it in the rear of the building to park for the night. It is still a bit warm and leave one of the side windows open.

Awake, drive to the front of the restaurant and go inside to comb my hair. Then, upon walking back out to the jammer, I see Frank parked in his work truck next my van. I walk up to him and we give each other a hug. I have known this brother for a very long time and we just do not get to see one another enough. We continue to talk for a short time.
He tells me that he has sold his business and is now working as an employee for the new owner. He says that he did this because we are so close to the end of this system. I ask him if he got a good price and he answers yes, that he was able to pay off all his debts and have a little money left over, to which I respond, I did the same thing when I retired and now, I am debt free and have money in the bank. He then says he must needs go back to work so we say goodbye and we both leave the parking lot.
I drive a short way to the w-mart, park on the adjacent street, walk inside with my computer bag and begin pounding keys. Then, after a day inside the air conditioned cafe, I pack out, drive to a restaurant for something to eat, and then drive to my overnight parking space for the night.

Winter Sojourn, Day 18
Overnighting in a parking lot
After another warm night, I rise, dress in my fall blues, step outside to check the coolant and must need add half a quart. Then, after closing the hood, I look up to see the sunglow bright on the horizon, so use my phone to take one photograph. Then, I climb back into the jammer and drive to the w-mart for coffee, com, computer and air conditioning.
When the sun has set, when the sky is absent of light, when the grackles are cawing loud, when I am hungry for my food, I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the Chipotle restaurant and have my evening meal. After eating, I drive to my place to overnight, park, climb into the rear of the jammer and get comfortable.
(Day 604 TN) 64°F. 6:00 am, cloudy and humid
Winter Sojourn, Day 19
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, step outside to add some coolant to the radiator, and then drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I spend another day inside the air conditioned cafe while outside the temperatures rise into the 80s. Too, I say inside until well after the sun sets and only then do I venture out of the cooled area at the table that has been my haunt for several days now.
Leaving the cafe, I first stop at the burger place called What for my evening meal, of which never includes cheese, French fries and soft drink due to the fact that I have learned of the danger of all of that fat, salt and sugar contained within them. Instead I only have a double meat with all the vegetables and extra onions. After eating, I then drive to the place where I overnight and retire for the night. Again, it is quite warm tonight, much warmer than I prefer it to be and if this continues for much longer, I will be leaving the valley to drive as far up the coast as Corpus Christi, Texas, where after having checked the temperatures, have found it to be in the low 50s at night there. Still, before I make any move northward, I will stick around here for a short time longer in hopes that the heat wave will stop.

Winter Sojourn, Day 20
Overnighting in a parking lot
After a very warm night, I arise, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, walk inside with my computer bag and set up at the middle table. Then, I walk up to the counter to order my black coffee, with which I site down, turn on my computer and begin pounding keys while sipping on the hot coffee. I check the temperature outside and find it to be in the high 60s. I stay inside all day again until after the sun sets before leaving the cafe to seek for food and sleep.
Once in the parking lot where I will be overnighting, I find that the temperature has cooled off tremendously and welcome the change. I close up all of my windows, climb into the back of the jammer and get into the horizontal for the night. When I check the weather on my phone, I find that the lower temperatures will last through this weekend but the high 80s will be back on Monday, so I decide to stay at least until then.

Winter Sojourn, Day 21
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, start the jammer and slowly pull out of the parking lot. I then drive the half mile to the w-mart cafe for coffee, com and computer.
I continue here all day and long after the sun sets, I pack out and drive to the west side of the interstate where I have been stealth parking for a couple of weeks.
(Day 606 TN) 38°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Winter Sojourn, Day 22
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to the coldest morning for a long time, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for my coffee, com and computer. I spend another day pounding the keyboard trying to get more of the current update to my website done. In the afternoon, I take a couple of breaks for some video viewing.
While watching one video this afternoon, I saw an expression that I really connected with, You are only as big as the dreams you live. I know that the word are not mine, however, in my heart, they are so mine.
Once again, long after the sun sets, I pack out and return to my regular evening routine under the high interstate overpass.

Winter Sojourn, Day 23
Overnighting in a parking lot
My alarm awakens me this morning and I arise, get dressed and check the coolant level, which requires two quarts. This waning level continues to show me that I still have a coolant leak, still have a need to replace the van and still have a need to pray constantly for direction and help. I continue here the entire day while outside the temperature rises into the mid 80s. I keep working on updating more pages and then shortly after the sun set this evening, I pack out, drive to the place called what and then to the d-mart for another gallon of coolant for the jammer.
Afterwards, I drive to my location where I will overnight for one more night. At first, it is very windy and the temperature does not feel too warm, however, as the night continues into the morning, the wind ceases and it becomes somewhat sultry for the entire mornings hours.

(Day 609 TN) 65°F. 7:00 am, sunny and clear
Winter Sojourn, Day 24
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the d-mart to purchase a gallon of coolant, some groceries, and then drive to the interstate access to get onto IH 63E where I drive north out of Harlingen, Texas on my way to the Corpus Christi area where I plan on staying for a few days.
After a couple of hours of driving time, and with the jammer engine only heating up once, after which I stopped in Raymondville, Texas and waited for it to cool down so that I could add coolant to the radiator. Then, I was able to drive, with it not overheating again, all the way to Robstown, Texas where I exited the interstate and drive down Northeastern street to one of the cafes where I have stopped before to spend time in the air conditioning.
Then, when the sky becomes dark once again, I pack out, drive to the d-mart and set up for another night here in south Texas, only now, even thought I am no longer at the extreme Bottom of Texas, I am still in what I do refer to as the Bottom.
Bottom of Texas
For a very long time, I have considered that the Bottom of Texas is defined by the twenty-eighth parallel, one which enters Texas from the east just below Goose Island state park and through the city of Rock Port, which city is about thirty miles north of Corpus Christi, Texas. From the coast, the twenty-eighth parallel crosses south Texas and arrives at the Rio Grande River about 45 miles upriver of Laredo, Texas.
Therefore, in my mind, when I am below the line between Laredo and Corpus Christi, I have the feeling that I am still within the bottom of Texas, and when I move north of the 28 ° latitude line, I will have left the Bottom.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, go inside the d-mart to purchase additional coolant, return to the jammer and fill the radiator with coolant. Then, I drive into Corpus Christi on IH 37, take the crosstown exit and drive to the hf-mart to purchase some staples. When I arrive, the grocery is not open yet so I go next door to the w-mart, set up my computer, purchase a cup of coffee and sip on the hot brew while I pound on the keyboard.
Some time later, I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the hg-mart and go inside to purchase several packages of sprouted rice, which I have been out of for a few weeks. Only recently have I found out that I am eligible to go onto most military bases due to my status of being a service connected disabled veteran, so, I drive to the NAS so that I might camp in the RV park, but upon arriving on the base, I just do not like the way that the military base looked to me and instead, drive out of the military base, across the JFK causeway bridge and onto Padre Island.
After sitting in the w-mart on Padre Island, I find it to be infested with sand fleas, so after the sun sets, I drive back inland to Robstown to spend the night again. Once I arrive at the d-mart, I park in the same spot where I did last night

I stay here to eat and watch a few videos before I leave and drive to the d-mart where I park again for the night.

Winter Sojourn, Day 30
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, check the coolant level, start the jammer and drive to the w-mart for coffee, com, and computer. I spend the morning working to update more of my web site pages, and then in the afternoon, I begin getting ready for the meeting today.
After the meeting, I pack out, start the jammer and drive the twenty-nine miles to Lake Corpus Christi State Park where I check into an electric site for three nights. I am really surprised how filled this campground is, especially during the mid-week. I then drive to the site, set up my electric cord and turn on up my inside power strips. Then, I step outside and begin preparing my evening meal. Once the meal is ready, I put away the kitchen, carry the cook pot into the back of the jammer and close all of the doors.
Once I am sitting at the desk, I begin eating my repast while I pound keys. Later, I put all of the dishes in a pile on the floor and climb into the sleeping bag to get horizontal and watch a few videos until I become sleepy.

Awake, dress, gather some clean clothes, my shower bag and step outside to walk to the shower house for a soak in the hot water. After my shower, I step out of the shower building and see a park ranger with cleaning tools in his hands, whom I say hello to. We talk for a time and as always, I endeavor to steer the conversation towards the subject of reading the Bible, which Danny tells me that he only recently purchased a new Bible. I give him one of my TWJ cards and invite him to go online to visit my website, to which he says that he will.
Leaving the shower house, I walk back to the campsite, open the rear lift door and get out my cook pot to boil some water. When the kettle has steam venting, I pour some into my coffee cup, some into my tea cup and the rest into my cup of Daystart. I put the three cups into the jammer on top of the desk and then step back out to put the cook pot away. Finally, I climb back into the jammer and begin pounding key while I am eating my breakfast.
A little while later this morning, David sends a text to tell me hello and we text for a short time. After that, I go back to my pounding keys on my web pages and at about two th is afternoon, I become hungry again, so, instead of cooking, I get out a can of tuna and add to it some chopped celery, green onions, red bell peppers, spices and olive oil, stir it up and and then enjoy the tuna salad with what remains of my hot tea I made this morning.
Then, at five this evening, I find out that I have to move across the loop road to campsite #13, the I had misunderstood which campsite that I was actually assigned to. It was an easy move, just unplugged, put my garbage inside and drove to the new campsite. After I was plugged back in, I walked down to campsite # 18 to say hello to Joe and Carmen who are camping in their miniature tear drop trailer. I share the TWJ card with them, tell Jo that I have over one hundred campgrounds that I have reviewed and he asks me, How much does this cost for me to use it?
I tell Joe, Nothing, it is free. He then says, Oh, thank you? Carmen then says, He just now finally got it, I was already understanding what you were saying. I tell him about Neches Bluff dispersed camping, show the review of the campground using my phone and then Joe says, I will check this out while he puts my card in his wallet. Afterwards, I walk back to the jammer while the light of day fades from the sky, climb back into the rear and resume my key pounding.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, step outside and open up the rear lift door to retrieve my shower bag, towel and some clean clothes. Then, I walk to the shower house to get into the hot water. After returning to the jammer, I get out my stove and tea pot to boil some water. Then, I make my regular morning three cups, after which I put away the kitchen, then climb back inside the jammer to pound keys while I eat my breakfast and sip on the hot coffee.
After putting away all of my gear back into their places, I unplug and drive out of the state park, through Mathis, Texas, then onto IH 35 and drive south until I arrive at the IH 69E exit and drive south to the first exit, the Northwest Blvd and then turn west to drive to the w-mart. Once inside, I pound keys until after it becomes dark outside, when I pack out to the jammer, and then drive back east on Northwest Blvd to the w-mart.
Then, long after the sun sets, I drive east on Northwest Blvd and into the d-mart parking lot, thus returning to the parking lot overnighting routine.

Awake, walk into the d-mart to purchase a gallon of coolant and a couple gallons of spring water, after which, I drive to the w-mart and go inside for coffee, com and computer. I stay here most all day and I check again on available Ford Aerostar vans for sale and I locate one in Florida that looks like a good one. I then contact the owner and make a cash offer. I am still waiting for his reply.
It was late when Ozzie returned my communication giving me a counter offer for his van, which is eleven hundred dollars less than his asking price. I pray about this for some time and then reply that I would like to buy the van from him, but that it will take me about four days to drive there, this next Monday, because the total distance is 1400 miles from where I am currently. I then make my way to the d-mart, park in my regular space and then climb into the rear and get under the covers for the night.

Journey On, Day One
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, start the jammer and drive out of the parking lot back to Northwest Street, turn east and drive to the interstate highway where I turn connect with the north bound traffic. I drive northeast on 69E a short distance and then northeast on IH 37 to where IH 69E exits and continues northeast. At this junction, I will continue northeast on IH 69 for 215 miles until I arrive in Houston, where I drive through downtown and connect with IH 10 to begin my long drive west to Florida. I continues through Beaumont, into Louisiana and through Baton Rouge where I leave IH 10 and take IH 12 east from there. I continue along the north side of Lake Pontchartrain, a route that I have rarely ever taken. I continue east on IH 12 until after dark and when I arrive at Covington, Louisiana, where I get off the interstate highway and start looking for a w-mart to upload this journal entry when I complete it.
Instead of finding the regular cafe that I normally stop at, I find a small Cafe Du Monde that is in a shopping center. When I arrive at about seven-thirty this evening, it is already closed but I stop any way, take a photo of the cafe and then use my phone to create a hot spot to connect to the internet and upload my journal entry.
Then, I continue east a bit further east and pull off of the interstate and stop at a d-mart, climb into the rear of the jammer and get into the horizontal.

Awake, drive to the w-mart next door for a grande cup of coffee and an spinach fetta wrap and do not stop, but take the meal with me and get back onto the interstate highway and continue my drive east to Florida.
After another long day of driving, I stop at another d-mart where I park for the night, climb into the back and get into the horizontal.
I know, my journal entries for the last couple of days are not as long as I would normally write, but, this is because I have been putting all of my time into driving to the south of Florida where I will meet with Ozzie who has a 1996 Ford Aerostar for sale.

Awake, drive a short distance down the SH 40 and stop at a brand new w-mart for my coffee, com and computer. In a short time, I connect to the Centerville congregation using zoom for the meeting. Afterwards, I leave out of this cafe and continue south in Florida.
After a long day of driving, and after the jammer overheating twice during the last couple of hours, I finally pull into the d-mart parking lot and park for the night. I do not expect the engine to start again, but like every day on this trip, it has cranked up and run all day. Who knows, it may still have some life in it.

Journey On, Day Four
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 25.6248296, -80.3956206
Elevation: 10 feet
Awake, after walking into the d-mart, I then return to the jammer to contact Ozzie and tell him that I did arrive here in south Miami and that I am ready to make the purchase. While waiting for him to reply, I drive out to the w-mart, get online and work on my web site updates.
While sitting in the comfort of the air conditioned cafe, I get a text from Mr Hernandez, which states:
"Good morning Mr Buras, I don′t believe I mention that I was a police supervisor for the past 30 yrs until I retired a couple years ago. Working Robbery cases as a detective and supervisor, for 8 of those years, I observed alot of fraud cases. I also enjoyed putting them in jail. I would love to believe your story about a trip from Texas to Florida in a broken down Aerostar van and sleeping in a Walmart parking lot, but thats too much for me. Lets not waste each others time. This is the second attempt to defraud me with this van and I have decided to take it of the market and keep it."
Totally shocked and nearly devastated from his reply, I first say a prayer to Jehovah, after which, I carefully compose my reply:
"Dear friend, l assure you that I am not trying to defraud you. As for the Aerostar I am driving, please see attached photos, which I took yesterday so that I can sell it after I purchase a replacement vehicle. Too, I know that we are living in what the Bible calls the Last Days and says at 2 Timothy 3:13 "But wicked men and imposters will advance from bad to worse, misleading and being mislead." However, I assure you that I am not one of them. As for my story about driving three days from Texas to get here, it is absolutely true. I have been traveling and living in my vehicle for over ten years. Too, the entire time, I have kept an online journal. It is called The Wayfarers Journal. Please see this for yourself at.
"Further, to prove to you that I am telling you the truth, you can see my journal entries for not only the last three days that I have been driving here, you can see all of the entries ever since September 2009 when I began full-time travel and living in my vehicle."
He then replies that I am a very unusual person, one which really made it hard to believe that I was telling the truth. Further, he had his daughter check out my website and she came back to him to say, yes, he is telling the truth. He then agrees again to sell my his Aerostar, but says that he is taking his daughter and mother out for lunch and can come in the afternoon. He also said that his mother will follow him and he will ride back home with her. When he calls to tell me that he is on his way, I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the d-mart and set up in preparation for purchasing the 1996 Ford Aerostar vehicle. Setting up at the north end of the parking lot so that I will be far away from the store customers and not in anyone′s way.
When Ozzie arrives I hand him the money and a Bill of Sale for him to sign. He signs the paper, counts the money and then begins to describe the upgrades and other items he has done. He also gives me a folder of receipts and document that go with the van. After talking about the van, I tell him that I will take care of it for him. He then gets into the car with his mom and then leave the parking lot.
With a couple hours of daylight left, I begin transferring my things into the new Windjammer. I first take out the two rear bench seats and set then on the ground behind the van. Then, I transfer my clothing into the new van, stacking them up on the carpet. Next, then move the clothes rod from the 97 Aerostar and install it into the 96 Aerostar. Once that is done, I then hang all my clothes on the rod. I also begin moving other items into the 96 van. But soon, the light fades from the sky and I put away everything, close the doors and lock the 96 van. I climb into the 97, where I still have my desk and bed and then catch up on my journal writing. Then, at seven-thirty I chop some celery sprinkle on some spices and then add a can of tuna together with a little olive oil. After I stir it up, I begin eating my supper.
Afterwards, I get into the horizontal and can not believe how beat my body is after three long days of driving, then several hours of moving my thing from one van to the other.
(Day 624 TN) 74°F. 6:30 am, sunny and clear
Journey On, Day Five
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my summer blues and begin right away with my work of moving things. Wow, I have so much stuff. I continue working all day and at about noon, I put an add for the 1997 Aerostar in the Offer Up app. Immediately, I begin getting texts offering me my asking amount. I tell everyone that it will be available tomorrow morning and then first one that shows up with the cash in their hand will receive the keys.
I continue through the evening and into the dark hours, and I do not stop until everything has been move into the 1996 Aerostar, or what I will now call the jammer. The work is so strenuous that I just become totally tapped out. All day I keep drinking lots of water because the hot and humid conditions just dry me out. I commented about the hot temperature and the man says This is Cold to us. Once the 1997 Aerostar is empty, I finally climb into the jammer and get horizontal.
(Day 625 TN) 70°F. 6:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day Six
Overnighting in a parking lot
I receive a text from Mario who says he is on the way so, I continue with the final items to do with the 1997 Aerostar until he arrives. Later, I make the sale and I am watching Mario load the van on his trailer and shortly afterward two police officers show up. They tell us we have to leave the premises, something about the store does not allow overnighting, even though there are about twenty others who are doing the same thing. I tell the officer that Mario is going to put the van on his trailer and I am going to drive out of here back to Texas.
Ozzie stops by to see me off and to give me three hundred dollars, saying, This money is to help your on your Journey. I thank him and then tell him about the two officers who told me to vacate the premises. He says, You should have asked if they know Sargent Ozzie Hernandez and tell them you bought this van from him. I tell Ozzie that I did not think to do that.
Shortly after, when Mario leaves, then I pull out as well. I drive first to the DMV and see that there is about three to four hundred people in line. Needless to say, I do not stay but drive to another parking lot, get online to find out what other options I have to get a temporary licence plate. I call the DMV and find out that Miami has numerous contract license plate locations, and she tells me how to look online and find the locations. I find one about five miles away, go inside only to find out that they do not issue temporary license plates. However, the lady there gives me the address of one close by where I can get one printed and issued.
So, I drive there and I find myself saying several times because of the terrible traffic, I hate Miami! I finally arrive at the contract license plate location, pay fifteen dollars for the thirty day license plate. Next, I stop at the Chipotle restaurant for a salad, then to the Starbucks next door to work on my journal entries. Finally, I pack out of Starbucks to locate a place to overnight.

Elevation: 5 feet
Awake, dress in my summer blues, drive out of the parking lot and then turn west on SH 94 to where it exits the city and enters the everglade swamp lands. When SH 94 ends, I turn north on SH 97 and drive about five miles until I arrive at US 41, also locally known as the Tamiami Trail. When I learn about this local name I immediately think that it means "Not Miami" because some of the native American languages, the word Ta means "Not".
However, when I checked online, I found that this is not the case because Tamiami is in fact a portmanteau word, which is a blend of words in which parts of multiple words are combined into a new word, such as motel to combine motor and hotel and smog to combine smoke and fog. Thus this trail is the Tampa to Miami route, which two words have been combined into Tamaimi.
I follow the Tamiami Trail first east through the Everglades National Park and stop at one of the visitor centers. I purchase a sticker and then after a couple of photos, I return to US 41 eastward during which the transmission begins to slip so, I stop to check the fluid level and find it to need some fluid added. After returning the level back up to between the lines, I then continue east to Naples where the US highway turns northward which I follow all the way to Fort Myers. I stop in Fort Myers to check the level and find it to be low again, so I drive to an ap-mart to purchase some Trans-X fluid to add as I continue on my drive. After leaving Fort Myers, I continue north on US 41 until I arrive at an east-west route called Tuckers Grade and drive east a short distance to IH 75 where I turn north and continue on the interstate for the rest of my day.
After several hours, I pass Tampa and continue until I am too tired to drive so, I get off the interstate at Bushnell where there is a d-mart close to the exit.

Awake, check the fluid level and add a half of a quart. Then I start the jammer and begin my drive north out of Florida today. I start by leaving the w-mart and then I drive the short distance to IH 75 and continue north, stopping every 100 miles of so to add more fluid to top of the level in the transmission.
I call Joe from Tennessee and tell him about the fluid leak and how when it begins to slip, I stop and refill the fluid. Since he is a Ford mechanic, he tells me that it would be best to overfill it each time because this transmission has an overfill purge, so it is better to have more than less, and it would be better to refill the fluid before it begins to slip. Too, I ask him for a recommendation on where I can have the tranny repaired and he calls his go to tranny repair shop to get a quote, to which I ask him to please schedule the repair. Once I begin the routine that Joe recommended, I find that I can drive the car without hardly ever experiencing another slip. There were a couple more, like when I was coming down out of the mountains and had to apply my brakes. The fluid must have moved all to the front and the some of the bans did not have coverage.
I continue north out of Florida, into Georgia and stop about 75 miles short of Atlanta to sit in a w-mart and work on my computer until after dark when the traffic jams are all gone. In fact, it was not until nine this evening when I leave the cafe to continue north through Atlanta, and at his time, I find that Atlanta is not too bad of a city to drive through, even though there were a few spots that were hard to navigate. Then, after 355 miles of driving in Georgia and stopping every 75 to 100 miles to add transmission fluid, I finally enter Tennessee.
Today, I drive almost 600 miles for about nine hours and end up in Manchester, Tennessee, where I stop at a d-mart and park for the night.

Awake, drive across the street to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Wow, was it cold last night, it took all three of my blankets, a three-dog night. I stay inside all day due to the fact that it does not warm up much higher than 50° and it is in the 40s by the time it is dark outside. I contact David and work on scheduling a visit with him at the hospital in Nashville he is in but then he tells me that he is going to be back home by Monday, so I postpone my visit until he is back home. It will be easier on both me and the jammer not to drive into a large city.
I continue working on my website all afternoon and into the evening and it is long after the sunset when I drive back across the street for another cold night, only tonight is not suppose to be as cold as the last evening was, but only drop down to the high 30s. That, however will still likely be a three-dog night.
(Day 629 TN) 35°F. 8:00 am, sunny

Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, after emptying the last of one bottle of transmission fluid into the fill tube, I walk into the d-mart to purchase another quart of the fluid and upon walking back out to the jammer find I have locked my key inside the vehicle. I return to the store and sit down on a bench to call my insurance for a lockout service but they do not have someone in this area who will come to me. One of the employees tells me that I should call the police because they have the tools to unlock your car. So, I call the police and not long after, the officer arrives and in just a few minutes later, he has the door open. I thank him for his service and then climb into the jammer to begin my day.
From the d-mart, I drive across the street to the w-mart, park, walk inside with my computer, purchase a cup of coffee and sip on the hot liquid while I work on my journal entry. After I finish my second cup, I pack out and return to my driving, first north on IH 24 to IH 840 where I turn west and drive to US 31 were I turn south and drive a few miles to the first stand alone w-mart where I pull in, go inside and set up my computer to continue pounding keys for this day.
I do contact David and find that he is home now after another stay in the hospital of trying to get the better on his cancer. However, he is really nauseated from his latest treatments and is spending a lot of time sleeping.
Later, I pack out, drive south on US 31 to Spring Hill and find a dark and empty parking lot where I will park for the night. I climb under my three blankets and close my eyes.

Journey On, Day Eleven
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 35.7414655, -86.9392617
Elevation: 721 feet
Awake to another very cold morning, dress in my winter blues, step outside to add fluid into the transmission fill tube, then climb back inside to drive to the nearby w-mart that I had seen last night when I drove into this parking lot. However, before I can drive, I have to turn on the defroster to melt the sheet of ice on the outside of the windshield and even use my hands on the inside to help melt the frozen dew. Once I am driving, I drive to the cafe, purchase a cup of coffee, something to eat and then sit down at my table to check my com and begin pounding the keys.
Then, at about ten this morning, I drive to Columbia, stop in the town square and go into the license plate office hoping to transfer my title and acquire plates to us for my trip to Washington. However, the lady there says I need an envelope with my name and address on it to prove that I live in the county. She explains that I can not transfer the title without some proof. I then tell her why I wanted to have licence plates due to the temporary plates expiring at the end of this month and she tells me to just tell any law enforcement officer that I am still working my way back to Washington.
I then leave that office and drive further south on US 31 until I arrive at SH 50 where I turn right and head east to the next w-mart, park, carry my computer inside and continue here the rest of this day. At just before eight-thirty this evening, I pack out, drive across the highway to the d-mart and park for the night.
It is suppose to be warmer at night for several day, but will drop back down to below freezing for next weekend and then continue like that for the next two weeks.
Needless to say, I must needs stay here in middle Tennessee so that I can have the transmission worked on by the repair company who Joe has contacted for me. He says that the company is about two weeks out before then can work on my vehicle.

Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, connect to the internet to check my com and then resume my regular key pounding. Later this morning, I get a text from David who tells me that he is driving to Centerville to visit with his mom. He says that they will be going out for something to eat and asks it I want to join them. I tell him that I will head that way soon.
In the early afternoon, I begin driving out of Columbia, west on SH 50 and pass by a US Bank branch and just have to stop to withdraw some money. Then, I stop to fill up my fuel tank and finally, I head east on SH 50 on a very beautiful drive through the back country. I arrive in Centerville some time after three this afternoon and both David and his mom, Glenda come downstairs to greet me hello. Then we go back up to her third floor apartment to sit and talk for a time.
A time later, we all leave, pile into David′s car and he drives on SH 48 to Dickson, Tennessee where we stop at a Chinese Buffet for our supper. For many years, I have quit going into these type of restaurants because I tend to overeat, but during the last several times, I have been practicing on limiting myself to what I eat and have succeeded in doing so. This time was just as successful as although I was full, I was not over-full and hurting.
Upon returning back to Centerville, David drives a different route, south on SR 46 to SR 100 and then west to Centerville. He says that this return route is actually longer, distance wise, but it does not take near as long as the SR 48 drive did. David tells me that is because the return drive is a straighter road on which we can drive a a much higher speed.
When we arrive back in Centerville, we go back to Glenda′s apartment to talk for a short time longer before both David and I must needs get on with our drive home. David has to drive for about over an hour to arrive at his apartment in Nashville, and I wish to return to Columbia where I will continue to await my transmission repair appointment. Then Glenda tells me that it would be alright for me to park in one of the visitor parking on the roadway out of her building.
So, that is what I do, I drive out of the apartment property, locate the parking she has told me about and pull into one of the spaces to park for the night. I then climb into the rear of the jammer and get into the horizontal.

After raining most of the early morning, I arise and find the rain has stopped. I step outside, open the hood and add some fluid into the transmission fill tube. Then, I drive back through the town square, out the west side and drive on SH 100 until I arrive at the SH 50 intersection, turn left and drive southeast back towards Columbia.
Upon arriving in Columbia, I turn off of SH 50, drive up the hillside and park in the parking lot outside of the w-mart. I then grab my computer bag and walk inside to resume my wait here in Columbia for my transmission repair.
Slowly, the day comes to an end, the w-mart baristas begin there closing routines and I too, pack out, drive to the d-mart across the highway and talk up my space where I am overnighting and where there is a security guard who drives circles around the parking lot.
It does not take long for me to attain sleep.

Journey On, Day 14
Overnighting in a parking lot
After sleeping longer that I do normally, I first add some transmission fluid, then drive back across the highway to the w-mart, park, walk inside with my computer bag and after checking my com, I begin another morning of sipping coffee and pounding keys. During the morning, I receive a text from both Glenda and David and tell them that I enjoyed our buffet meal yesterday. I then resume the work on my website but stop early enough to prepare well for the meeting tonight and I amazed at how much of it applied personally. Yes, I really must needs increase the time and effort that I am spending on meeting and personal Bible study. Today, I was reawaken to this need.
At seven tonight, I put away everything except for the zoom and Bible app and fully become involved in this meeting. Afterwards, I drive back to the d-mart to park for another night while I await for my jammer to be repaired.
(Day 634 TN) 37°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 15
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, walk inside the w-mart to purchase two more quarts of tranny fluid because I have come to find that it takes about one half to one full quart of fluid every day to keep the transmission going without it slipping. I then drive to the w-mart, take up my parking spot and spend another day waiting for that day when I will have the transmission work done and then I can resume my journey on. I just hope that the repair goes well and everything goes right back into its place.
From this experience, I have learned one important thing, I will not purchase from an individual again, because I truly believe that the previous owner, Ozzie, knew that the Aerostar had a bad transmission and sold it to me bragging about how good it would run for me. Rule learned, Never believe a car salesman, especially if it is an individual.
I continue inside the w-mart until shortly before it closes, then pack out and drive back to the d-mart for the night.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Another cold night, however it did not drop below freezing. I rise, dress, add some transmission fluid and then drive up the hill to the w-mart to spend the day.
At eight-twenty, I begin packing out to the jammer, drive across the highway to the d-mart and park for the night. Before I fall asleep, it begins to rain lightly.
(Day 636 TN) 37°F. 8:00 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 17
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, step outside to open the hood and after this morning routine, start the jammer and drive up the hill to the w-mar, walk inside, coffee, com and computer. Soon after I check my com, I then begin preparing for the Bible study later this morning, a very informative one about the the words of Jesus at Luke 23: 43, You will be with me in Paradise.
(Day 637 TN) 38°F. 7:30 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 18
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, open the hood, add half a quart of tranny fluid, then start the engine and drive to the w-mart for my regular morning meal.
I continue for a couple of hours and then get a call from Joe who tells me that he had Sarah drop him up in Spring Hill, after which he drove to the transmission shop in Columbia to talk with the owner. Then he tells me that he has arranged for me to drop off my van tomorrow morning, Tuesday at nine a.m. and that the shop will go right to work on the repair. Too, he says, They should have it done by Wednesday before they close down for the day. He continues, I will pick you up tomorrow morning and you can stay at my home until the work is complete. He then asks, Where are you right now? to which I tell him that I am at the coffee shop on SH 50 and he says, I will be right there.
I few minutes later, he arrives, joins me at the table and we review the plans for the transmission repair beginning tomorrow morning. I thank him and say, This has been an answer to a large amount of prayers that I have be supplicating Jehovah about. We talk for a short time longer and then he says that he must get back on the road but he will see me tomorrow morning at nine.
I return to my key pounding, working on my website until about two this afternoon, when I pack out, drive to the bank and ask for a replacement debit card. The teller says that he can have it mailed here to the branch and it will only take three to five days.
Next, I drive to a car wash and wash the outside of the jammer, something that I have been postponing for a couple of weeks and next, drive to the d-mart parking lot and do some interior cleaning and organizing. Then, just as the sun is setting, I pack my day pack for my travel with Joe to his home in Ardmore, Tennessee tomorrow. Finally, I climb into the rear of the jammer, get into the horizontal and after watching a few Bible videos, I close my eyes for the night.
(Day 638 TN) 30°F. 6:00 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 19
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake after another very cold night, start the jammer engine and turn on the defroster to warm up the interior. Once I am warm, I drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer while waiting to take the jammer to the transmission shop.
By nine this morning, I arrive at the transmission repair shop, check in, give them the jammer′s key and then wait for Joe to arrive. Just a few minutes later, Joe walks in and the two of us talk with Mark, the owner. He seem to be a very nice person and I thank him for taking my in so fast. Soon, Joe and I pack out and I ask if he would like to to for breakfast and he answers yes. He drive north on US 31 to a place that he tells me is the best around. After eating, we then begin the forty-five minute drive south on US 31 to where Joe and Sarah live in a garage which Joe is building into a house and which in not far from the Tennessee border with Alabama.
Upon arriving at the garage, we go inside, greet Sarah with a hug and I tell her that Angela told me to say hello. Then Joe takes me on a tour of their home, showing me first the new bedroom he has built since the last time I visited which is now finished. Then, we walk out a new opening in the rear walk to see the new mud room that Joe is currently working on. which still has the wall studs showing so he can continue with the water and electrical installing. Next, we come back into the living room and I take a place at the dining room board to set up my computer where I plan on spending most of my time while here.
Later, Joe goes to work in the new mud room and after he has been there for some time, I get up and join him to see what he is doing. He tells me that the person that he had frame the addition really screwed up the entire structure, so I look at the work and in a short examination, I see what he is talking about. That person really did not know the basic framing techniques of supporting both sills and headers with jack legs.
After it is dark, Sarah prepares salmon burgers with cheese, sliced tomatoes, grilled onions and mushrooms. Joe and I both have two burgers and they are so very tasty. Soon after, Joe and Sarah retire for the evening and I put away my computer and retire to sleep on the couch.

After a comfortable night on the sofa, I rise at when the light of day shines into the living room. I then get up, grab my shower bag and walk to the bathroom to get into the hot water. Upon finishing my shower, I walk to my day pack, open it to retrieve my sprouted bread, almond butter and an apple. I then walk to the board, take my seat and make my breakfast, after which I eat the sandwich while pounding keys on my computer. About a half an hour later, Joe walks out from the bedroom into the living room area. I greet him and he reply in a groggy tone, Do you want coffee? to which I answer, Yes.
Soon, he brings me a cup of coffee and he sits down but only for a short time because Doc and Annie, the two standard black poodles both go to the front door indicating that they need to go outside. He lets Doc outside immediately, but tells Angie, the younger one who still has need for training, I take you out as soon as I put on my boots and get the leash. So Angie waits at the door until Joe puts his boots on and the they both go outside for a walk in the yard while I continue pounding keys and sipping on coffee.
Later this morning, Joe and I go to get Sarah a biscuit and fill up the fuel tank on his Acura car but we can not get the fuel door open. He then goes inside and I open the glove box, pull out the users manual and begin searching for the instructions for opening the fuel door. I find it on page 14 which reads first, unlock the drivers door. That was what was necessary because then the fuel door, when you push on the edge comes right open. Joe then returns from going inside and I tell him, Try the fuel door. He does and finds it to be locked. Then, I say, The instructions state that the first step is: Unlock the drivers door. He walks over to the door, unlocks it, then tries the fuel door and it opens. He looks at me and says, I learned something today. We drive back to the garage, give Sarah her biscuit and then begin loading his truck for a dump run,
Finally, we return to the garage where I return to pounding keys. Later, I offer to blow the leaves off of the front porch and Joe shows me where the blower and the extra batteries. I get started and use up all the batteries and still have more to clear of leaves. I put all of the batteries on the charges and then when he is done loading the truck, I go with Joe to get rid of the garbage. We also stop for some propane fuel and that is unbelievable how much propane cost now. When we return, I go back to blowing the rest of the leaves off of the porch and driveway. Joe goes to the fifth-wheel trailer and cleans it in preparation for me to sleep in that trailer tonight. Until then, I sit in the garage with my computer and pound keys.
Later, I leave the garage, walk out to the fifth-wheel and get into the sack.

Journey On, Day 21
Overnighting in a fifth wheel trailer
Awake, dress in my fall blues, step outside, walk to the garage and walk in through the front door. Joe had given me a key to the front door so that I can come in without them having to be up. Entering the garage, I set up my computer, check my com and then begin pounding keys. Joe comes into the living room shortly after and walks to the coffee pot to make us both a cup of coffee.
Later, Joe, Sarah, my self and the two dogs (Annie Oakly and Doc Holiday) go for a long ride north on US 31 from their home to look at a piece of land that is for sale. By the time we get there, Joe already says that it is too far along a two-lane road making it way too isolated. He turns around in a driveway and we drive back to their home, drop off Sarah and the dogs and then we drive into Ardmore to fill the fuel tank of Sarah′s van and buy some groceries.
While in the grocery and while Joe is shopping, I purchase for myself some crackers with nut butter. Then, we go back to the garage and I return to my computer to study for the meeting that occurs later tonight.
Then, at seven this evening, the meeting begins and since the onset of tornados in the area, the meeting is being broadcast electronically on zoom. So, Joe, Sarah, and I watch the meeting on the living room wide screen television, which meeting is the midweek meeting in Pulaski, Tennessee.
I comment a couple of times to Joe and Sarah about how thick the southern accent the friends have, and both Joe and Sarah get a chuckle from my words. After the meeting, I pack out to the fifth-wheel for my night sleep.
During the night, I hear rain continually pounding down upon the metal roof above my head as the leading front of the incoming winter storm pushes through the southeast area of the continent.
(Day 641 TN) 38°F. 6:00 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 22
Overnighting in a fifth-wheel trailer
Awake before my alarm and can not get back to sleep, so I get dressed and walk over to the garage. Upon arriving at the front door, I see Joe inside and he comes and unlocks the door to let me in. He next dresses for the cold weather and then takes the dogs out for their morning walk. After, the three come back inside, Joe brews coffee and brings me a cup.
At eleven, Joe takes me to Columbia, drops me off at the repair shop where I pay the bill and then drive to Starbucks to get online. Then, at two, I drive south on US 31 towards Pulaski and the transmission begins to have problems shifting to overdrive causing the overdrive red light to begin flashing. So, I pull off the highway, turn off the engine, then restart the engine and which resets the red light to off.
During the drive, I have to stop three more times in order to reset the electronics. After arriving at Joe′s house and telling him about the overdrive problem, he say let′s go for a drive. (He is a master Ford mechanic.)
We drive into town and the transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears including overdrive, and does not repeat the problem I had earlier again, but shifts perfectly several times. Joe said that sometimes, after a rebuild, a piece of debris will lodge in one of the gear valves and not allow it to shift into that gear. However, often after turn the car off, letting it sit for a time and then restarting and driving, the fluid flow will clear the debris. I then reply, Then, the filter will catch the debris, and Joe says, Yes, this appears to be what has happened.
We arrive in town and Joe says, Turn in at the next driveway, which, when I do, puts us at a Mexican restaurant, at which time he asks, Are you hungry? I park the van, we go inside and both have the fish tacos, after which, we return to the jammer and I drive back to his home. He says, The debris was cleared and the transmission is working just fine.

Awake, clean up the van a little, dress in my winter blues, walk inside the garage, then into the bath room to take a shower. At seven-thirty, Joe walks through the living room and say, You need to sleep in later. This causes me to remember the old saying taught to me by one of my mentors, Benjamin Franklin, who say, After three days, fish and visitors begin to stink, and by remembering this, I decide that I have imposed on Joe and Sarah long enough and will be leaving today. Now, I just wait for them to get up for the day to tell them goodbye.
By eight this morning, both walk into the living room and I tell them that I have packed out and will be starting my drive west today. They both seem to be shocked by what I said, but when I tell them the old saying, Joe chuckles. We say good bye and I walk out to the jammer to disconnect the electrical cord. As I am just starting to back out, Joe walks up to me and offers two parting gifts, which I do take one. We say good bye again and I drive out of the driveway, west on Lewter Hollow road, then west on to Ardmore Ridge road and finally turn north on US 31.
I make one stop at an Herbal Apothecary to see what it is about and find three women who have done the research about eating healthy. I buy some bilberry powder but nothing else because the prices are very high. Then I continue north on US 31 through Pulaski, Tennessee, and arrive in Columbia in an half hour, drive to the w-mart, walk inside with my computer bag and resume my key pounding.
Later, long after dark, I retire to the d-mart for the night.

Awake, dress in my winter blues, start the jammer, and methinks, I can not yet grasp that the problems that I have been having with my transportation have been repaired and keep thinking that any day now, any moment, I will have to deal with all that stress once again. I then drive, without any problem out of the parking lot, up the hill, across the highway, into w-mart parking lot, park the jammer and then go inside for a cup of coffee, check my com and resume my key pounding. Then, again, I thank Jehovah for all that he has been providing for my well being and that it was just my lack of faith that gave me all the stress that I have been experiencing for the past four months.
At about eight this morning, I begin preparing for the Bible study later this morning, and find the article to be titled, Find Peace During a Crisis. As I go through the paragraphs of this study, I find much encouragement for overcoming the cause of all the stress I have experienced in the previous months, that is learning how to more fully trust in Jehovah to provide for all my needs. The solution is to all the Peace of God to guard my heart and mental powers as mentioned in Philippians 4:6-7. Too, I realize that from my increased prayers, I have been doing that to some degree, which in a way has kept my stress level somewhat subdued. The first paragraph asked the question What is the "peace of God?" and the content stated, There is a kind of peace that this world knows nothing about. This statement made me stop and think my situation for quite a while and then, I continue the study.
Later, after the meeting, I return to my key pounding and my work on updating the pages in my website all the while, continuing to think about how Jehovah really does care for all of his people.

Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer thinking that I will drive to the bank this afternoon to check to see if my new debit card has arrived and instead decide to call them first, only to find out that the bank is closed today because of a national holiday. So, I just stay here in the cafe and plan to pound keys all day.
However, at ten this morning, a barista walks up to me to tell me the cafe is closing due to pluming problems. Methinks, good, now I can drive to the a-mart to have my deep cell battery tested. I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the a-mart, take the battery inside and the battery does test bad. I then use the old battery as a core for a purchase of a new deep cell battery, after which, I carry it out to the jammer and do a temporary connection to my inverter and solar panel controller. However, I still have not installed the wiring harness from the battery isolator, which, methinks will happen some time after I arrive back in Texas and set up for a long stay in one of the state park campgrounds.
It is after nearing dark when I drive to the d-mart and take up my parking place for another night here in the middle Tennessee Interior Plateau ecoregion.

Journey On, Day 26
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart and go inside for coffee, com and computer, however, I only stay long enough to allow the bank to open, which, when I check, is at nine this morning. After packing out of the w-mart, I drive to the bank arriving shortly after nine, park, walk inside and ask if my new debit cart has arrived. The bank teller, Terry, checks in the back but does not find it. Then, the branch manager says, there is mail on the printer counter, walks to the counter, picks up an envelope, hand it to Terry and he says, Yes, this is it! and hands it to me.
We then use first the outside ATM and second, my bank app to set up the new bank card after which, I thank Terry for his help and walk out of the bank to the jammer. Then, I drive out of the parking lot, drive the James Campbell loop around the west side of Columbia, Tennessee, cross the Duck River, connect to New SH 7 and drive north. After a short time, I cross under the Natchez Trace parkway, which I was thinking about driving but opted to drive to Hot Springs instead. I continue north on SH 7 until I reach SH 100, drive straight across this highway and continue north on SH 46 towards Dickson. When I arrive at IH 40, I take the west bound on ramp and continue my day′s travel west on IH 40, through the the eastern parts of the Interior Plateau and through Jackson, Tennessee, then into the Tennessee Coastal Plains region which takes me through Memphis, Tennessee, where I cross the Mississippi River
After crossing the Hernando de Soto arch bridge, I continue westward in the Coastal Plains region of eastern Arkansas, drive the interstate loop around Little Rock, Arkansas and into the Interior Highlands region on IH 30. Soon, I am turning off of the interstate at the US 70 exit and then drive west towards Hot Springs, take the US 270 south loop to the SH 7 exit and then turn south on SH 7 to stop at the w-mart. I park here for the night.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, walk inside the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Then at nine-thirty this morning, I pack out of the cafe, drive north on SH 7 under the IH 30 overpass and into the downtown area of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Upon arriving at Bathhouse Row, I drive to the free parking garage, pull inside and find a good parking location next to the elevators. I then ready my day pack with enough money for entrance fee, a change of clothes, plenty of business cards and my shower bag.
Next, I step out of the jammer, lock the doors, and walk to the elevation to catch the next one down to the ground floor. Upon walking out of the parking garage, I see the cherry trees along the fountain path are in bloom and I take some photos. I continue across Central Avenue and then walk to the Quapaw Bath House and walk inside. I then pay the twenty-five dollar (plus tax) fee to enter, walk into the mens dressing room and soon, I am in the hot water soaking.
While I am here, I go through my routine of soaking in the hot water for fifteen minutes, next, take a cold shower, then sitting on the lounge chair for five to ten minutes. This routine allows my skin pores to first open in the hot water to release toxins, and then by taking a cold shower and resting, to close the skin pores and reset for then next round of hot water. Doing it this way allows the toxins to rise to the skin and await for the next time the pores open. I stay in the pool area for about four hours and I am able to repeat my hot-cold procedure for more than ten times. Too, all along, I keep rubbing my skin which removes layer after layer of dead skin cells.
Finally, at about three-thirty, I pack out, take a shower, dress in clean clothes and walk back to the jammer. After I put away my dirty clothes and day pack, I then start the jammer and drive south on SH 7 back to the w-mart where I park for the night.
Here, I spend the remainder of the day and early evening resting and taking naps. Finally, when it is after dark, I close my eyes and sleep.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, grab my computer bag and walk inside the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. At ten this morning, I leave the w-mart and drive to the bank to withdraw some travel money, after which, I drive to US 270 and drive west to Mt Ida, then to Pencil Bluff and here turn left on SH88 and continue west to Mena where I stop briefly to check if that ap-mart has a part that I need. After searching through his computer, he finds that he does not have it, so I thank him and leave.
I then take Arkansas SH 88 up into the mountains and drive the Talimena Scenic byway to the Oklahoma state line and then continue west on Oklahoma SH 1 all the way to Talihina. Here, I connect to US 271 and drive south out of Talinina to Clayton and then southeast out of Clayton for almost ten miles before US 271 turns southwest and then continue to Antlers and then continue south to Hugo.
After driving through Hugo, I drive south on US 271 across the Red River into Texas, and continue south to Paris, Texas where I take the SH loop 286 around the east side of Paris and exit at the intersection of US 82. Here I cross under the SH 286 and stop at a w-mart so that I can connect to the meeting in Centerville, Tennessee using zoom.
I plan on staying nearby here for the night and when I rise in the morning come back to the w-mart for coffee.

After it raining most of the night, I arise in the late twilight, dress in my fall blues, and then walk into the w-mart for my coffee, com and computer. I stay in the w-mart until noon and then pack out to drive south to Lake Bob Sandlin state park so that I may camp with an electric hookup. I first travel south on US 271, then south of SH 37 and finally SR 21 to the park, pay for then next three nights and drive to my campsite.
While driving in to the campsite, I notice that there are some campers but not many, unlike both the campsites on the Talimena Scenic Byway, which were completely empty of campers. I have never liked being the only person in a campground
Arriving at one in the afternoon, I first sweep the concrete pad as I often do upon arriving at a campsite which I will be staying at for a few days. Then, I set up my electrical cord and plug in my inside receptacles, to which I connect my computer and phone to begin charging. Next, I set up my electrical cord and plug in my inside receptacles, which I connect my computer and phone to begin charging. Next, I spend a couple of hours cleaning and organizing the inside of the van. Then, I get out my stove and skillet and cook a large salmon steak after which I have for my supper. Finally, I relax and play solitaire for a little while, after which, I get caught up on my journal writing.
At seven-thirty this evening, I get into the horizontal and watch a couple of videos before I close my eyes.

Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, Campsite # 33
Coordinates: 33.0544819, -95.0885116
Elevation: 382 feet
Awake, dress in my winter blues, grab my shower bag and walk to the shower house for a medium hot shower. Then, I return to the jammer to begin my morning meal preparations consisting of a cup of coffee, cup of tea and a cup of Daystart, to which I add some of the newest obtained ingredient bilberry extract. After I put away the stove and kitchen, I sit inside to sip on the coffee while I pound keys and begin creating my newest campsite page. I stay inside most all the day and have some celery to snack on with some almond butter.
Then, in the late afternoon, I step outside to begin my evening meal preparations. I put water in my cookpot a place it on the stove to begin heating, to which I add sprouted rice, soon after I add some quinoa, then some sea weed flakes and my spice mix. Meanwhile, I begin chopping vegetables: onion, sweet potatoes, and red bell pepper. When the vegetables have all been chopped, I add then to the cookpot and keep stirring it repeatedly. Finally, when all the ingredients are soft, I turn off the stove and put it away. Then, I climb back into the jammer and begin enjoying my supper.
The twilight of night seems to come very early in the evening and I continue inside the jammer constantly pounding the computer keyboard until long after all the light of day is gone. This is a very quite forest.
(Day 650 TN) 54°F. 6:30 am, overcast
Winter Sojourn, Day Three
Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, Campsite # 33
Awake, turn the heater up a little, open my computer and begin my journal entry for today, and afterwards, up load my journal to the web page. Next, I grab my shower bag and walk to the shower house for my second hot shower since arriving at this state park. Too, this time that I walk to the shower house, I remember to bring myphone so that I might take some photos of the building.
Then, I return to my campsite, open the rear lift door and get out my teapot, start my stove and put water in the pot. While I wait for the water to boil, I get out my cookpot, take it to the water spigot and clean it of the last nights meal remains. Next,I prepare my three cups for the morning meal, putting tea bags in one, instant coffee in the second, and then add the ingredients of my Daystart in the third cup.
Then, I connect to the weekend meeting that is at the Bay Area Congregation in Webster, Texas. Afterwards, I step outside and looking about, I notice that all of the other campers have either pack out and driven out of the campground or are currently getting ready to leave. Methinks, I will be by myself tonight, at least without other campers, because state parks always have rangers who work every day the parks are open. Then, methinks, why am I concerned about being alone, as I have learned today in the meeting, I will always have the friends in the brotherhood, but also, Jehovah, his son Jesus and all the angels also are with me every moment.
Thinking about where I am going tomorrow, I decide to check online the Used ap-mart to see if one of the seven wrecking yards actually does have a Ford Aerostar that I will be able to get the part that I need. I find that only one yard does have an Aerostar, in fact, it has three of the vans. That location is in Monroe, Louisiana and that is where I will be driving when I leave here tomorrow.
Finally, I spend the last few hours of this day watching videos on my computer before I call the day done and get into the horizontal.
(Day 651 TN) 54°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day Four
Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, Campsite # 33
Awake later than normal because I turned off my alarm last night. I dress in my fall blues and walk to the restroom for one last shower before my departure. Returning back to camp, I get out my stove, boil water in my teapot and make a cup of coffee and a cup of melalueca tea. I do not make anything to eat because I have half a pot full of last night′s Repast. I put both cups in the cup holders next to the drivers seat and then next, I open the hood and check the fluids, well, except for the transmission because that is why I am going to the used ap-mart in Louisiana today.
Finally, I roll up the extension cord and finish the pack out for my travel to Louisiana today. At nine this morning, I start the jammer engine, drive out of the state park and turn south onto SH 21 to Pittsburg, Texas. I then take US 271 south through Gladewater where after passing, I turn southeast on SH 135 until it connects with IH 30. Here, I turn on the interstate and begin my travel east to Monroe, Louisiana.
After what seems like way too many hours, I arrive in Monroe, turn south on US 165 and drive to the wrecking yard. I walk inside, ask where the Aerostars are located and then walk down row 14. I find the 97 van, pull the dip stick out of the fill tube and then walk to the 96 van. After pulling the dip stick out of this van, I compare the two side by side and find them both the same length. I then put one back into the fill tube and walk to the pay counter. I show the man the dip stick and he says that it will be four dollars, which is less that what I had previously decided would be the most I would pay.
I walk back to the jammer, open the hood, use the dip stick to check the fluid and find it to be within the proper range.
Next, I close the hood, get back into the jammer and drive out of the parking lot. I head north on US 165, then west on IH 20 and drive back to Shreveport, Louisiana where I turn north on IH 220 loop, drive to the north side of the city and then take IH 49 north through to Arkansas until I arrive at the IH 369 loop and take the west bound exit into Texas and then north to the d-mart where I have overnighted many times before. I notice that when driving at about 20 to 30 mph, the transmission begins to slip briefly and does this three times when I am driving to my parking location.
I then park and climb into the back of the jammer.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart and go inside with my computer bag for coffee, com and key pounding. I spend another day here in this city, inside with the air-conditioning working on my computer. Then, at seven this evening, about forty minutes after dark, I pack out and drive to the local Cracker Barrel restaurant for my supper.
After my evening meal, I then drive to the d-mart for another night in the parking lot.

Winter Sojourn, Day Seven
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. While inside I try to call the Comal county tax assessor but I keep getting a message that it is closed, so I wait until nine am. I then get the clerk and ask if I can come to have my title transferred to which she says yes. I then pack out of the w-mart, get into the van and begin the six hour drive to Sattler, Texas so that I can transfer my title and get some license plates. I first connect to IH 30 and drive west until I arrive at Sulphur Springs where I turn south on SH 19 to Athens, Texas. I choose this state highway route because If I drive the interstate highways through Dallas, I would have to pay a toll, which I never do.
Driving south on the SH 19, I arrive in Athens, take the loop around to the west side of the town and connect to SH 31 were I turn southwest through Corsicana, Texas where I drive under IH 45, then through town. I continue southwest on SH 31 to Waco, Texas, where I drive under IH 35 turn south on the feeder road and then enter the interstate. I continue on IH 35 through Temple, then Austin and in both I have to slow down due to heavy traffic, but the slow downs each do not last more that thirty minutes. I continue south on IH 35 south until I arrive at exit 191, drive off the IH and then down to SR FM 306, turn right and drive several miles towards Canyon Lake.
I then drive northwest to Sattler, Texas where I first stop at an oil change garage so that I can have them do a state inspection of the van. Next, I drive to my sister Susan′s home but find that she is not home. I then leave and drive about twelve miles to the west and go into a w-mart where I connect to the Bay Area congregation for the mid week meeting. Before the meeting ends, it begins to rain outside and I have to pack out of the w-mart and listen to the remainder of the meeting in the jammer.
Once the meeting is over, I then drive back to Sattler, Texas where I park for the night in an empty parking lot and find it to be very quite here. During the night, there is a wind storm that rocks the jammer. However, methinks, despite this crazy wind, I am glad to be back on the dry side!

Awake after a long sleep, dress in my winter blues, grab my auto documents and go inside to transfer my title and purchase new license plates. I am second in line and I ask the clerk for a Title Transfer application, which she gives me. I begin filling it out and then when she calls Next Person I step up and ask the clerk questions about the application. She puts small marks by every place that I still need to fill out and I sit back down to complete the paper. Then, when she calls for the next person again, I step up and hand her the application and all of my documents. Then, she says, That will be $456.00., which I hand her in cash. She then gives me the new Texas license plates and the one year inspection sticker that I am to put inside of the windshield on the drivers side. I ask, Is this all I need to start driving? to which she says, Yes. I thank her, leave the clerks office, walk out to the jammer and install both the license plates and the inspection sticker in their places. Then, methinks, That was so easy!
Leaving the county office, I then go to Sweeties Donuts, walk inside, purchase a cup of hot and an egg sandwich, and then I sit down to eat, check my com and pound keys to update my journal.
I call my sister and she tells me that she will be there some time after eleven this morning and that I can come by and make myself at home until then. Too, she reminds me that I know were the hidden key to the mobile is located and to make myself at home. However, I do not arrive until about fifteen after eleven today and while waiting for her to arrive, I wash my van. When she does arrive, she invites me to stay for as long as I would like, however, I tell her that I can only stay until tomorrow morning. She tells me that she is picking up the girls and taking them to work in Wimberley, Texas and then she is going back to work herself until about four or five this afternoon. So, I spend the afternoon by myself working on cleaning and organizing my van, both inside and outside. I do put a load of wash in the washer and then the dryer, after which, I put in my laundry bag and carry it out to the jammer. At about three this afternoon, I carry some of my food stores inside and make a large pot of my Repast to share with Susan, Francis and Kevin.
Later, Susan returns back to the home and we have a bowl of my Repast. We visit until I retire to the jammer to sleep for the night. Later, Susan leaves to go back to pick up the kids from Wimberley and they all return to the home to sleep for the night. I told Susan to tell the girls that they should also have some of my soup to eat, and she said that she would.

Overnighting in the driveway of my Sister′s home
Coordinates: 29.8440471, -98.2269206
Elevation: 1028 feet
Awake early, but stay in the sack until it is too bright outside to sleep any longer. I get dressed in my fall blues, step outside and find that the temperature is not too cold at all. I then continue on the work or organizing my things until my sister and the kids awake and walk outside to greet me. Susan tells me that I left my bottle of shampoo in the shower, so I go inside to retrieve it. Soon, all three are ready to leave for the day, so we hug goodbye and they drive away. I do not stay much longer, only long enough to finish folding and put my clothes away in their place. When that is complete, I drive out of the Canyon Lake hills subdivision, down to FM2673, then turn west on this highway, left at FM 315 and drive further west to SH 46, turn right, continue west until I drive under US highway 281 in Bulverde, Texas and left at the first intersection on Old Boerne Road and then into the parking lot of the w-mart.
In the parking lot, I park, walk inside with my computer bag, order a cup of coffee and a large glass of ice and then begin pounding keys in order to catch up on my journal writing. At three-thirty, I pack out, stop at an ap-mart in the same shopping strip to check for available parts, after which, drive across the highway to a Whataburger for my supper.
After eating, I return to the jammer, start the engine and exit the parking lot onto SH 46, drive the short distance to US 181, then under the overpass and turn left to access US 281 north. From here, I set my GPS to the w-mart in Abilene but do not expect to arrive there until tomorrow sometime in the late afternoon. As for today, after driving about 67 miles, I pull into the w-mart parking lot overlooking Marble Falls and the Texas Colorado river valley.
I stay here in the jammer until dark and then move to a place near the edge of the parking lot, put up my window shades and climb into the rear to get horizontal.

I stay here this morning so that I can use the zoom app to connect with the Centerville, Tennessee congregation for the week-end meeting, which was how God′s Word is the Truth and is very encouraging. I am glad that I take the effort to make the meetings and not miss any. Just before the meeting is over, I get into the jammer and begin my drive north 82 miles on US 281 and then west on SH 36 for another 116 miles to Abilene, Texas, arriving around three this afternoon. I immediately drive to the Taco Bueno, park, go inside and have two bean buritoes. This has been my favorite fast-food Mexican ever since I was in high school. After eating, I drive across the street to the w-mart, gather up my computer bag, walk inside and set up at one of the tables with an electric plug.
Then, long after it becomes dark, I pack out, drive to a d-mart to purchase some cold coconut milk and crackers. Then, I drive back to the parking lot where I will be overnighting while here in Abilene, put up my window shades and then get into the back of the jammer, where I watch a few videos before I close my eyes.

After sleeping very comfortably last night, I arise, dress in my fall blues, drive back to the w-mart parking lot, find a place to park, grab my computer bag, walk inside and return to my regular routine of coffee, com and computer. After looking at the weather forecast, methinks that I will be staying in this location for several more days, possibly as long as a week to ten days and will more than likely drive south the fourteen miles to overnight at the state park for a couple of night while I am holed up in this city.
One nice thing about this overnight location is that there is one of the three hf-marts that I frequent located close by. The second of three located in Lubbock, my next place to overnight. I will most likely not see the third of three until I arrive in Sante Fe, New Mexico.
I pack out, drive to an ap-mart and order a rear lift door shock, which I am told will arrive tomorrow morning. Then, I drive back to the w-mart and park in the parking lot but do not go inside. I go online with my phone and search for where I can purchase a specific brand shock absorbers but do not find a location anywhere near to my location.
Finally, I drive to where I am parking, put up my window shades and climb into the rear of the jammer for the night

Afterwards, I drive back to the w-mart, park in my regular parking space and carry my computer bag back inside to work more on the web-site upgrade that I have been doing for some time now.
Then, at nearly eight this evening, I upload my work to the website, pack out, walk out to the jammer, drive to a place where I will be eating a meal tonight and purchase my food. Then, I drive back to the parking lot where I have been overnighting, now going on my third night here.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. In the early afternoon, I drive to the ap-mart and purchase a rear shock for the jammer. Next, I walk outside, open up the jammer, get out my jack and tools and then begin installing the shock on the rear drivers side. The job of replacing the shock is quite easy because the two bolts holding the shock are easy to take off. All total, including the time it takes to jack up the rear end and install the shocks is just about two hours. I tell the parts clerk thanks for his help and then pack out back to the w-mart to enjoy more of the air conditioned inside.
Later, I pack out, drive to the Taco Bueno for two bean burritos and then add more ingredients from the salsa bar. I sit down to eat and watch several videos before I pack out and drive back to my regular overnight parking place, put up my window shades and retire for another night here in Abilene.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, carry my computer bag inside for coffee, com and key pounding until about ten this morning at which time, I drive to the ap-mart to purchase and install the second rear shock. I then go out into the parking lot, jack up the rear of the van and begin with the shock installation. The installation only takes me one hour to complete even though getting out my tools and jacking up the car involves almost one more hour. It is about half past noon when I drive away for the ap-mart and back to the w-mart where I first go inside the adjacent ff-mart for something to eat before returning to the air conditioned w-mart.
I then stay inside the w-mart until after dark when I pack out, drive to the place where I have been regularly overnighting and park for the night. I go to sleep somewhat earlier tonight than i normally do because tonight is the Spring Forward event, which has all clocks turn forward one hour.

Winter Sojourn, Day 17
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, carry my electronics bag inside for coffee, com, computer and the weekend meeting. At ten, I drive to the ap-mart to purchase the next shock but the receipt does not show the bonus points, so, I tell the clerk to refund my money and I will try again tomorrow to see if I receive the point. A this parts store chain, after five points, I receive a twenty dollar credit on my account.
Leaving the ap-mart, I drive back south on US 84 to the Buffalo Gap exit and the drive south on the Buffalo Gap road, SR 89 and drive the fourteen or so miles to the state park hoping to camp there for a couple of nights, especially since the next two nights are going to be in the mid 30s.
However, when I ask the ranger for a camping space, she says the campground is full, which she says it is because of the Spring Break. I inform the ranger that I had no inclination whatsoever there was any such event going on this weekend, to which she tells me that it is two weeks long. I then ask for a day pass and upon receiving the pass, I drive into the campground, stop as the first shower house, grab my shower bag, clean clothes, and go inside for a much needed hot shower.
After my hot shower, I pack out, drive out of the park and then back north on SH 89 to US 84, drive under the overpass and into the parking lot of the w-mart. Then, I park the jammer, grab my computer bag and go back inside to pound on the keyboard for the rest of the day.
The sun sets at about seven-forty, after which, I pack out drive to the Whataburger for my supper and then back to the same parking lot where I have been during my sojourn here.

I only have to wait for a few minutes before I begin to warm up and then get up, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart and go inside to begin another day of much of the same that I have been doing, not only the last week, but for a long, long time.
However, I was, only last month, able to install the full version of Adobe Acrobat so that I can continue my work on Episode Three of the seven passages of The Quest for the Real Life contained within The Wayƒarers Journal, and will soon have the newest proof copy available online for my proof readers.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my winter blues, start the jammer and drive next door to the w-mart for my coffee, com and computer.
After a day of pounding keys, I become somewhat tired, feeling like there is need for me to take a nap, a feeling that I have not had for many months. However, I do pack out early today and after stopping for something to eat, I park in the location I have been inhabiting after I arrived here on Day Ten.
I sleep for the rest of the day, waking up after dark when I turn on my phone and begin watching several of the videos that I have downloaded into my JWLibrary app. Then, at some time after ten this evening, I return to the sleep position.

Awake to a comfortable morning, dress in my fall blues, start the jammer and drive next door for my morning coffee, com and another day of key pounding.
I continue with my website work until some time after six this evening, at which time, I direct my thoughts toward the meeting tonight. When the time arrives to connect, I again use my zoom app and connect to the Harlingen congregation in south Texas.
Finally, I drive back to my space in the parking lot next door to the w-mart, put up my window shades and climb into the back of the jammer to get under all three of my blankets.

Winter Sojourn, Day 22
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart, walk inside for the warmth, some coffee, com, and another day of key pounding.
Today, I talk to an older gentleman who says that he is a local, however, he is only recently returning home from an extensive journey. During our conversation, he even allows me to show him from my Bible the hope I have of living in the coming paradise. During the rest of today, this gentleman and I connect several more times, maintaining a friendly demeanor and when he leaves says, Hope to see you again.
I continue work on my edit of Episode Three for the rest of the day and then, when I am too tired to continue sitting and pounding keys, I drive to the Whataburger for a double-meat sandwich, always with extra onions.
After eating my evening meal, I drive back to my regular overnight parking space, put up the window shades, climb into the rear of the jammer and get comfortable under my three blankets.
(Day 670 TN) 35°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Winter Sojourn, Day 23
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, start the jammer engine, turn on the heater and get back under my blankets to wait for the inside of the van to warm up. It is another cold morning after having to use all three of my blankets all night to keep warm. Still, it is now approaching the Vernal equinox about which I have recently updated my social media page with the specifics of the spring equinox event, which this year will arrive on the twentieth of this month. It seems that I always look forward to this celestial event each year as it means that winter is done and behind me, with warmer days arriving forthwith.
I drive to the w-mart, carry my computer bag inside for coffee, com and another day of key pounding with the hope to complete my edit of The Story Keeper: Book One. If I am able to finish this passage today, I will print it to a PDF and insert it into the novel, Episode Three: Journey to Lenapehoking, which I will then upload it to my online store for my proofreaders to download.
When I have uploaded the files, I drive to the place called What, have my regular and then sit in the jammer to enjoy my evening meal. Afterwards, I drive to my overnight location to park.

Spring Equinox
Awake earlier today than in the recent past, before the sunrise, which is currently at seven forty-three this morning in central time and because it is the equinox, I believe that it will be a bit warmer at night now. Then, at eleven this morning, I pack out to drive to the d-mart to buy some groceries and then drive south to the state park for a night of camping.
Arriving at two this afternoon, I check in at the front office, pay for only one night and then drive to the shower house for a time in the hot water. Once I am done there, I then drive to the Wagon Circle campground, park in campsite number One and plug in to the electrical.
The wind is a considerable wind blowing here, stirring up dust and leaves, so I keep the windows closed and stay inside the jammer the rest of the day.
Then, at six, I step outside, open up the rear lift door to get out my knife and cutting board, with which I chop several vegetables for a salad including: celery, red bell pepper, onion, tomato and sprinkle some of these vegetables over lettuce and greens mix, all of which are organic. Finally, I climb back into the office area of the interior of my van, sit down and drizzle some olive oil, vinegar and spice mix on top and then enjoy my evening meal. Afterwards, I use two slices of my sprouted grains bread to sop up the remaining oil and vinegar and when I am done wiping up the liquid, I put the bowl away, particularly since there was no meat in my meal, I do not bother to use hot water and soap, a practice that I have been doing most all my life.
It is so quite here this far from the city of Abilene and I will enjoy sleeping here without all the lights and noise that are associated at my in town overnighting location. However, here this even, the wind continues gusty into the evening. And I continue pounding keys as I work on my proof read of Passage Three, Book Two and chapters six and seven.

Elevation: 1976 feet
Awake, dress in my fall blues, walk to the mens restroom and then return to the jammer to prepare my morning meal. I notice that the gusty wind has retreated. After I raise the rear lift door, I get out my stove and tea pot, set it up on the picnic table and begin heating water. Once the water is boiling, I make a cup of coffee, cup of tea and a cup of Daystart, which, when all three are ready, I put away the kitchen, climb back into the jammer and eat my meal while I begin my journal entry for today.
I have made the decision not to stay for another night here, but return to the city. Yes, I know, the city is replete with bright lights at night, noise, temptations and wicked people. However, I have come to enjoy a couple of the advantages of city life, particularly the well stocked grocery stores, a few of my favorite restaurants and probably the most important, reliable WiFi.
Then at eleven this morning, I pack out and drive first to the shower house to enjoy my second shower here while here. Afterwards, I leave the campground and drive to the lake because when I checked in, the ranger asked if I have seen the lake recently and told me that it is nearly empty. Upon arriving at the swimming beach, I see how low the water level actually is. Abilene lake is just one more casualty of the twenty plus year drought that this continent is currently experiencing.
After taking several photos, I drive back to SH 89, then turn north back to Abilene, which I arrive there before one this afternoon. I drive directly to the w-mart, take my regular parking space and then walk into the cafe for a few hours of key pounding.
After it has become dark outside, I then

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, park, grab my computer bag and walk inside for coffee, com and key pounding. There is talk here inside the cafe that it is slowly warming up, but methinks, it is not enough for me to resume my northern migration. I sit down at my regular table and delve into my journal writing again.
Then, at six this evening, I pack out, drive to the place called What for my evening meal and then after that, I drive back to the place that I have been overnighting, park and climb into the rear of the jammer, read three chapters in the Bible and then put away my electronics and close my eyes.
At two in the morning, I am awaken by a police officer knocking on the outside of one of the windows. He said that I was reported by some workers as sleeping in my vehicle in the parking lot. I answered him that I am a disabled veteran, a winter Texas, and live in my van. He asked to see my ID and after he looked at it, he handed it back to me. I said that I try not to cause any problems and he replied. Those who reported this did not ask for you to be trespassed, then he said goodbye and left.
This made me think that I should either overnight at another location in this city or drive to another city. Methinks that I should initiate a new rule for overnighting, which should be that I should not spend more than ten to fourteen nights in the same location. I have looked at the weather in Amarillo and it still is dropping below freezing at night, so I will not be going there yet.
Instead, after I check the temperatures in the Odessa area, I decide that that will be my next overnight location.

Awake to a warm morning, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, walk inside for a cup of hot, next check my com and then begin pounding on the keyboard.
At about noon, I decide to pack out, start the jammer and then drive north on US 84 until I arrive at the lst Street exit and then continue west on US 84 for four miles and then take the IH 20 west to Odessa, Texas so that I can overnight there for several more days.
Once I have arrived in this city, I drive diriectly to the w-mart, park the jammer, grab my computer bag and go inside for the air conditioning, because this day has soared upwards into the high 90s. I continue inside until after dark when I pack out, drive across the street to the d-mart and find a good location to park for the night.

Then, I go online and make reservations for a campsite at the Monahans Sandhills State park which will begin on this coming Sunday and last three nights until Wednesday morning. I have been seeing some amazing sun rises and sunsets and hope to get some good photographs while camping there.
At about ten-thirty, I notice that there is a car group of Witnesses who have stopped for a mid morning break. I walk up to two of the sisters and ask the same question that I always ask those who I only suspect that they are Jehovah′s Witnesses, Do you know any of the Great Crowd? Both of the sisters smile and one asks me, Do you have family who are witnesses? to which I reply, No, I am a witness. We begin to talk and then the sister′s husband walk over and we continue to talk. Then, the friends return to the ministry and I return to my key pounding.
At eight this evening, I pack out, drive to the place called What for my evening meal, after which I drive back to the d-mart to spend another night in the parking lot.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive across the street, park, carry my bag inside and begin checking com and pounding keys. Soon after, I walk up to counter and order a cup of hot coffee and a breakfast wrap, after which I sit down and bet working on my book writing.
I leave the cafe at about six this afternoon to go back to the d-mart to purchase a few food items for my upcoming three days camping at the nearby state park. After doing my shopping, I walk back out to the jammer, repark it in the place where I will be overnighting, set up my window shades and climb into the rear of the van to relax for a few hours before I close my eyes.

Awake, start the engine, straighten up my living quarters, drive across the street to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I stay inside all morning for the weekend meeting and as it is finishing, a group of witnesses from the local Spanish congregation comes in for coffee before their meeting, who I greet and talk with for a few minuits.
Afterwards, I pack out, drive west on IH 20 through Odessa and a bit further to the state park. I stop at the headquarters building and acquire my camping permit and then drive to the shower house for some much needed hot water. Upon returning to the jammer, zit is the heat of the day and feel compelled to take a nap, so I climb in, cover up because of the cold wind and fall asleep. Later, when I awake, I begin greeting people as they walk by my campsite on their way to the shower house. Then, at four, I get out my stove, boil some water and begin cooking my Repast and once it is done cooking, I turn off the heat, clean the stove and put it away, set the cookpot on the floor inside the jammer and then go for a walk to say hello to a few of my neighbors.
Then, at fifteen before eight this evening the sun begins to set so I begin looking for the planets that I know will be in the sky tonight and see first Venus, then later Mars. I can not see Jupiter nor Mercury because both are low on the western horizon which are blocked by sand dunes. Finally, I climb back inside the jammer, close all the windows and turn on my led lamp to organize the inside of the van and take up pounding keys while I finish eating my supper.
Then, later than normal, I get into the horizontal for the night.

Winter Sojourn, Day 32
Awake, dress in my fall blues, and because it is windy, I do not step outside to prepare my morning meal until about ten am. Then, when I do begin, I set up a wind barricade and have no problems boiling water. Once the meal is ready, I climb back into the jammer, return to my key pounding and stay inside all day until it is time to begin preparing my evening meal.
I repeat the process from last evening, bring water to a boil, add rice, then quinoa and let them cook. Meanwhile, I chop my vegetables and put them in the inverted lid until it is time to put them in the cookpot. Next, I add my spices, seaweed and finally the chopped vegetables and let the cookpot return to a boil. After the stew is think, having absorbed most of the water, I turn the heat off, which is just in time for the sunset.
While I wait for my food to cool, I grab my camera and walk about for a good place to take photos of the sunset. Once the western horizon begins to show some colors, I begin taking some photos. There are clouds in the sky this evening and the stars will not be out. This evening, the colors are not concentrated in any one spot but instead spread out across the northern half of the sky from the west almost around to the east. After having taken several photos of the sunset, I then walk back to the jammer to have my evening meal

Winter Sojourn, Day 34
Monahans Sandhills State Park
Awake, dress in my fall blues, gather my shower gear and walk to the shower house for my forth soak in the hot water here at the sandhills. I find that this morning is considerably warmer than the last three despite it only being five degrees warmer. After my hot shower, I return to the jammer and begin my morning meal preparations, when Terry walks by and we greet one another. We continue to talk during which I tell her about my latest book that is available on my website. She asks for the URL and instead, I give her my card. She tells me that she is looking forward to reading what I have written.
I return to my meal preparation and soon, I am back inside at my computer pounding on the keys while I consume the nourishment. Today, I will be packing out and while Terry and I were talking, she told me about a meteor crater in Odessa, Texas, to which I responded, That is where I am going next.
At noon, I pack out, drive out of the state park, then east on IH 20 to exit # 108, the south on Crater Road for about two miles and arrive at the Odessa Meteor Crater site. I park and then walk into th visitors center to check out the displays, many from other craters on this continent. Afterwards, I walk outside to the crater site, enter the crater and down about ten feet in elevation to the bottom of the hole.
After leaving the meteor crater, I continue west on IH 20 into Odessa, Texas, locate a w-mart and go inside with my computer bag to pound keys until later this evening. When I leave the w-mart, I drive to a d-mart park and prepare for the evening here parked in the parking lot. It is very quite here and I read for a while before I get horizontal for the night.

Winter Sojourn, Day 36
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, park, carry my technology bag into the cafe for coffee, com and computer key pounding until ten this morning, when I receive a call to tell me that my part has arrive at the ap-mart next door. I pack out of the w-mart and then drive to the ap-mart to pick up the rear coil springs for the jammer. I have purchased this set in hope that it will raise the rear drivers side of the vehicle, which currently is low and rubbing against the top of the rear left tire when ever I drive over a dip or bump.
I arrive in the parking lot at the ap-mart, go in to pick up the box and then go outside to install one of the two coil springs. I jack up the rear of the jammer, take off the old coil spring and then install the new one on the left rear of the jammer. Even though I follow the directions in my Aerostar repair manual, this job still takes four hours. Once I am finished, have the tire back on the jammer and every thing put away, I drive across the street to the Whataburger to have an early supper. Before I go inside to eat, I call Joe and tell him that I have installed the left rear coil spring and that when I drove across the roadway, going over two fairly deep drive ways, there was no noise made by the tire hitting the inside of the fender well, but instead sounded like it was suppose to sound like, quite. He congratulates me for fixing the problem and then I say goodbye to him.
Next, I go inside to eat and after that, back to the w-mart to pound keys for the remainder of the day. Finally, when it becomes dark, I drive back to the d-mart to park for another night, because I hope to install the right side coil spring tomorrow. Too, I told Joe that doing the second coil spring installation should only take me two or three hours. He said that it takes that long because I am doing the repair lying on my back, which always makes it take longer. I agreed with him.
While at the w-mart, I update my journal entry for today and work some on the update or my Wonders Gallery.
(Day 684 TN) 43°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 37
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to a very quite morning and also a comfortable one. I dress in my fall blues, drive the five miles to the w-mart, park, walk inside with my computer bag for coffee, com and key pounding. I stay inside the cafe until eleven and then drive next door to the ap-mart to park on the side so that I can install the second coil spring on the rear of the jammer.
I begin taking off the left rear wheel at eleven-thirty and by one-thirty this afternoon, I have put that wheel back on and have tightened the lug nuts. Yes, this coil spring only took two hours for me to install, half the time it took to install the first one. Of course, I attribute that to not knowing how to install a coil spring yesterday and then knowing the best and fastest procedure for the second one.
After putting the wheel back on, I go inside the ap-mart to see how much the front shocks and coil springs will cost me, only to find out that this ap-mart can not get the parts. I then drive across the street for something to eat and when I an done there, I drive to another ap-mart and ask for their price of the same part and I am told that the shocks will be thirty dollars each and the pair of coil springs are just under one hundred dollars, but the parts are in a store in Lubbock. So, for me to have all the shocks and coil springs on this jammer replaced with new parts, I am just $160.00 away from it.
I have been looking at the instruction in my repair book on how to install the front coil springs and it may be more than I have the ability and tools to accomplish. So, before I purchase the coil springs, I will first buy and install the front shocks so that I can see for myself what actually is involved in the coil spring replacement. Too, when both front shocks are installed, I will then give the jammer a test drive to see how it feels. If it is doing fine for me, then, I may not purchase the front coil springs.
At about six-thirty this evening, I leave Odessa, Texas, drive east on SH 191 to the north side of Midland, Texas, then turn north on SH 349 and drive to LaMesa, Texas where I turn left on US 87 and then drive to Lubbuch, Texas and turn west on SH Loop 289 and drive to the Quaker Avenue exit, then turn south on Quaker Avernue and pull into the ap-mart to purchase the two front shocks.
Next, I drive across the street to the d-mart, park and climb into the rear of the jammer to get into the horizontal.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, start the jammer and drive south on Quaker Avenue until I arrive at the w-mart. I have a cup of coffee and soon after I connect to the Centerville, Tennessee for the special talk that is being given world wide today at all Kingdom Hall around the world.
After the meeting, I drive to the ap-mart, park in the outer parking lot, get our my tools and begin working on installing the new two front shocks. I start with the driver side and after removing the old shock, compare it to the new one. The old shock is definitely not a heavy duty shock, more likely just a factory equivalent with a one inch diameter outer tube. The new shock is much larger with an outer tube of about one and three-quarters of and inch. I compared the length of both the outer tube and the piston and both shocks measured the same. When I installed the new shock absorber, it barely fit through the hole in the lower control arm, but it did fit and I was able to bolt it into position. After I finished installing the drivers side, I began work on the passengers side. I was able to install both front shocks in less than three hours.
After finishing the job, I drive to the ap-mart where I had just yesterday ordered the new front coil springs and canceled the order. I told the parts clerk that replacing the front coil springs would require me to disconnect and remove the lower control arm bracket, which, I told him, I do not have the tools to do that installation. The clerk told me that it is alright, that I was not obligated to purchase the coil springs.
Driving the jammer around in this town, I have noticed two things. First, the tire rubbing of the fender-well has almost completely stopped and second, the jammer has such a smooth ride now. This makes me glad that I have done what I have done to the suspension. As I worked on replacing all four shock absorbers and the two rear coil springs, I purposely inspected the remaining suspension parts and found a few bushings that could use replacement. However, I would prefer to have access to a garage for several days where I could do that work, which work may or may not come about, at least not soon.
I left the parking lot of the ap-mart and drove back to the w-mart to pound keys until after dark, when I packed out and drove back to the d-mart to overnight for another night. I will remain here in Lubbock for a few more days, at least until the weather forecast for Amarillo shows that there are no more nights of freezing temperature.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, walk inside for coffee, com and computer. I stay inside until about two this afternoon when I become disoriented and very dizzy which I do not appear to shake. I walk to the restroom and splash some water on my face but that does not help either. Finally, I pack out and walk to my van, which is just outside of the front door and climb into the side sliding door.
I then get into the horizontal and despite the warm temperature, I immediately fall asleep. I continue in the van, in the parking lot of the w-mart until after dark, when I rise up and because I feel somewhat better, I drive the distance of about one mile to the d-mart where I park in one of the spaces near the door so that I can make it to the restroom if it is necessary. Still, I have not eaten any thing since my midday meal and I do not expect that I will need to to go to the restroom.
Then for a very long night, I sleep, then awake, sleep and awake repeatedly. Each time I awake, I sit up to see if I am still dizzy and find that the dizziness is slowly diminishing. I am not sure what has caused this except for all of the restaurant food that I have been eating. I will try to do less of the restaurant food and more of my organic and healthy food.

Once inside, I set up my computer so that I may write in my journal. I also order a cup of Jade Citrus Mint tea so that I can get some liquid into my body and find the hot tea is just what I need and very tasty. Later, I go out to the jammer and make a cup of Daystart, bring it inside, add some hot water and then eat my morning meal while sipping on my hot tea. I am feeling a little bit better, but my one-thirty this afternoon, I feel very tired and so, pack out to go out to the jammer to take a nap.

I am not sure if I will come back in for the meeting tonight or just stay in the jammer and will decide after I take a nap.
By seven thirty, I am ready to drive to the d-mart so that I man park overnight. During the night, the temperature drops noticeably and I must get out a second blanket to continue sleeping warm. Methinks, if I was in Amarillo, then I would be using three blankets.

In the middle afternoon, a man sitting next to me asks me a question and then we begin talking about several things. As always, I endeavor to direct the conversation to Bible topics and I am able to make much headway in discussion of many of the characters in the book of Genesis, particularly the sons of Noah: Japeth, Ham, Shem and how they affected the different nations the way they are today. We continue for some time talking about several of the topics from the Bible. Too, he tells me his name is Jim, that he is a Bible reader. A little later, he says that he owns a coffee shop in Lamesa, Texas, and is here to purchase some supplies.
After he departs, I resume my key pounding for a couple more hours before I to, pack out and drive to the w-mart for the night.

While here, I work most all day on my website, organizing, redesigning and updating another gallery index. There are two sections in The Steps Gallery, which is a collection of both the Summit Trails upon which I have taken Steps Afoot as well as those Road Path journeys upon which I have taken Steps Afield.
I have begun working on those the Steps Afield first, primarily because there are so many of the Road Path Journeys making this index page much harder than the other one. As has been true throughout my life, I will always choose the hardest task first and accomplish it before I begin work on the task that would seem to be easier.
Furthermore, I have previously not found a perfect format for this Gallery Index but have struggled to design one.

Winter Sojourn, Day 43
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, park, walk inside with my technology back and buy a cup of coffee, check my com and then begin pounding keys and working on my web site. I update my Journey Paths Afield index and woke on completing some of the Paths taken.
At about six-thirty, I am totally done pounding keys and put away my computer, return to the jammer and drive north on Quaker Avenue to the d-mart where I locate a place to park for the night, climb in the back, have something to eat and then get in to the horizontal to rest up for what will come upon me on the morrow. I anticipate that I will be here through the weekend, departing Monday morning and only drive about 125 north on IH 27 to my next place where I will be overnighting for a time. That will be on the south loop of Amarillo at a location I have stopped often in my travels. Too, I will also have access to the state park just south of there where I will drive to for a hot shower or two, maybe even spend a couple nights camping in the park.
Further, I have been watching the weather in the upper panhandle and it appears that the freezing weather is now in the past.

Winter Sojourn, Day 44
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, start the jammer, drive south on Quaker Avenue the half mile or so to the w-mart, park the jammer, walk inside with my carry bag and set up my computer to pound keys and check my com. After a few minutes, I then rise, walk to the counter and use my rewards to purchase a free cup of hot tea. Next, I return to my table and begin a day of pounding keys and work on my web site.
Then, after a long day of hot liquids, key pounding and visiting with others in hopes of sharing some of the Word, I pack out, drive back to the d-mart to park for the night.

(Day 692 TN) 48°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 45
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, start the jammer engine, drive out of the parking lot of the d-mart, then south on Quaker Avenue less than a mile to the w-mart, where I pull into my parking space, grab my computer bag and go inside for hot coffee. Then, after checking my communications, I resume the work on my web site.
In the early afternoon, I look up and see that there is a dark storm cloud hanging low over the area and immediately afterwards it begins to rain. Surprised to see it rain here in this part of Texas, I walk outside to watch it for a few minutes, however, as soon as I arrive outside, it also begin to rain large hail stones as well. Not wanting to have the jammer damaged by the dime sized ice fall from the sky, I move the jammer into a parking space on the lee side of the coffee shop an in doing so, stop the hail stones from hitting the jammer with thin only exception being a portion of the top. Soon, the hail stops falling but the rain continues, so I move the jammer back to its regular parking spot.
Like the last several days, John and Danny stop by for a cup of coffee and something to eat and we continue out conversation about staying healthy by eating the right foods. Then, they leave and I return to pounding keys.
Later, long after dark, I pack out, drive to the d-mart for my last night here in this Texas city. I will move north tomorrow to access the last Texas state park on my northbound travel this year.

Winter Sojourn, Day 46
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and to pound keys. I continue working on a new map for The Royal Roads, Los Caminos Reales, the Royal Road paths of the Spanish missionaries. I am able to finish the map, well, enough for me to be able to upload it to the web site. As I learn more about the several missions and presidios that were built along those old highways, I will add more of their locations. Then, John and Danny arrive at the cafe and we continue visiting for a couple hours before they need to leave. I tell them good bye and also pack out and head north on IH 27, drive about one hundred and some miles before I exit onto SH 217, turn east and drive to the state park for a hot shower. I had wanted to camp for a night but the park was full and I just have to settle for some much needed hot water.
After taking my hot shower, I drive out of the park, west on SH 217 and the further north on IH 27 until I arrive at the exit for the south loop highway. After exiting the interstate, I drive to the w-mart, pull into the parking lot and park. Then, I go inside for the air conditioning and to continue pounding on my computer keyboard. Then, at six-thirty, I drive to the nearby Whataburger for a sandwich, after which, I drive to the d-mart, which is about three miles north of my location and locate a good place to overnight.

Awake to my first morning in Amarillo, having driven up from Lubbock yesterday. Too, I had stopped at the state park for a shower and change into clean clothes before driving into Amarillo.
Now that I am here in the top of Texas, my plans are to stay here until it becomes too hot at night for me to sleep comfortable, which I suspect will be about two weeks, at which time I will receive my monthly income deposit and have a good amount of money for travel. Too, when that deposit arrives, I will then consider moving to my next stop, but the question to myself is, Where will that be? and my answer is, Well, that depends entirely on the temperature.
Methinks, if it is very hot, then probably the easiest location to would be to drive about four and a half hours to Sante Fe, New Mexico and then escape to the top of the mountain at Big Tesuque campground for some near freezing nights. However, if the temperature is still relatively comfortable, then I could drive north about an hour and stay in Dumas, Texas at the free Texhoma campground. Then, after that, I would most likely drive to the Black Mesa state park in the western Oklahoma panhandle for a hot shower there because tent camping is only $16.00, but electric campsites are $25.00. Furthermore, Pagosa Springs, Colorado is not too far from the western Oklahoma panhandle.
I will keep checking the weather in the upcoming days and when the time comes to resume my migration north, I will then decide which route I will take.

Winter Sojourn, Day 48
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, start the jammer engine, drive to the trash receptacle and drop off my garbage. Then I drive south on Coulter Street about half a mile to the w-mart, park, grab my computer bag and go inside for some coffee, com and key pounding. I continue with updating the The Steps Gallery, having started with The Road Paths Journeys and along with updating the index, I am also updating each of the individual Road Path Journeys. There is so much to do with this gallery index but this definitely keeps me busy and out of trouble.
It is close to seven this evening when I pack out and leave the w-mart in search of something to eat. After acquiring a sandwich, I return to the d-mart and when I park in my regular, I find a dead zone for my cell phone, so I drive around in the parking lot to find a location with five bars and good reception.
I then park, climb into the rear of the jammer and watch a few videos before I turn off the lights and sleep.

Awake to a colder morning than it has been while here in the panhandle. I dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer, but not exactly in that order. Once I am sipping on the hot drink, I resume the website upgrade, still working in the Road Path Journeys.
Continuing until just before eight this evening, I create several new file template for the Road Path Journeys and then begin to use the files in updating my old files. Finally, I drive to the d-mart, park, chop up an onion, some celery, add mustard and some of my spice mix, then open a can of Albacore tuna to mix in and finally eat my supper while watching a few videos. Some time after ten this evening, I get into the horizontal.

(Day 700 TN) 49°F. 6:50 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 53
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, start the jammer, wait, it does not start, it just clicks when I turn the ignition. Methinks it can be one of two things, the battery or the starter, but because I know the battery is good, it must be the starter. I check in my diagnostics section of my Aerostar repair manual and it says the same thing, battery or starter.
Next, I call my friend Joe and tell him the specifics and he comes back, Starter. I thank him and we talk for a time during which he tells me that he is driving to Oklahoma for a couple of days.
After we hang up, I walk to the ap-mart, which is about two hundred yards and ask if they have a starter for my vehicle, to which he says yea, it will cost $150.00. I then ask if this it the same starter which is in the same van but only a 1994. He tells me that the 1984 calls for the same starter. Wow, methinks that I have been carrying around this starter all these years just for today so I do not have to buy one. I walk back to the jammer, call Joe to tell him the good news and says that is good for me.
I then get out the floor jack, lift the front left tire and begin removing the tire. Once the tire is off, I put it under the back of the rear tire and then begin looking at the work I will have to do. I remember that replacing the starter is not a very hard task, so I decide to change the oil at the same time I replace the starter. I have previously purchased a filter and container of five quarts of oil but have just been procrastinating and putting the oil change off. I do the oil change first, and afterwards, I put the old oil in an empty bottle of windshield wiper fluid. I then take all the trash and dirty rags to dump them in the garbage receptacle. Then upon returning to the jammer, I take the old starter off of the engine, look at it and see that I will need two electrical connectors to connect the new one. I look in one of my bins and find the connectors that I need and make the connection for the new starter. Next, I install the new starter, reconnect the positive cable to the battery and climb into the drivers seat to turn the ignition. The jammer starts like it was a new car. So, I call Joe one more time to thank him and tell him that his diagnostic was correct. Then, methinks, that was a lot easier than I was thinking when early this morning, I put the key in the ignition and the engine did not start. Finally, I put the tire back on the jammer, put my tools away, clean up and then drive to the w-mart to update my journal.
Afterwards, I drive back to the d-mart, park for the evening, climb into the back and by nine this evening, I get horizontal. Shortly after that, I receive a knock on my window and upon opening that window, an employee of the d-mart tells me that they do not allow overnight parking in their lot. I tell him Ok, climb back into the drivers seat and drive south on Coulter Street to Hollywood Road, turn left and drive to Canyon Drive where I park on Ventura Drive, which is the street directly behind the w-mart here at the south end of Amarillo, Texas. This is the same location where I have parked many times before at which I have never been disturbed. I climb back into the rear of the jammer and get back into the horizontal.
