The Journey Continues, 04 January 2020 through 12 April 2020
Having driven from southern California across the desert to Texas, then across the state to the Hill Country for a short stop, I then drive to the south of Texas in the Citrus Zone where I find my winter hiatus for one more cold season. Upon arriving, I begin putting together Episode Three, Journey to Lenapehoking, compiling it in the preformatted template that I had created earlier and the Story Keeper saga begins to take shape.
As the winds change, like they seem to always do, and it begins to warm up to a point where I begin to have a difficult time getting asleep at night, so, I pack out of the south of Texas and take a leisurely drive through first the hill country, then, the canyon country of the north Texas panhandle visiting several state parks, each of which I indulge in the hot water available.
Finally, in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, I head west again to continue what was begun last year in the fall, the restoration of the Palm Avenue rental property.

Overnighting on a street
Upon awaking, it is so very much colder than when I went to sleep last night and had to bring out an extra blanket to make the night through, even staying in the jammer until later this morning. I dress in my winter blues, walk into the w-mart for coffee, com and computer but do not stay for long because I need to pack out for the ministry meeting and the Circuit Overseer reminds us of the talk Sunday, Does God Care for You? which I am looking forward to.
I work with three other brothers today and do house to house in a neighborhood that is mostly Spanish, methinks near all of the residents along the Rio Grande are Spanish, as much as 90 percent or more.
Typical of the homes here are a fenced yard, back and front, a chain on the gate, dogs in the yard, and a sign stating Keep Out, or Beware of the Dog, or even No Trespassing, making most of the homes in this territory will have to be reached by letter writing. We still find a few people home and get to talk to some about the hope of the future in the paradise.
In the afternoon, I drive back to the w-mart to return to the key pounding. I complete, in Episode Three, the front matter and Passage One which introduces Craig and Sandy and follows them up to the beginning of their walk on the AT. This preliminarily draft is available on this website in the Burden Passage in the Store Books page. More of the book coming soon.
One the latest draft is uploaded, I pack out and head to the jammer for the night.
(Day 502 TG) 53°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Perihelion of Earth to Sun
Overnighting on a street
Awake late again this morning, rise, walk inside for coffee, com and computer. I begin working on the book because the meeting is not until one this afternoon. I find out that the perihelion occurred earlier this morning.
What is a perihelion? It is the closest that the earth comes to the sun reaching a distance of 91,398,199 miles from the sun, the shorter distance due to the slightly elliptical orbit around the sun. Too, it is not super hot at this close location to the sun because the northern hemisphere is tilted about 23 degrees away from the sun. Later this year, when the Earth is farthest from the sun called Aphelion on the th of July, 2020, the earth will be 94,507,635 miles from the sun. Interesting stuff!
At noon today, I go to the hall for the weekend meeting and the talk by the circuit overseer entitled Does God Care for You? which really shows from scripture just how much God does care for each of us. Later, after the Watchtower study, his second talk was "Do you really understand everlasting life?" which was such an amazing subject that he covered, examining how long everlasting life really is. Wow, makes me want to give up every thing here on this side of the Great Tribulation. After the meeting, I return to the w-mart to pound keys for a time more.
I have been thinking about driving up to Corpus Christi for a short visit and have decided to do it sooner than later. Too, when I am up coast, I will stop at Lake Corpus Christi state park for some hot water, which is a two and a half hour drive from my location now. The last place I went for hot water, Falcon state park was just a two hours drive. Methinks, this place that I winter at is quite distant to the state park hot showers and I have yet to find an alternative here. Still, the temperature is just right during winter.
At eight this evening, I pack out and retire to the jammer for the night.
(Day 503 TG) 54°F. 7:00 am, sunny, clear but humid
Overnighting on a street
After waking, I walk inside for hot tea, com and computer, yes, I am having green tea today instead of coffee and would like to keep doing this henceforth. I stay in the w-mart until ten this morning and then drive to the aw-mart to clean the engine compartment of the jammer. I had purchased a brush and foam engine cleaner earlier and want to see how they work. The foam goes on well, but I learned that if it is in direct sunlight, it dries up and evaporates quickly, making it hard to use the brush to scrub effectively with. I still clean the engine and it looks much better than before. Still, next time, I will do it without the direct sunlight. After spraying the engine to rinse off the soap, I then use the foam brush on the exterior to put on the clean and then rinse it too.
Leaving Harlingen on a run to get into hot water, I drive north on IH 69E to Robstown turn northwest on IH 37 and drive to Lake Corpus Christi state park, register to overnight with electric and then drive to campsite number 2. I plug in, begin charging batteries and set up my computer to catch up on the journal writing. Too, I set up to cook a pot of my Repast and when the meal is done, I bring it into the jammer and set it on the carpet behind the driver seat to let it cool while I drink the broth that I have drained from the cook pot.
Then at about five-thirty this evening, I notice that color has begun to form in the western sky, so not wanting to miss any opportunity to photograph a colorful sunset, I grab my camera and begin walking towards the lakeshore. Although thinking that there is not going to be much color, much less a spectacular sunset, I nevertheless continue towards the lakeshore, but just before the suntouch, I notice something peculiar in the sky.
Right away, I recognize the colorful display as a double
parhelion and immediately begin taking photos.
(b1a11-13-06.20200106.1719) The Sundog or Parhelion
I talk with a man who is loading a sail boat on to it′s trailer and tell him about the sundog, which he says that he has never seen before. He asks me, That is just a type of rainbow? to which I reply, Somewhat but there is a difference. A rainbow is formed when sunlight passes through water, a sundog is a halo which are formed when sunlight passes through ice crystals. He asks me how to spell it and I was not sure but I told him to do the search on sundog.
Then in just a matter of a couple minutes, the suntouch occurs, the sun sets and the parhelion is gone from the sky, not to be seen again today. However, the
sunglow remains in the sky and continues to grown in size and color. I too continue taking photos of one of the most spectacular sunsets that I have seen in several weeks.
When the color begins to fade, so do I so I return to the jammer, climb in and transfer the photos to my computer but do not stay up much longer and get into the horizontal not long after first spotting the Wolf moon, now about eighty percent full.
As I wait for sleep to arrive, methinks this has been a remarkable week, first the perihelion on Sunday and now a parhelion today. Having both happen within the period of two days has really solidified in my mind the difference between a
parhelion and a
perihelion.
(Day 504 TG) 55°F. 7:00 am, sunny, humid
Lake Corpus Christi State Park. CRS: 6.0
Awake, unplug, drive to Birds Nest Bathhouse and find the hot water here to be a few degrees hotter than in the one yesterday. Still, both were not steamy hot. After putting on the clean once again, I drive out of the state park, turn south on IH 37 and drive to a w-mart for a cup of hot, com and computer. Just next to the w-mart is a hg-mart where I will go later to purchase some organics.
I stay in the w-mart until late tonight, well after sunset, and afterwards go to a d-mart to find a place for the night.
So far, the temperature has been just as nice here in Corpus Christi as I have found it in Harlingen, especially since it has not been raining.
(Day 505 TG) 57°F. 8:00 am, sunny and clear with humidity
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to a very comfortable morning, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, cup of hot, com, and computer. At two this afternoon, I pack out to the jammer to go through my possessions to get out the gifts that I wanted to give to my friends tonight at the meeting. I do not think it will take long to put my hands on them and it does not. Next, I want to locate the hall that I will be going to tonight, so I leave here to drive there and find the hall by four-thirty.
Leaving the hall, I drive to a close by w-mart for some study time. Then, at six-thirty, I pack out, dress in my meeting clothes, and drive back to the hall for the meeting.
(Day 506 TG) 56°F. 6:00 am, cloudy
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake early, drive to the hall to go with Larry in the bus and truck stop ministry and then we arrive back at the hall for the ministry meeting. Next, we go into the door to door ministry and work a street in a neighborhood overlooking the Nueces river. We finish just before noon, return to the hall and then I leave the hall and drive back to the w-mart to take a nap.
In the late afternoon, I go into the d-mart to buy some groceries and then return to the jammer for the evening.
(Day 507 TG) 57°F. 6:00 am, cloudy
Full Wolf Moon
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot, com and computer. While here, I check the weather radar to find where the cloud cover ends but it appears that it is across the entire strip from Corpus to Laredo. However, the very bottom of Texas may be clear so I believe that I will head back the Valley today hoping to find clear sky for photographing the Wolf Moon. Upon arriving in Harlingen, Texas, the sky looks no better than in Corpus, so I turn right and take IH 2 west through the valley plain some forty-five miles until it turns back into US 83. Here I stop to clean up a mess in my van before resuming the drive to Falcon state park. Soon after resuming my drive, I begin to see the front that stretches from south to north on the horizon, the same front that was here on Day 503 TG when I came to the park for hot water.
Upon arriving in the park, I go directly to the shower house and get into the hot water, probably the hottest water in the entire state of Texas. I do so like getting into the hot water here in this park. Then, I drive to campsite #70, set up and take a nap. I have been very busy the last few days with the drive to Corpus, then four hours in the ministry with Larry which included two hours of walking from house to house, and then the long drive back to Harlingen and then to Falcon.
The sunset just did not do well tonight, neither is the moon visible at this time because of the cloud cover to the east. I get up later in the night when the moon has moved westward toward the clear sky on the horizon and get some good photos. I awake in the morning before sunrise but the moon is still high as it is at sunrise.
I do get several photos during the night and will upload them later.
(Day 508 TG) 48°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Falcon State Park, CRS: 9.0
Upon arising, I drive to the shower house for my second hot shower and how I do so love the hot shower here. After time in the hot water, I pack out and drive back towards Harlingen, Texas. I do stop for gas and again for groceries after which I continue to the w-mart adjacent to the junction of IH 2 and IH 69E arriving at just after noon.
Going in, I work on the computer until nearly seven in the evening after which I pack out to the jammer for the night.
(Day 509 TG) 60°F. 6:00 am, partly cloudy
Overnighting on a street
Up at the alarm, walk inside for a cup of hot, com and computer. Then, at noon, I pack out and drive to the hall for the weekend meeting and many of the friends come up and say welcome back to me. After the meeting, I drive back to the w-mart for more computer.
At eight this evening, I pack out to the jammer and climb in to the back for a night of rest.
(Day 510 TG) 68°F. 6:00 am, rain
Overnighting on a street
After a warm night, I awake to a wet morning, rise, dress, walk inside for a cup of hot, com, and computer. Then, at eight-thirty, I pack out and drive to the hall for the ministry meeting and work with Craig, Allan and Fabian and we do not at homes, finding quite a few people at home today. After three hours, we return to the hall and I drive back to the w-mart to continue pounding keys.
Then, at five this evening, I pack out and go to look for a place to get a haircut and afterwards, return again to be inside where it is air conditioned and wait for the outside to cool off enough for me to go out to the jammer and sleep.
(Day 511 TG) 69°F. 7:30 am, cloudy
Overnighting on a street
Sleep later after staying up late last night to stay cool inside the w-mart. These warm winter nights are tough to deal with but leaving here in January will only bring colder weather that is harsher than I desire. Therefore, I will endure here in the citrus zone for a time yet.
I stay inside of the w-mart until after ten and when I then go outside and find a cool breeze, I pack out to the jammer, drive to a d-mart and get into the horizontal.
(Day 512 TG) 70°F. 7:30 am, cloudy
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dump my garbage, drive to the w-mart, park and go inside for the cool air conditioned air. Another day with high in the eighties which I will remain inside all day and I do.
However, at three this afternoon, I step outside and find a cool breeze, so I pack out and begin working on the jammer. I take the front left headlight door off of the jammer and run the electrical charging harness for a deep cell battery through the driver side fender and turn it through a rubber plug to under the dash just behind the drivers door. From there, I run the harness under the door bottom panel to behind the drivers seat and coil the excess wire there to be attached to the deep cell battery on another day.
The other end of the harness enters the engine compartment through the same hole as the headlight harness does and then is routed along the driver-side firewall beside the battery and is coiled next to the isolator that was also install today. I hope to connect the ends soon but it gets dark and I must leave off this for now.
Finally, I go to a local f-mart and have grilled fish and three green vegetables for supper, after which, I return to the w-mart, park and retire for the evening.
(Day 513 TG) 50°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting on a street
Awake, dress, walk inside to do hair and teeth, then a cup of hot, resume the work on the electrical charging harness.
First, I connect the charging wire from the alternator to the isolator, then add a jumper wire from the isolator to where the charging wire had been connected. This will bring the charging current through the isolator so that the current will also charge the deep cell battery. I had forgotten how easy that was to do when I initially installed this harness on the
1994 Aerostar.
Next, I go inside the jammer and work on the connections here. After, connecting the terminals to the power and ground wires, I decide that it is time to purchase the deep cell battery and go into the ap-mart and buy the battery. Then, I connect the wires from the isolator to the battery, connect the wires from the inverter and turn on the inverter to test. It beeps and the green light comes on. I am so totally surprised by how easy this installation has progressed.
I then return to the w-mart, walk into the rest room and clean up from the auto work, return to the jammer and get dressed for the meeting and drive there arriving at shortly after seven this evening.
After the meeting, I return to the w-mart, park on the street and climb into the back of the jammer. It is another warm night.
(Day 514 TG) 67°F. 6:00 am, cloudy
Overnighting on a street
Awake, dress, walk inside, hair and teeth, hot tea, com, computer.
Then, after a day of mostly playing games, I walk back out to the jammer to get into the horizontal. It is another warm night.
(Day 515 TG) 68°F. 6:00 am, cloudy
Overnighting on a street
Rising early, I dress, go inside to comb my hair and then return to the jammer. Then, leaving Harlingen, I drive west on US 2 and continue for the hundred miles to Falcon Park to camp and shower again. I take up my regular campsite again and it is available because the campground is not near as crowded as it has been during the past several years. In fact, there are many spaces available all around me.
I plan to stay here for several days to make use of the solitude so as to get back into working on Episode Three. I am hoping that this will also get me through the sickness that I have been experiencing because I will not have available the luxury of eating restaurant foods during my time in Falcon Park.
After setting up camp, I walk across the park road and say hello to Marty, a long time Falcon camper from Nova Scotia. Marty is a few years older than I am and also believes in eating what I call
Living Food. He tells me that his wife died a few years back from Lou Gehrig′s disease, a disease that I have not researched but hope to some day soon. However, for now, I involve myself in my book writing and continue all day.
After our talk, I return to the jammer, cook my Repast, and then put away the cooking gear. I climb into the jammer and begin pounding keys on the computer and working on the book. When it becomes dark, there is no sunglow to speak of, so I turn on the light that is plugged into the inverter to continue working but do not stay up too late.
By eight this evening, I have turned off the technology, lights and climb into the sack for the night.
(Day 516 TG) 44°F. 6:50 am, dark
Falcon State Park, space 69
Upon rising, I dress and then drive to the shower house for a hot shower after which, I check the recreation house but at eight-thirty this morning, it is still not open. I return to the jammer, climb into the back and begin pounding keys to continue in the task of book writing. For my morning meal, I have some leftover Repast. At ten, it warms up somewhat for me to boil a pot of water and make a cup of coffee, one of tea and a water bottle of spark. With these now available, I am able to continue pounding keys most of the rest of the day.
After a day full of writing work, I feel that I have accomplished quite a lot and even talked on the phone to Gordon for a time. Finally, at eight-thirty this evening, I put away the technology and get horizontal.
(Day 517 TG) 45°F. 7:00 am, cloudy
Falcon State Park, space 69
Awake, dress, turn on the jammer to warm up the interior and then at seven-thirty, I see the sun shining through the trees near the eastern horizon. I grab my camera, slip on my sandals and get out for a photo but it is not a great scene for photos so get back into the jammer and continue pounding keys to start my journal entry for day. Once I catch up journaling, I drive to the shower house for some hot water.
(Day 518 TG) 51°F. 7:00 am, cloudy
Overnighting on a street
Awake, dress in my winter blues, walk inside for hot tea, com, and computer. I resume working on Episode Three and do so all day, still composing First Home and creating maps for that passage. At nine this evening, I pack out, walk to the jammer and climb into the back to get horizontal.
At almost midnight, a police officer knocks on my side window and when I open it to him, he asks for my identification. He tells me that he is checking on me, asking why I am parking here to which I tell him that I come here for the winter to stay warm and dry. He finally gives my drivers license back and wishes me well. This is the second time that a police officer of Harlingen has knocked on the jammer during the night since I have been here.
(Day 519 TG) 61°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting on a street
Awake, dress, walk inside for hot tea, com and computer. Some time around noon, the rain stops and the sun comes out to dry up everything.
Then at two in the afternoon, I pack out and go looking for a l-mart to do my dirty laundry. I stop at the first one and find the wash is $2.00 and dry is $1.25 much more for the dry than I prefer but I do my laundry here anyway thinking, I will not come back here again. However, now that job is done and I can go back to writing Episode Three.
Returning to the w-mart, I take my place in the corner and resume pounding keys and continue at the computer until dark. Afterwards, I go for a meal of grilled fish, vegetables and lemon water. Then, I return to my parking space on the street next to the w-mart and get horizontal.
(Day 520 TG) 54°F. 7:00 am, partly cloudy
Overnighting on a street
The alarm awakes me and I rise, dress in my winter blues, walk into the w-mart for hot tea, com and computer. I spend all day working on Methuselah's story and then print and upload an updated file to the website. After this, I pack out to the jammer, put on my meeting clothes and drive to the hall for the midweek meeting.
I am always so impressed when I come to this hall because so many of the friends come up to me and greet me saying, Hello brother Beerus. I now use the mnemonic I will get the Beer for US to explain how to pronounce my last name and nearly everyone who hears it can remember my last name. Here at this hall, so many of the friend greet me so. I am glad that the brother who told me this mnemonic did so. After the meeting, I return to the w-mart, park on the street and prepare for a night of rest.
(Day 521 TG) 49°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting on a street
Another beautiful day in the citrus zone with very comfortable temperatures. I spend much of it inside the w-mart working on Episode three. Then, at seven, I drive to the Cracker Barrel for fish and vegetables.
Afterwards, I return to park on the street by the w-mart for the night.
(Day 522 TG) 59°F. 6:50 am, sunny
Overnighting on a street
Awake before my alarm, rise, dress in my winter blues, walk into the w-mart, cup of hot tea, com, computer. At eight-thirty this morning, I pack out to the jammer, dress in my meeting clothes and drive to the hall for the ministry meeting.
I work with Robert, Natalia, and Fabian. We drive to do the not at homes in Fabian′s territory and I am able to talk with Joe who invites me back to continue showing him more from the Bible. Afterwards, I return to the w-mart and finish chapter four in Episode Three. Then, I upload it to the internet and put a link on the Book page for anyone to download.
Finally, I pack out and drive to Chipotle for supper, hoping to see Marz there to tell him hello. However, he is not there so after supper, I return to the w-mart to park and then get into the back.
(Day 523 TG) 50°F. 6:40 am, clear
Overnighting on a street
Another morning awake before the alarm, rise, go inside for hot tea, com and computer, which I work on until noon. Then, I pack out, dress in my meeting clothes and drive there where I really enjoy the talks and study. Afterwards, I return go for lunch at the cafeteria and have grilled fish, cabbage, okra, jalapeno bread and lemon water. After that, I return to the w-mart and resume pounding keys.
The sun sets by six but I continue in the refrigerator (w-mart) for another hour or so before retiring to the jammer for the night.
(Day 524 TG) 58°F. 6:50 am, fog
Overnighting on a street
Awake, dress, walk inside for hot tea, com and computer. At nine, I pack out and drive north on IH 02 to go for my weekly hot shower. I once told a brother that I take a hot shower once a week if I need it or not and we both laughed because I was joking, now it seems to have come true.
At nine, I leave the w-mart and drive to the d-mart for some organic vegetables. I had an idea about what to prepare in the cook pot tonight and purchased the organics and then set the GPS for Falcon park. It takes about two hours before I arrive at the entrance, pay my ten dollars and drive to camp site number 69.
After pulling in to the space, I then begin pulling buckets of my stuff out of the jammer and then sorting and discarding unnecessary items. Before finishing, I end up taking three full grocery bags to the garbage can.
Next, I begin cutting up the vegetables: cabbage, zucchini, yams, onions, ginger, and bell pepper. Then, I add the yams and ginger to the bone broth that I have already heated and bring the broth to a boil. Then, I add one cup of sprouted rice, one tablespoon of TWS, one tablespoon of seaweed and continue boiling for another five minutes. Next, I add the zucchini, pepper, onion, whole mushrooms and cabbage and continue another ten minutes.
While cooking my supper, I am also keeping an eye on the sunset because with the sky being absolutely clear, there is promise of getting a photo of the suntouch. However, I become busy with the cook pot and nearly miss the
suntouch.
Still, I am able to take two photos of the last seconds as it drops below the Sierra Madre mountain. After that, the sunglow continues for quite a long time until the moon and
Jupiter continue to shine brighter as the sunglow wanes.
(b1a11-13-06.image) The
Sunglow at Falcon Park, Texas
Finally, I split the cook pot soup into two pots and to the smaller pot, I add a tin of salt free, wild caught sardines. When to food is done, I put both cook pots in the jammer, secure the area and drive to the shower house to get into the hot water, so nice to once again get into hot water.
After returning to camp, I set up my computer, plug it into the inverter and begin pounding keys while I eat the newest recipe of my Repast. I try the one with the sardines and it is so good that I eat the entire cook pot of it first. Then, I have a cup of the Repast without the fish and it is ok but not quite as good as the one with fish.
(Day 525 TG) 55°F. 6:10 am, cloudy
Falcon State Park, CRS: 9.0
Awake long before dayspring and turn on the computer to pound keys until eight this morning when I drive to the shower house and put on the hot water. After soaking a long time, I drive to the recreation center for the WiFi but it just does not seem to be working well. So, I pack out and head south back into the city. I arrive in Harlingen at noon, stop at the cafeteria and have a fish and vegetable meal. Then, I return to the w-mart, turn on my computer and resume pounding keys.
At eight this evening, I pack out to the jammer and have some vegetables to eat and then get into the horizontal for the night.
(Day 526 TG) 49°F. 6:50 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting on a street
Awake a couple of times this morning but go back to sleep. Then, I rise, dress in my winter blues, walk into the w-mart for hot tea, com and computer. Another day of pounding keys but like yesterday, I just am not motivated. Maybe I will be so tomorrow. I pack out at about seven-thirty and head to the jammer. I still have vegetables that I need to eat but not being cooked, they are no where near as appetizing as the hot soup was Monday evening
Still, I eat what I can because I do not really like to get out my stove when I am parking in a city. I read for a while and then get horizontal for the night.
(Day 527 TG) 51°F. 6:30 am, sunny
Overnighting on a street
I awake to another day in the citrus zone and except for the third week in January when the temperature were a bit too hot for me, this six week sojourn on the Rio since arriving here on Day
488 TG has been close to the best winter, temperature wise, ever. I am now awaiting for my new shoes to arrive at the d-mart, which, when they do, I will begin my next journey to follow the comfortable spring temperatures northward.
Then, I check my com again and there is an email informing me that my shoes have arrived. I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the d-mart and go to the counter to receive my new meeting shoes. I then put them on and walk out of the d-mart, and still wearing the new shoes, go to the g-mart to purchase some vegetables. By the time I have walked through the store, I have decided that the shoes are keepers and then head back to the w-mart to pound keys until it is time to drive to the hall for the midweek meeting.
At the meeting, I tell the friends that this Sunday will be my last day here in the Valley and I will begin my journey north soon after the meeting.
After the meeting, Frank and another elder who I have not yet learned his name ask to talk with me. The elders share a couple of scriptures with me to encourage me and then ask if I need anything, to which I tell them, I am doing good, just need the paradise. Frank tells me that he has a business near the La Feria assembly hall which has RV hookups and the business has a shower and laundry that I am welcome to use. I thank him and again tell him, for now, I am good.
Afterwards, I return to my place on the street next to the w-mart and retire for the evening.
(Day 528 TG) 49°F. 8:00 am, overcast
Overnighting on a street
Sleep late this morning then rise, dress in my winter blues and walk into the w-mart for my hot tea, com and key pounding.
After a long day of sitting at a table working on the computer, I retire to the jammer for the night.
(Day 529 TG) 46°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting on a street
Sleep in again today, then rise, dress in my winter blues and walk inside to the w-mart. Then, at eight-thirty this morning, I pack out, dress in my meeting clothes and drive to the hall for the ministry meeting. I work with John and Mario in the door to door work, after which we do a few calls. After we finish for the morning, I return to the w-mart for more key pounding.
In the evening, a young lady sits at the table next to me and I see that she is drawing on her I-pad. When I comment that I draw also, we begin to converse and she tells me that her name is Zharraine. Soon, I am sharing a couple of Bible verses with her and show her the JW.org website where she can read and study the Bible.
Finally, I pack out to the jammer, climb into the back and get horizontal.
(Day 530 TG) 50°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, walk inside for hot tea, com and computer. After working on the book for a few hours, I pack out, dress in my meeting clothes and drive to the hall. Afterwards, I go to the cafeteria with Frank, Jessica, and their two sons. Frank asks me how I came into the truth and I respond, There is two versions, hand him my card, and say, This is the long version.
Then, I tell him the sort version, keeping it to less than two minutes. Jessica asks if I like some Mexican food and I tell her, When it come to food, I have never found any that I dislike. and say that I even like menudo. She says that when I come back to the valley, they will invite me over for some menudo. I had a really nice time with this family tonight.
I leave there and drive back to the w-mart, walk inside and continue pounding keys until ten this evening.

The Journey North from the
Coastal Plains
|
|
|
(Day 531 TG) 55°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting on a street
Awake, dress, drive to the d-mart to fill up my gas tank and then leave Harlingen north on IH 63E heading for Corpus Christi as my first stop on the drive north. However, before I stop in Corpus, I drive north on IH 37 to Lake Corpus Christi state part to get into the hot water. After taking a shower, I stop at the picnic area and set up to prepare a cook pot of cabbage soup. Once the soup is done, I put it in the jammer and then head back to town stopping at the w-mart.
Then, at eight this evening, I drive to the d-mart, park for the evening and get into the back to read for a while before turning off my devises.
(Day 532 TG) 60°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for hot tea, com and computer.
I pound keys the entire day and when it begins to grow dark outside, I walk out of the store to look at the sky and see that it is quite a colorful one. Then I return back to the computer and continue pounding keys.
(Day 533 TG) 42°F. 6:00 am, overcast, windy
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart and then sit in the jammer to update my GPS which requires a twelve volt plug to keep powered. After that is complete, I look for hg-marts and find one that was not listed the last time I was her. I drive there and purchase groceries. Then I drive to a w-mart and since my computer is already set up on the jammer desk, I just get into the back, long on to WiFi and stay in the jammer to pound keys. Then, at four this afternoon, I drive out of the city back to the interstate highway junction where I have been awaiting for the meeting tonight and there do my study for the meeting.
Just before seven this evening, I drive to the hall, walk in and enjoy the spiritual fellowship with the friends at the Airport congregation here in Corpus Christi. Afterwards, I drive back to the d-mart, park and get into the back to read for a while and then turn off the device and get into the back of the jammer.
It is suppose to get cold tonight, even into the high 30s, so I get out one blanket and put it on top of my sleeping bag. I then get into the sleep position.
(Day 534 TG) 39°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
There are a lot of large trucks that park in this d-mart parking lot and most leave their engines running all night. I do not like to listen to a diesel engine idling all night, so I seek out a spot where they are not parked. However, after I go to sleep, another truck pulls in near to me and I have to listen after that. When, I get up, I drive out of the parking lot and see a spot that looks to not attract the large trucks and methinks I will park here tonight. I drive to the w-mart, walk inside, check my com and begin pounding keys. Later, I go up to the counter and have my cup filled with hot tea.
I then continue pounding keys, working on Chapter Five the Story of Sem and get the first few pages written. I stop pounding keys at ten, drive to the d-mart and take my place among the shopping baskets strewed all about the asphalt for one more night.
(Day 535 TG) 44°F. 6:00 am, overcast
Overnighting in a parking lot
Upon may awaking, I go inside the d-mart to put money on my store card so that I will get a discount on the store gasoline. I then drive to the gas-mart and instead of the listed price of $1.91 per gallon, I receive a discount to $1.88 per gallon, the lowest since I have arrived in Texas. After filling my tank, I leave Corpus and drive north on IH 37 to San Antonio and go to two of the hg-marts here to stock up my pantry. Once I have finished shopping for groceries, I drive to the e-mart and ask if they have the phone that I have been shopping for all winter, one with 32 gigabytes of RAM, because I have had my current phone for over three years and it short on RAM, only 16 gigabytes for what I would like to use it for.
The clerk says yes, it is $180.00 for the unlocked phone. I decide to purchase it and she loads my SIM and D-RAM cards, checks it and says, It is working. I then leave the store, drive north east out of the city on IH 35 to San Marcos where I stop at a w-mart and begin uploading apps to the phone, the first one being the JW Library, after which, I spend the rest of the day, downloading apps and signing in to each. Upon arriving at the w-mart, it is crowded, so I set up my computer in the jammer, plug it into the inverter and begin working on the phone set up.
By nine something, I stop, put away the computer and get into the horizontal. I read in the Bible for a little while and then turn the lights and pull the covers over my head.
(Day 536 TG) 49°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Overnighting in a parking lot
After rising this morning, I put on my winter blues, drive to the burger store to buy egg and bacon burritos and a senior coffee which at this store is always free. With my breakfast onboard, I resume the northeast drive on IH 35 to Austin and go to the third hg-mart to finish my food shopping. Afterwards, I drive to the o-mart to ask about replacing my flashlight but I am told that it is out of warranty. I leave there and drive southwest on IH 35 and stop in Kyle, Texas at the w-mart here.
I take my computer bag and phone inside and continue working on setting up the apps. After completing that, I then list my older phone on the internet sales site for fifty dollars and hope for it to sell. After dark, I update my journal entry, upload it to the website and play some solitaire until I become to tired to continue sitting here in the w-mart.
I leave the w-mart, drive to the d-mart and find a place to park for the evening.
(Day 537 TG) 60°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Last night, as the clouds were overwhelming the night sky and destroying any chance of taking a photo of the full moon, I waited for some time and it finally paid off.
Awake after a warm night to an overcast and dark morning, drive in the rain to the w-mart for hot tea, com and computer. Then I work all day pounding keys on different tasks.
The weather for all this week does not look very good, in fact, it will be raining most all week. I hope that I will be able to drive the jammer into a covered space so that I can replace the front brakes. Suppose that I will see what happens when I arrive at the ranch tomorrow.
At eight-thirty, I pack out, drive to the d-mart and park for the evening.
(Day 538 TG) 57°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to a ff-mart for a senior coffee and then leave out of Kyle on IH 35 south to Sam Marcos where I stop at a hg-mart and shop for some more organic vegetables. Once I check out, I drive to the w-mart, park, walk inside and use the WiFi to check meeting times in Wimberley, which I fine are Tuesday night at seven-thirty for the midweek meeting.
Then, I call Susan to tell her that I am on my way, drive the twenty something miles to the ranch, drive onto the drive way and I see that Susan has open the gate for me. I drive in and park in one of the guest parking spaces, and Susan comes up to greet me. Then together, we walk to the chicken coop to feed the birds the discarded food scraps. After that, we walk to the lodge and Chad fixes me a cup of coffee. Then, I walk back to the jammer and bring in all of the vegetables so that I can prepare a pot of soup. Lauren comes in to greet me and I give her a taste of the broth.
When the soup is done, I offer everyone a bowl and they all say that they like the soup but only Lauren goes back to get seconds. So, I suspect that Susan and Chad were just being nice and really did not like my soup.
A time later, Susan and Lauren leave for Austin, Texas to do some shopping and I stay in the lodge with Chad to watch some television but during the entire time, I am making more of my Wayfarer′s Fudge.
At eleven this evening, I pack out my things, tell Chad good night and walk out to the jammer to prepare for my night′s rest.

(Day 539 TG) 29°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting in Ranch parking
Awake to another rainy day, dress, walk to the lodge and go inside to make a cup of coffee. I then work on my document box to organize the papers. At three-thirty, I go into Susan and Chad′s room to take a shower, after which I get ready for the meeting tonight.
At the meeting, several of the friends greet me by my name, oh sin′t this brotherhood wonderful. It has been years since I was here last and I am still treated like family. I learn that the circuit overseer will be here beginning next Tuesday. After the meeting, I drive back to the ranch, park the jammer and then go into the lodge to work on my storage bins.
Later, Susan and I watch one of her movies, a sci-fi about super heroes who fight against the demon-gods of Asgard. I enjoy the movie but can not forget the fact that it′s origins are in ancient Norse mythology about the time when the sons of disobedient angels lived on the earth and ruled as gods. It is late when I walk out to the jammer for the night.
(Day 540 TG) 33°F. 8:00 am, overcast
Overnighting in Ranch parking
Awake late, walk into the lodge for coffee, com and work on my storage bin until Susan walks in. After she does some cleaning in the lodge, I ride with her to town, first to the Mail Stop to retrieve my mail and next to the g-mart where I buy some organic vegetables, coconut milk and spring water. Then we return back to the ranch where Chad tells us that he is making barbecue ribs. I continue with my storage bins and when Chad rings the dinner bell, I walk into the kitchen for a plate of ribs, cooked greens, and a cup of greens broth.
Afterwards, I sit and watch the television with Chad for an hour or so before retiring to the jammer for the night.
(Day 541 TG) 38°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in Ranch parking
Awake in time to see the sun rising through the trees to the west of the lodge, and think that it is warmer this morning than it has been the last two days. I then dress, walk into the lodge, set up my computer and catch up on my journal. Then, at eleven this morning I check the temperature outside and it is 47 degrees so I decide to go out to the jammer and begin work on the front brakes.
(Day 542 TG) 36°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in Ranch parking
Last night was a three blanket night. Awake this morning, walk into the lodge for coffee, com and computer. I download a couple of files and then e-mail them to myself so that I can access the file on my phone. Susan comes in and then goes out to herd the chickens. I work on my storage bins until one-thirty and then I go outside to work on the jammer to remove the spare from the roof and trade it with the front left tire which has just begun to show cords.
The tire from atop the jammer has the same wear pattern on the inside of the tread bur should last up to five thousand miles or maybe a little more. I will begin my search for both a place to have the front end aligned and to buy two new tires. When I had replaced the front shocks and the two tie rod ends, I knew that I would later need to align the front end and buy tires but I had hoped to also replace the top two ball joints before that was necessary. Still, I hope that I may still replace those two ball joints.
When I have finished trading the tires and tightening the lug nuts, I put away the floor jack, tools and the go back inside to watch One Planet on the television and really enjoy learning about mountain, rivers and new animals. After the program, I eat supper with Chad, Susan and Lauren, after which I read more in the new book that I have purchased.
Next, I get out my book and read until ten this evening and then go out to the jammer. It is really cold again so I turn on the jammer engine, and let it run while the heater warms up the inside. Finally, I turn off the engine, climb under the covers and turn of the lights to sleep for the night.
(Day 543 TG) 50°F. 7:00 am, overcast, humid
Overnighting in Ranch parking
Awake, walk inside the lodge for coffee, com and to update my journal. At eight-thirty, I walk back to the jammer to retrieve my meeting clothes, return to the lodge to dress and then back to the jammer to drive to the hall for the ministry meeting.
(Day 544 TG) 55°F. 8:00 am, fog
Overnighting in Ranch parking
After awaking late, I go inside briefly and then return to the jammer to dress in my meeting clothes. Then I drive to the gate, get out to push the button and then drive towards the road. As I turn the bend, I see the goats in the rocky pasture and stop to take a photograph.
(m2cont-nam-04-tx-4k-20200216.0935) The Goats at Wimberley Valley Ranch
Arriving at the hall, I walk inside and drop my books on a seat and then visit with the friends until the meeting starts. After the meeting, I stay for a time to get to know the friends better.
On my drive back to the ranch, I come upon the
Sign Pole and see the sign for Jacobs Well on the left of it. I then decide to drive to the spring so that I may take some photos. I turn to the right, drive a short distance to Jacobs Well Natural Area, enter the park and drive to the parking lot. I then drive in my walking clothes and begin the half mile trail to the spring. From the many information signs along the route, I learn quite a bit about Jacobs Well.
I take the upper trail to the top of the cliffs above the well and take photos here. I climb down to the water level and take more photos. Finally, I walk back to the parking lot, drive back to the ranch and have so leftover cabbage soup that I had make yesterday.
At seven this evening, I drive out of the ranch, set my GPS for Dripping Springs and drive north sixteen miles and park in the g-mart for the night.
(Day 545 TG) 60°F. 7:00 am, fog
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake before the alarm, rise, drive to the w-mart, buy a cup of coffee, check my com and then pound keys for the rest of the morning.
Then, at noon, I pack out of the w-mart, set my GPS and drive to Hamilton′s Pool only to find out that on weekends and holidays, a reservation is needed. Since today is a holiday, I am not allowed to enter the park but leave there and return to Dripping Springs to await on the morrow.
I return to the w-mart and work for the rest of this day on Episode Three, developing artwork for the completed chapters. At nine this evening, the store closes and I retire to a nearby parking lot.
(Day 546 TG) 63°F. 7:00 am, thick fog and rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Upon awaking, I drive to the w-mart to await for the fog to dissipate, however, it persists through the noon hour into the afternoon. I had wanted to go to Hamiltons Pool today but do not want to photograph it without have the sun shining, so I remain at the w-mart all day and continue to pound keys.
Then, after the sun sets, I drive to the Wimberley, stop at a g-mart, park, climb into the back to read for a time before going to sleep.
(Day 547 TG) 50°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, walk into the g-mart to buy coffee, return to the jammer and put on my meeting clothes. Then, I drive to the hall and wait for the friends to arrive for the ministry meeting at nine this morning. I walk inside and enjoy the short presentation by the circuit overseer. I am assigned to work with three brothers, Patrick, Michael and Sterling. We work in a normally gated community but for the time, the gate is open due to construction there.
Afterwards, I drive back to Dripping Springs, turn east on US 209 and drive until I arrive at a d-mart. I stop here and check to see if the store has the correct tires for the jammer. The do so I then check on the GPS for a place to have the front end aligned and find one to be less than two miles south. As I am leaving the parking lot, I see another tire store, a different company but stop here to check for their price. I then make an appointment for tomorrow morning at eleven. Next, I drive back to the d-mart and have two new tires installed on the front of the jammer.
Finally, I park in the parking lot at the d-mart and wait for the morrow to come.
(Day 548 TG) 46°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake after hearing rain pound down on the roof of the jammer all night, dump my trash in the parking lot garbage can, and then drive five miles to a w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Also near by is an ap-mart where I have ordered two new ball joint for the jammer front suspension, also to be installed before the alignment is done. At nine-thirty, I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the ap-mart to acquire the ball joints and then drive back to the ar-mart for the alignment.
(Day 549 TG) 31°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
After a cold night, I rise, dress in my winter blues and drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. At eleven-thirty, I pack out and drive to the ranch to bid my family goodbye. I will still be in the area to make the meetings with the circuit overseer but I will not be going back to the ranch after this visit. Too, Susan told me that she is not happy, that she is so stressed out and was not able to spend much time with me today. After she told me that, I tell her that I am leaving here and will not be back for some time. She looks at me, says a warm good by and gives me at hug. I do not tell her, but I have decided to pray for her so that she may find the happiness she is looking for.
I follow her out of the gate and she heads to run an errand for Chad and I return to Dripping Springs to spend the night. I stop first at the w-mart and catch up on my journal writing.
I have been wanting to look at least one more features of the hill country and now have decided not to go to Hamilton′s pool but have been looking at the Enchanted Rocks as my next stop. It is about seventy miles from my location and I am hoping to camp there in the park. Even if I can not camp, the campground does have a shower house so I hope that I will at least be able to get into the hot water there.
Then, I drive to the parking lot in Dripping Springs where I will spend the night, climb into the rear of the jammer and read for a bit in the Bible.
(Day 550 TG) 38°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Another cold night but with two covers I sleep very well. I arise, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. At eight-thirty, I pack out, dress in my meeting clothes and drive to the hall for the ministry meeting. Afterwards, I go into
Wimberley for a stop at the cafe.
I then drive west on SH 3233 to Fischer Store Road, turn south and drive towards the town of Fischer and on the way, cross over the Blanco River where a sign names this location
Stone Canyon.
I continue to Fischer, Texas to see the
Fischer Store, stop, park in front and take a few photos here, both outside in the front and inside.
Next, I drive west on SR 32, through Blanco, Texas and then west on two county roads to Luckenbach, Texas where I stop at the
General Store/Post Office to buy a couple of stickers to put on the back window of the jammer. This place in Texas has become such a turkey shoot. I still like the store and the setting simply because of the song sung by Waylon Jennings, but the hoards of turkeys, I can do without.
Then, I drive on SH 1376 to US 290 and turn west to Fredericksburg, Texas, stop at a hs-mart to buy some groceries after which I drive out of town and see some
longhorns. I continue north on SH 965, to the
Enchanted Rock state park but like Hamilton pool, this park can only be accessed on weekends by reservation. So I drive by and take photos from the state highway. Continuing north on SH 965, I turn north on SH 16 to Llano, Texas.
Since I was not able to get into the Enchanted Rock park, that means that I am not able to take the hot shower I had wanted to, so instead, I decide to drive east on SH 29 to Inks Lake state park and take one there. On the way to the hot shower, I see a
lighthouse on Lake Buchanan.
I continue to the state park, take a shower and afterwards, begin the trip back to Llano, Texas, and stop at a
viewpoint overlooking Inks Lake and take some photos. After my hot shower, I back track through Llano, Texas, then northwest on SH 71 and arrive in Brady, Texas where I will park in the d-mart for the night but stop for something to eat first.
I spend the night here so that I can go to the weekend meeting here at the Hall. Also, arriving in Brady, takes me to the extreme northern area of the hill country and leaving northward will put me into the Great Plains, which I plan to travel through and visit parks for a couple of days.

(Day 551 TG) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the ff-mart for coffee, com and computer. Then, at nine-thirty, I dress in my meeting clothes and drive to the hall. I listen to the public talk but it is not until after the meeting that I find out that the guest speaker is a brother who worked at the same company as me in Seabrook, Texas. I talk with Mark and his wife Carolyn afterwards for a short time.
Afterwards, I drive north out of town on US 283 to Coleman, Texas, switch to US 84 and continue north to Abilene, where I leave US 84 and drive west on IH 20 to Sweetwater, Texas and locate the d-mart where I stop for the night.
I put up all of my window blinds, then climb into the back of the jammer, get out my computer and endeavor to catch up on my journal writing, when turning my head toward the front passenger side see that there is some color developing outside.
So, I grab my camera, open the sliding door and see that the sky is really not too impressive, so I step back into the jammer and continue pounding keys.
After another twenty minutes, I look again, and wow, has the sky totally changed into something
beyond description. I begin snapping photos including the reflections on the jammer. It only last for a few seconds before the color fades but I am able to get a few good photos, despite there being stores and a parking lot in it.
I finally get back into the jammer and shut down my electronics so that I can get into the horizontal.
(Day 552 TG) 36°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my winter blues, and after orienting myself, I drive east along the feeder road of IH 20 to SH 70, which I turn north on and drive thru mostly flat cotton fields, that have been plowed and await the seed in the spring. I can tell that the fields have been growing cotton because there are remnants of cotton all around the edges. At this point, methinks that since I am in the High Plains, I should at least stop at some of the geological features here in order to take some photos.
After driving north all morning, I arrive in Turkey, Texas turn west on SR 86 and see an amazing restored 1920′s
gas station. It is a Phillips 66 station with very early style fuel pumps and, I believe the original bus for Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys band. I stop and take several photos. I then pull into the station to gas up, but for some reason, the pumps are not working.
Leaving Turkey, Texas, I continue west on SR 86 and soon arrive at my first destination for today,
Caprock Canyons state park, enter, and then begin to drive through the park. Immediately, what I determine is that these canyon lands are where the Great Plains plateau has, for aeons, given way to the wear and tear of rain cutting through the underlying layers of sandstone as the water flows down and into the Red River and its many tributaries.
After exploring the park, I decide to take a new route to Amarillo, Texas. I return to SR 86, continue west for another twenty mile to SR 207 and turn north. This highway, SR 207 first drops off of the High Plains to cross the Tule Creek branch of the Red River, then along
McKenzie Reservoir after which the highway climbs back up to the High Plains. SR 207 next travels some sixteen mile due north on entirely level land and just after passing the caprock, I descend to a Hamblen Lookout Point where I stop to look at the view and take some photos.
A marker here tells that the SR 207 highway was dedicated in 1930 as Hamblen Drive, paved in 1954, and named after William Hamblen (1878-1952) who ranched nearby and pioneered this road along old Indian trails in order to shorten by some 120 miles, the route to the courthouse in Claude, Texas.
I continue down into the canyon and soon after, I cross the Prairie Dog Fork of the Red River, the same fork that is in Palo Duro Canyon state park further northwest. In fact, even here it is called the Palo Duro canyon. I continue north by northeast climbing back up out of the canyon until I summit the caprock once again, at which time, SR 207 turns due north once again.
The state highway continues north another fifteen miles until it meets with US 287 in Claude, Texas, where I turn west and drive into Amarillo, locate a w-mart and try to catch up on my journal writing, photo cropping and uploading. At nearly nine this evening, I pack out, drive to a d-mart and park for the night.
(Day 553 TG) 35°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I work on my journal and upload the several web pages and the associated photos. Then, late in the morning, I pack out and drive to the state park. I notice that there is a very strong wind blowing out of the north, which make it feel much colder than the current 40 degrees.
I drive into
Palo Duro Canyon state park at about eleven this morning and stop first at the visitors center on the rim above the canyon. This building was built right on the edge of the caprock and overlooks some remarkable canyon features. I walk through the entire museum taking photos of most of the displays, most having to do with the many fossils found within this canyon, including some remains of the . Later, I drive further into the park, drive down into the canyon and further east along Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River until I come to a view point of the
Lighthouse Rock formation.
Then, at four this afternoon, I turn about and drive back over the same road, summiting the caprock, up onto the high plains, to the entrance station where I photograph a couple of
longhorns and finally drive out of the park. I continue west on SR 217 until I arrive at US 87, turn north and soon after, turn west again on US 60. I drive about forty miles and stop in Hereford, Texas so that I can attend the mid week meeting at the kingdom hall in this town.
After the meeting, I drive to the d-mart and find a place to park for the night. The wind has increased and the temperature continues to drop so I get out all three of my blankets. I have to even put my head under the blankets to keep my face warm. Very cold night.
(Day 554 TG) 16°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
It drops down to 16 degrees before seven this morning and that beats my coldest overnight temperature in the jammer, which is 17 degrees. I rise, start the jammer, turn on the heater and wait for it to warm up inside before I rise and dress in my winter blues. Then, I drive out of the parking lot and immediately head south on US 385. Once I get going, the jammer warms up nicely and I take off my hooded sweater. I continue south until I arrive in Seminole, Texas where I turn west on US 180 and continue across the
Great Plains into New Mexico.
Methinks as I drive southwest across the Texas High Plains and into the New Mexico High Plains, who would have known that the land here is as flat as the Coastal Plains where I was reared.
I continue through Hobbs and then cross the
Pecos River at Carlsbad, New Mexico. Here, the Great Plains seems to come to an end when I begin climbing up into the foot hills of the mountain. Upon arriving at
Carlsbad Caverns, I park at the visitors center which has a commanding view eastward down on the Great Plains, and I take photos.
So that means that I am back in the Basin and Range region, only now in
New Mexico region and will be for just a short time. Leaving the caverns, I drive across the state line back into Texas and stop next at
Guadalupe Mountain National Park. This is the first definitive mountain range in this region and I take more photos. Leaving the park, I continue on US 180 (US 60), first to the south and then sweep around to the west and soon see
Cerro Alto Mountain in the Hueco Range, where I stop to take a photo I then continue on to El Paso arriving by six this evening. I take up a parking space in the parking lot near the w-mart and here in the jammer, I update my journal entry for today. Tomorrow, I will do the photos and upload them.
Then, at nine this evening, I turn off my devices and get under the covers. I think about the distance traveled today, which was some 425 miles, yes, a very long day for this wayfarer.
(Day 555 TG) 28°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake this morning and although very cold, today is nothing like it was yesterday morning. I rise, dress in my winter blues and walk inside the w-mart for a cup of hot, com and computer. Then, I spend most all the day working on web pages and photos.
Then, at seven-thirty, having finished updating my website, I then do a post on social media about where I have been and what I have seen over the last few days.
Finally, at nine this evening, I pack out of the w-mart, walk out to the jammer, drive to the d-mart where I park for the night and get under the covers.
(Day 556 TG) 39°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, rise, drive to a ff-mart for coffee and then drive over Franklin Mountains to the west side of El Paso and turn east on IH 10 to drive to a hg-mart where I purchase few items. Then, I leave west on IH 10 out of Texas, across New Mexico and into Arizona. Just past Wilcox, I come into Texas Canyon and pull off of the interstate at the rest stop. This place has always been a favorite stop because of the huge piles of large boulders.
Them, I continue west and after driving through Phoenix, I stop at a restaurant to sit down and have a meal of trout, two vegetables, salad, biscuits and water, one of the few that I still eat at.
Afterwards, I continue west on IH 10 towards the sunset and finally stop at a rest stop on the interstate.
(Day 557 TG) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a Rest Stop
Awake, walk into the restroom to wash my face, then return to the jammer to continue driving west on IH 10 towards California. I stop in Quartzite, Arizona to fill the gas tank and for a cup of coffee and two dollar menu items at the ff-mart.
After having my breakfast, I walk back out to the jammer and drive into California, west on IH 10 until I arrive at exit 94 where I get off of the interstate and drive south on SH 79 to Hemet, California. When I arrive in Hemet, I stop at the w-mart for a glass of water, a brownie, and to pound keys while awaiting Richard to call me.
At nine this evening, I pack out, drive to the d-mart and set up for the overnight. I get in the back under the covers and begin reading in the book of Genesis about how Abraham sends his servant to Haran to find a wife for his son, Isaac. It was Rebecca, who became Isaac′s wife and she was a granddaughter of Nahor who was Abraham′s brother. All of these were the people of the Most High God.
As I am deep in my reading of this story, Richard calls and tells me that he is just now leaving work and driving home. We agree to meet tomorrow morning at the w-mart near his home. I then continue reading and learn of the sons of Keturah, wife of Abraham, who while he was still alive, sent them eastward, away from Isaac his son, to the land of the East.
Finally, I put away my devices, turn of the light and pull the covers over my head. Good reading tonight, even more information for the Lenape′s story.

(Day 558 TG) 45°F. 6:30 am, overcast
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Richard had told me last night that the weekend meeting today is at four-thirty in the afternoon, so I have much time before the meeting. Too, he told me that he wants me to overnight at the rental, so that is where I will be parking the jammer and working for the next six or more weeks.
At four this afternoon, I put on my meeting clothes, drive to the hall for the weekend meeting and reacquaint myself with the friends here. Afterwards, I drive back to the rental and pound keys for a while before I get into the horizontal.
(Day 559 TG) 5039°F. 6:00 am, sunny and partly cloudy
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, walk inside to turn off the outside lights, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com, computer and to await for Richard to call. At eight-thirty this morning, I pack out and drive to the ap-mart for a piece of hose to repair my windshield washer. That was easy. Next, I drive to the bank to retrieve some of this month′s deposit, after which I drive to the hair salon to have my hair cut.
Then I drive to the hw-mart to buy a light bulb but all they have here in California are expensive LED, no incandescent bulbs, so I forgo buying a bulb. I then drive back to the rental and begin sorting through and organizing my pantry.
At about one in the afternoon, Richard arrives with his dog Jenny and says that she heard that I have some fish for her. Ever since I first began coming to southern California to visit Richard and Kim, I have been feeding Jenny different types of fish. She really loves any kind of meat but I think she especially likes fish. Richard tells me that she just reached 13 years of age. I tell him that I am always surprised to see her still alive each time I come to visit.
Together, we rake up branches, dried cactus and leaves to put into the green recycle bin for the pickup this week. Then, he leaves to go with Kim to get his car from the mechanic in Yucaipa and I climb into the jammer and finish the journal entry for today.
(Day 560 TG) 45°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, turn of the night lights, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. At eight-thirty, I pack out and drive back to the rental because Richard is going to be there by nine and we will go to the hg-mart for breakfast. After eating, we return to the rental and begin work on trimming one of the
palm trees in the front of the rental.
I help tie the ladder to the tree and then Richard does all the climbing and cutting while I pack the dropped branches out to the street and stack them.
Then at five in the evening, we put the tools away and stop work. Richard leaves and I go inside to take a hot shower. Then I get dressed and drive to the hall for the midweek meeting.
After the meeting, I drive back to the rental, park and climb into the back for the night.
(Day 561 TG) 44°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Up before the alarm, dress, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and compute.
(Day 562 TG) 45°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I spend most of the morning re-reading Passage One of Episode Three to proof it one more time. Then at noon, I pack out, drive to the rental and work on my
SPMA, and I am able to complete the primary mix of my supplements. I will work on the secondary mix on another day.
When the sun sets, I drive back to the hg-mart and purchase a couple more of the supplement, those which I want to increase the current amount.
(Day 563 TG) 44°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, turn off the lights, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Then at seven, I pack out and drive to the d-mart for a pack of coat hangers, after which, I drive to the rental and officially begin work.
Richard had asked me to remove the green carpet from both the
patio room and
tool room. Also, he asked me to add a layer of plywood in the patio room because the existing floor has several water damaged spots which, when you step on the spots are very soft
(Day 564 TG) 46°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, walk inside for the lights, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Then, at nine this morning, I pack out, drive to the rental and change into my work clothes. I only work a half day today because I am still hurting from the eight hour work day yesterday. I do pull up and roll the carpet from the tool room and then scrap and sand the old glue on the sub floor. Then, I take a hot shower and go out for fish tacos.
After eating, I drive to the w-mart and pound keys for a while. Then, at seven-thirty, I pack out, drive to the rental and get into the sack to read before sleep.
(Day 565 TG) 47°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake before the sunrise as the time has changed (Spring Forward) once again. Upon getting out of the jammer, I see a full rainbow stretched high across the western horizon but quite dim and it fades very fast. I drive to the w-mart for my regular morning coffee, com and computer. after which, I return to the rental to continue work on my supplement powder mix and complete the secondary Supplement Powder Mix
SPMB.
Then, at three-thirty, I stop, take a shower, dress in my meeting clothes and drive to the hall for the weekend meeting. There is an announcement regarding COVID-19 which encouraging hand washing and eliminating social contact.
Afterwards, I drive to the w-mart for some internet time, see the full
Worm Moon and take a few photos but it is
(Day 566 TG) 50°F. 6:00 am, haze
Full Worm Moon
Overnighting at rental property
Awake before the sun rise and instead of going to the w-mart for coffee, I just sit in the jammer and pound keys to catch up on my journal writing. Looking out the front windshield, I see the worm moon about a hand width above the horizon, so out I go to take photos. It is still somewhat cloudy but I persist and soon get some good photos. Then, at two fingers, the moon drops into the cloud cover and I do not see it again.
At ten this morning, after having put away the computer, I go inside and resume my work of restoring the old worn trailer. Then, after nearly ten hours, I stop, drive to the hg-mart to purchase avocado sauce and
cassava chips which turned out way to salty. I drive to the w-mart and check my com and next, fill up the gas tank after which I retire to the parking space at the rental. I have been here working for less than a week and already my legs are throbbing.
It begins to rain while at the w-mart and continues most of the night but by morning, the rain has stopped.
(Day 567 TG) 51°F. 6:00 am, overcast, rain
Overnighting at rental property
Upon arising, I look out the front of the jammer and see that the
rainbow is back. Well, not the same one as yesterday, but another one. This one is also a full rainbow and has the makings of a double. Grabbing my camera, I step outside and begin taking photos. As is with most other rainbows, the field of vision is too big for my camera in normal setting. (I have not yet thought about panorama setting for taking rainbow photos, but with this journal entry, now I have.) In just a few moments, the rainbow is gone.
I return to the jammer and catch up on my journal writing. At eleven this morning, I walk into the rental and resume the restoration work. I do many of the small items that were left to be done when I left for the winter in December, including the caulking of the tub and installing trim strips. Also, I demo the roof in the tool room, getting it ready for the installation of new ceiling panels.
The rain continues most all day and then at five, I pack out to the jammer and update my journal. At six, I stop, get ready for the meeting and then drive to the hall.
Afterwards, I drive to the rental and get horizontal.
(Day 568 TG) 55°F. 7:00 am, sunny with cloud
Overnighting at rental property
Up and moving, drive to the d-mart for receptacle plates and then return to the rental to install them. I begin painting the bathroom doors and then Kim arrive to paint more of the outside. I too, I continue work on miscellaneous items until Richard arrives and together we go to buy ceiling panels, floor vent covers, screws and rust stop paint. We stop and each have three fish tacos at my favorite Mexican here in Hemet. Then, we drive to Richard′s home to install the vents and retrieve the old ones to use in the rental. Finally, we drive back to the rental to continue work.
We start the ceiling install and get one board up and them Kim asks Richard and I what we want to eat. Richard says, Mexican but I say a salad would be nice and say that I have a bell pepper, onion, ginger, oil and vinegar. Richard says that would be really good so Kim goes to the her home to get the lettuce. She also brings some previously cooked salmon. After eating, we go back to work but time just runs out on us and we have to put up the tools.
Richard leaves to drive into the city for work and I take a shower and then catch up on my journal. After, I read the Bible for a time before turning off the lights and technology.
(Day 569 TG) 450°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting at rental property
Rise after turning off my alarm, dress, turn off night lights, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Because of the constant rain today, it is late in the afternoon before I pack out of the w-mart and then I go to the d-mart for leave to drive back to the rental.
(Day 570 TG) 48°F. 6:00 am, overcast
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, walk inside to turn of the night lights, take a hot shower and then drive to the hw-mart for some door locks and a couple other items I need for the restoration. Then, I drive back to the rental, install the locks, and continue working on reinstalling doors in the bathroom and hall.
After a day of work in the rental, I clean up, put away the tools and then take a second shower. Then, I drive to the w-mart for com and computer but do not go inside for the coffee, just sit in the jammer and eat my salad greens and beets. I have noticed that the price for gasoline has dropped somewhat. Later, I return to the rental for the evening.
(Day 571 TG) 48°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Overnighting at rental property
Awaken by my alarm, walk inside to turn of light, take a hot shower and then return to the jammer to put more cream on my left shin where I have had an infection for some time and since it was growing, I asked Richard what he thought it was. He suggested that I try an anti fungal cream which has been reducing the infection. I then drive to the w-mart for com and computer but stay outside in the parking lot and do not go in for coffee.
Then, at ten, I return to the rental and continue work on the inside. Later, Kim comes by to tell me that the meeting tomorrow has been canceled due to the Coronavirus and all meetings will be canceled until 01 May 2020 or until further notice. Also, Richard, when he comes back into town, will help me log on the streaming site where I will be able to view the meetings.
After sunset, I stop working, put away the tools, take a hot shower and then drive to the d-mart looking for toilet paper but do not find any. I return to the rental and park of the night.
(Day 572 TG) 42°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, dress, go inside for a hot shower and then drive to the w-mart, park outside and stay in the jammer for com and computer. Richard calls at noon and tells me that he will get with me later to show me how to get online for streaming the meetings. I continue pounding keys for a time longer and then Richard calls to tell me that I have an email with a link to stream the meeting.
I then go into the rental and work for several hours, until the sun begins to set. I go to the jammer, retrieve my camera and take photos of the
sunglow with the sun lining the clouds in the west. After that, I take a shower, dress and drive to the w-mart to check my email.
I then open the email, click on the link and get to option to watch the midweek or weekend meeting. I choose the weekend meeting since I have already gone to the midweek meeting. Afterwards, I drive back to the rental, park the jammer and get into the horizontal.
(Day 573 TG) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
I start with a hot shower, then go for coffee, which restaurant no longer allows dining in. Then, I sit in the jammer outside the restaurant to check my com and drink the coffee. Then at nine-thirty, I leave to return to the rental and begin work. I send Richard a text that I need input and in about five minutes, he shows up. I tell him what I am doing and ask if I can use the landscape bricks along the property line but he tells me that he wants those bricks left in place.
I continue working on the landscape, stopping at noon for a short meal break and then continue with the setting of bricks and re-planting the flowers, herbs and aloe vera.
Finally, just after dark, I stop, put away the tools, lock up the rental, take a hot shower, turn on the night lights and then leave to head for the local non GMO Mexican grill for a salad. After eating, I return to the rental for the night.
(Day 574 TG) 45°F. 8:00 am, sunny with some clouds
Overnighting at rental property
After a night of light rain, I awake late this morning with the sun shining. I arise, walk in the rental, turn off the lights, and take a hot shower. I then return to the jammer to apply the anti fungal cream to my shin, which since I began applying the cream, the fungal infection had been decreasing and the spot healing. Then, I catch up on my journal writing and when that is done, I go grocery shopping.
Then, I return to the rental a work a long day on the rental, finishing the
flower garden on the west side of the trailer.
At five this evening, Richard arrives to work on the roof to seal the places where there has been leaks. I go up with him and immediately see where he had put screws into the new metal but did not seal the screws with waterproof caulk. I tell him that the leaks are at these screws, that any time you put a hole in the roof, it will leak and it must be waterproofed with silicone caulk. He then seals the screws. Later, we both go into the rental and put away the tools. He tells me that he and Kim will be back at seven-thirty this evening for us to watch the meeting broadcast on his tablet. He leaves and I go for a shower and turn on the heater to raise the temperature to sixty-seven degrees.
They arrive and we go into the kitchen to watch the meeting, where Kim, for the first time I have ever seen, gets animated during one of the songs. After, Richard and Kim leave to return home and I walk out to the jammer for the night.
(Day 575 TG) 43°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, go inside to turn of the lights, take a shower and return to the jammer when Richard calls to ask me to come help him with the roof on his home. When I arrive, he invites me in for breakfast and we have eggs, ham, pancakes and coffee, all organic. After, we go to the d-mart to buy toilet paper and water which requires a long wait in the line to check out. Then we drive to the hg-mart for antiviral oils so we can create a hand sanitizer for our personal use. Then I return to the rental and create the first batch of hand sanitizer, but it seem to have something that leaves a sticky film, so I will redo the recipe.
I go into to the rental to paint another coat on the hall doors, after which I put away the tools, clean up the rental, and then take a shower. Next, I drive to Richard and Kim′s home to show them my hand sanitizer. Kim then asks me to join them for a meal. She has a vegetable and turkey soup with home made bread, all organic. It is a very tasty meals and I thank her for inviting me. I let them test the hand sanitizer and both say it smells nice.
I then leave their home, return to the rental, plug in and climb into the jammer to get comfortable. I update my journal and then read for a time
(Day 576 TG) 41°F. 6:00 am, rain
Spring Equinox
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, drive to the w-mart for com and computer where I update my website again, after which I drive to the l-mart to wash my clothes and I wear a mask and gloves when in the l-mart. Next, I drive to the bank to inform them about the deposit of the fund from the company which did not respond to me. Finally, I go back to the rental, put on my work clothes and keep working in the tool room until seven this evening.
After taking a hot shower, I go to the d-mart for some groceries but find that it closes at eight-thirty pm now and I am not allowed into the store. Wow, and this store used to be a twenty-four hour store. It is amazing what this pestilence is doing to this world. I return to the jammer and read in my Bible for a time and then get horizontal.
(Day 577 TG) 47°F. 8:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, work, coffee, daystart, more work, a very long day of it and then I get on the hot water for my second time today. I have completed much in the way of getting this rental finished but there are still several jobs that need to be done.
I leave earlier for the d-mart and get in tonight but there are very little on the food shelves, all of the food shelves. They stock their selves at night and sell out again completely the next day. It is the same with the toilet paper and other paper goods, they sell completely out before noon each day.
Methinks, the only one benefiting from this pestilence are the grocery store businesses because their coffers must be packed to the gills. I wonder what it will be like after this pandemic?
I return to the jammer, pound keys, and only stop to take photos of the sun as it drops to the horizon. Finally, I get back into the jammer to read before getting flat.
(Day 578 TG) 50°F. 8:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, hot shower, work until two this afternoon before I stop for my daystart. I boil a liter of water in my tea pot and use the hot water in the daystart, a cup of coffee, a large cup of tea and what are the quickly being used supply to make a bottle of Spark. (I am quickly running out of the Spark product and will no longer replenish my supply.)
I return to continue painting the interior cabinets in the kitchen and spraying the cabinet doors with A lacquer top coat. While working today, I think much about where I will go when this job is complete. Richard had told me that he wants me to do more work on his home, but recently, he has also told me that he is running out of money and is not sure about the longevity of his work.
While working, I keep thinking about the possibility that I will go into the national forest, somewhere on the mountain and find a lonesome place to set up camp for a period of time. The only draw back to that, which I have found in the past, is that I can not readily get to the meetings when on the mountain. Too, my ministry will wane if I stay on the mountain for any length of time.
I keep at it until well after dark, when I put up the tools, clean up the work area, take a hot shower and get into the jammer for the night.
(Day 579 TG) 52°F. 7:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Arising right away, I go in for my morning soak in the hot water. Then, I drive to the d-mart in search of an extension cord, a three prong that does not cost too much but that creature just does not exist here in the desert. Being here so early, I am able to find several of my food items, which I purchase to stock up my pantry. Them, I return to the rental and continue work without it and actually get quite a lot of things done on this residence.
At three, Richard calls and asks me to come to help him set up the meeting connection with KH Conferencing at his house but we are unable to set the devise up before the actual meeting begins. So, we listen in on the meeting connection by way of another app and receive both the public talk and the Watchtower study.
After the meeting, there was an announcement, apparently from the faithful and discrete slave that I never thought I would ever hear while still on this side of the Great Tribulation this system. The brother who was the Watchtower conductor and chairman said, as best as I can remember it, "There will no witnessing as of this time, not door to door, cart, or other forms of the public ministry. If you can participate in the letter writing or telephone witnessing, the please make yourself available." When the meeting was over, the chairman said that there were 65 tied in by way of the KH Conferencing, and that was not counting the eleven elders and their families that were on the conference app.
Earlier, Kim had told me that no one sixty or older were allowed at the meetings for the field ministry to participate in the letter writing and telephone witnesses. So, does that eliminate all witnessing for us old farts? I know, there is still incidental witnessing but even in doing that, we still have to keep, what′s that new expression, Social Distancing. Methinks, my ministry report will wane quite a bit for some time.
Afterwards, I leave and drive back to the rental to set up in the jammer to catch up on the journal writing. In a half an hour, Richard shows up to see the progress and tells me that he would like me to finish the rental restoration this week. He then leaves and I go back into the jammer to pound more keys.
Finally, after I am too tired to continue, I go flat and read for a time before I close my eyes for the night.
(Day 580 TG) 43°F. 6:00 am, rain
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, hot shower, sweep and mop the bath room, bed room and hall. Then, because I feel the need for a cup of hot, I lock up and drive to the w-mart. I have to use the drive thru and use my last reward points to get a free large cup of coffee. Then, I sit in the parking lot to check com and then pound keys. One thing that I see in the news is that the National Guard is being deployed in several states and that mandatory stay at home orders are being issued. Methinks, that soon, I will have to hunker down in one place for at least two weeks, which is alright with me because I have enough dried food, toilet paper and water. The only thing I would need to replenish is my fresh food which I would need to do once every three days.
Who knows what all this pestilence is coming to?
I return to the rental, set up in the back of the jammer and work on updating my journal entry until six when I close up the rental, disconnect the jammer from the power cord and then head out to the d-mart, but then feel something with on to the tires. I get out and find the back right tire, a brand new one less than a month old, still has the little rubber tire whiskers. I take it off and find a screw in the tread so, I put on the donut spare and drive to the d-mart but find the tire department closed until further notice. I go inside and ask about the tire department and the store manager tells me that the state governor has ordered all non-essential businesses to close down.
Methinks, being able to drive my car is essential and having tires, or tire repair is necessary. I buy a can of emergency tire repair and will use the damaged tire as a spare until I can get to a d-mart that has an open tire department. Wow, is this pandemic an inconvenience. I drive from the d-mart to the w-mart to get online to update my website. I also have a text conversation with Gordon in Colorado about getting out of the city and going up into the mountain. He tells me that it is still to cold to even think about it where he is, but I tell him that in only a few weeks, I will be driving out or California and head for the Rocky Mountains, starting first in the southern Rockies.
Finally, I leave the w-mart, drive to the rental and park for the night.
(Day 581 TG) 44°F. 6:00 am, sunny and cloudy
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, go inside to get under the hot water, then spend a couple of hours re-installing the kitchen cabinets and other small tasks to try to get the kitchen done. I think now, all that is left is to install the stove with the new gas line. When it warms up outside, I go to the jammer and try to use the Tire Repair Spray but it completely fails, in fact, I screw the can onto the valve stem and it goes in that hole, then connect the air pump and I then watch repair liquid come out the screw hole. Soon, there is a large pool of this white liquid on the carport floor. Totally useless! Well, at least in California. I had used a can from the same manufacturer when I was in Washington, which was called Tire Repair Foam and which worked, plugged the hole and I was able to drive on the tire immediately.
I cleaned the concrete, put away my tools, drove back to the d-mart, took the can to the service counter and said, This product is defective, I want my money back, and she gave me my money back. Next, I walked back to the auto department and asked the clerk about the tire repair plugs and he said, They really work well, but the can of tire repair is garbage. I purchased the tire plug and methinks, this is the same item that I had about two decades ago when I did my own tire repair, and it was when I began purchasing tires with the road hazard warranty that caused me to get rid of the repair tools. Appears that this pandemic has shown me something that goes into the need bin, well as long as I continue to drive the jammer.
I drive to the w-mart for a cup of coffee, check my com and update my website. Finally, I drive back to the rental to do the tire repair, which works and now I am fully back on the road, well when I finish the restoration work. I also wash the tires and spay tire black on them. I put away my tools, go into the rental and get the tools for me to seal the roof and the sealant is already up there.
I climb the ladder, open the five gallon bucket, stir the sealant and begin to roll it onto the area where Richard has been trying to stop the leaks. I then roll out a fiber mesh over the seam and begin brushing copious amounts of the sealant on top of the same mesh and seam. I spend several hours on top of the rental and when I get to a point where the sealant needs to dry, I pack the tools down the ladder and then go into the bathroom to wash all of the sealant off of my hands and fore arms.
Once I am clean again, I hear Richard calling my name, go out to meet him and He says that he is here to work for a couple hours. After I tell him that I have sealed the roof above the deck rooms, I take him into what we have been calling the tool room, but is in fact the back deck room, so he may help me finish installing the lid. Once we have one panel in place and I am screwing it off, Richard grabs a paint brush and continues painting the walls in this room. We then install the second panel and I screw it off as well, after which I finish the crown trim and a center board for supporting the four ceiling panels.
Richard then leaves and drives to his home to get ready for the meeting tonight, as he is the chairman of the midweek meeting. I arrive about ten minutes before it begins and soon, we sing a song and prayer, starting the meeting.
This is the second whole congregation meeting since the state lock down, the weekend meeting last Sunday was the first, where all the congregation meets on the internet using a conferencing app. This meeting is also by invitation and requires knowing the current code to get onto the meeting program. Doing our meeting this way allows the entire congregation, some one hundred and more to come together and still not break the government lock down order which bans meeting of more than ten people in one venue. Exciting times that we are living in, those time which are occurring right before the Great Tribulation.
(Matthew 24:21;
Revelation 7:14)
Afterwards, Richard and I discuss what tasks he wants me to complete in the upcoming week and we make a list. He also gives me the password to the WiFi he had installed at his home which is so much better than going to the w-mart and sit in the parking lot there. I drive back to the rental to pound keys and update my online journal and then get into the flat zone.
(Day 582 TG) 37°F. 7:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, walk inside for my morning hot shower and then put on my work clothes to start work. An hour later, about nine, Richard shows up and says he has to make a shopping run but will be back soon. By his arrival, I had already installed the treated wood around the front step and begun working on the installing the rear bottom trim. He then returns and we finish the lid in the back deck room, and then we both continue working the rest of the day until about seven this evening.
Richard pays me for last week and asks me how much he owes me for this week and I tell him. He also tells me that I can stay in the rental for as long as I wish to which I reply, I will stay until you get back next Sunday and if you wish for me to help you with the vinyl flooring in the rear deck room, I will be happy to help. He replies, Ok and then he leaves for the evening.
I go in to take a shower and then drive to the w-mart for com and to pound keys on the computer. After I upload my journal entry, I drive back to the rental to park for the night.
(Day 583 TG) 37°F. 8:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, walk inside for a hot shower, the back out to the jammer to sit at the computer and pound keys for a short time. Then, shortly after nine, I drive to the bank to withdraw my monthly social security deposit. And now, with my bags packed, with my pantry full and with coins in my pocket, I am all set to journey on, however, I do not feel like taking to the road just yet. Methinks, maybe it is because here, I have a hot shower every morning to warm me up and a hot shower every evening to clean me from the work done that day. Or, methinks, there is still snow in the places where I would like to spend some time. I did tell Richard that I would wait for him to return from work one more time so that I could help him install the last sheet of vinyl flooring.
So, I mark time here in the desert but this period will not last much longer that the seventh day of the next month, 07 April 2020. That will allow me to get online for several more live meetings here with the Central Hemet Congregation, including the memorial on the seventh. After that, I will most likely have to stream or download the meeting to watch them. Oh, it is now time to drive to the bank.
After obtaining my withdrawal, I drive to the w-mart for com and key pounding on the computer, after which, I upload my journal entry and other pages to the website. Finally, I go back to the rental to take an nap. Then, at six, upon awaking, I drive to the g-mart really wishing to find some sprouted whole rice but no one has any, so I buy a couple more items and drive back to the w-mart for a brownie and a cup of hot water to make some tea.
I then upload my current journal entry before returning to the rental for the night.
(Day 584 TG) 39°F. 7:00 am, sunny, partly cloudy

Awake, hot shower, drive to the grocer to look for sprouted rice but still have not found any available. I then go to the w-mart to get online and check com, and upload today′s journal entry. After that, I return to the rental with the intent to work on my book.
Then at two, I go inside and do some of the miscellaneous items that still need to be done and continue until it gets dark. After I stop work, I shower and then drive to the w-mart to check com and pound keys to update my website. I find a very interesting article about the coronavirus, rewrite it so it makes better sense and then add it to my
COVID-19 page on my website.
(Day 585 TG) 40°F. 8:00 am, sunny and clear

After sleeping in another day, I rise, walk inside and get into the hot water. Then, I go back to the jammer, climb in and pound keys until it warms up outside. When the temperature has become nice, I open the tailgate to begin spring cleaning my home and toss a lot of items that I really do not need. I also sort through my food stores and update the food with the newest date into my to go bag. Next, I use Richard′s shop vac to clean the carpet and finally, when the jammer is clean and shinny, I prepare a cup of hot and my morning daystart, or rather, today, it is an afternoon daystart.
When my meal finished, I clean and put away the cook pot and other utensils. Then, I get out my jammer repair manual and read the section once again on bleeding the power steering system to make sure I can do this before I even start. Yes, I tell myself, it seems to easy but why, I ask myself am I hesitating to get started. Well, let′s get′er done!
Wow, it was too easy but I already knew that. Replacing the high pressure power steering hose is something that I have never done before and I have a fault of fearing the unknown. Now that another procedure is under my belt, that is one less repair to be fearful of. I clean up the carport, put away my tools, and go in for a hot shower. After that, I drive to the w-mart to check com and upload files to the website. Then, I drive back to the rental for the night, oh, yeah, by way of a hamburger stop.
Once I arrive at the rental, I finish today′s journal entry and then get into the horizontal to read for a while. At eleven thirty tonight, Richard pulls in to set up his camp in the main bedroom. He is doing this because his work is in a hospital that is in the hot zone for the coronavirus.
(Day 586 TG) 41°F. 8:00 am, sunny and clear

Awake, dress and turn on the computer to pound keys for a time. Soon, Richard comes out of the rental and leaves for a haircut appointment. I continue to pound keys and update my page showing the work on the Palm Avenue Rental. Later Richard calls to tell me that he has a meeting with the elders and will be gone all morning. I continue to pound keys and work on Episode Three.
In the afternoon, I do my study for the meeting tonight and then at four pm, dress for the meeting. However, I am still not sure where I will be going for the meeting so I send a text message and he responds, At our house. So, I begin getting dressed and soon head for Richard and Kim′s home for the weekend meeting.
We use the app to get log onto the live congregation meeting and I even have two opportunities to answer in the Watchtower study. After the meeting, there is a hello, hello session and then, one at a time, the friends log off until there is none.
I leave their home, drive back to the rental, plug in and get comfortable for the evening. Nine more days until the memorial of the death of Jesus Christ.
(Day 587 TG) 46°F. 7:30 am, sunny and clear

Awake but do not rise right away but when I do, I turn on the computer and begin pounding keys until Richard awake sometime later. He needs to drive some place, so I go in and take a shower, after which I continue pounding keys, completing more of Episode and have come to really enjoy composing this one as it slowly begins to come together.
Then, at about two in the afternoon, Richard shows up to work and we begin installing the vinyl floor in the rear deck room and by seven, Richard wants to buy my supper but I tell him that I have salad to eat and offer to share it. He then says, I should go home and spend some time with Kim to which I agree. He leaves and I go inside for a hot shower, after which I climb into the jammer, get out the fixings for my salad and eat while pounding keys. Then, I finish my meal with a can of salmon.
It is just after nine this evening and I get horizontal to read one of the publications.
(Day 588 TG) 50°F. 7:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, shower, return to the jammer and spend the day pounding keys. Richard stops by in the late afternoon and we install the trim in the rear deck room, which completes that room. He brings a large paint drop cloth to put on the floor so that we can move all the tools back into that room from the front deck room. Then, that will clear up the front deck room to complete it.
At six-thirty this evening, I drive to the Johnston avenue home, connect to the meeting and enjoy seeing the central Hemet friends once again. Afterwards, I return to the rental, park and get horizontal for the night.
(Day 589 TG) 50°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, shower, return to the jammer and work the entire day on updating my legal documents, such as my will, trust, by separate writing and other documents. Richard has told me that when I am here, he would be the optimum choice for executor. So, I have included him in the list of names.
Then, at sunset, Richard shows up at the rental to gather his gear because he is leaving to go to work for the weekend. I take a shower and then get into the jammer for the night.
(Day 590 TG) 46°F. 7:30 am, sunny with clouds
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, shower, drive to the d-mart for some items, then to the bank to withdraw the VA deposit, next to the dollar store for a bottle of bleach, and finally to the w-mart for com, and computer until noon. Afterwards, I return to the rental for more key pounding.
In the afternoon, I go into the rental and begin moving the tools from the front deck room to the rear deck room. It takes me all afternoon and I become sweaty and dirty. When I finish, I go in for a shower but the water it turned off, Richard had forgot to renew the temporary service. I text him but when he gets back to me, it will not be until Monday until I will have water again.
I leave to drive to the d-mart, buy four gallons of water, return and take a bucket bath standing in the tub. I also try to salvage as must of the waste water for use to flush the toilet. Finally, I return to the jammer, write today′s journal entry and then get horizontal for the night.
Before I go to sleep, I read for a time.
(Day 591 TG) 44°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, drive to the bank to check on my new debit card, the to the d-mart for sardines and hiking shorts, and after, go the men′s room because there is water here. Next, I drive to the w-mart to get on line to check com and pound the keys to catch up online.
Finally, I return to the rental and continue working on pounding keys for a short time more, after which, I work on the landscaping of the rental until the sun sets. Richard calls and asks me to see what I can do to with the phone to get it working, which phone I gave to Kim for use as a temporary phone while her phone is sent to be repaired. I go to their home and pick up the phone from Kim and tell her that I will try to get it working as soon as possible.
Methinks, that I am a short timer here in Hemet, as I will be leaving this town, southern California and in fact the state in just a few more days. I will drive first to the continental divide area in southwestern New Mexico, where I will try to disappear somewhere on the mountain for a month or so. The area where I wish to go is just a short distance north of Silver City, New Mexico, however, the exact location I have yet to determine.
On thing that I have liked seeing while here in southern California is the drop of the price of gasoline to $2.50 and lower. It has not been that low since, I believe about 2014. I do remember leaving California after my discharge from the Marines in March 1972 and the gas being about 85 cents a gallon but on returning to Texas less than a month later, the gas price there was 27 cents a gallon. Gasoline has always been way higher in California but now, it seems bearable for me at this price. I can not even imagine how low it is in Texas and hope it stays low.
At eleven this evening, I put the computer away and get into the horizontal for the night.
(Day 592 TG) 48°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Overnighting at rental property
Another very nice day to awake to, with near perfect temperatures and plenty of time to spend working on my book. However, instead of sitting inside the jammer, I choose to go outside and work on the landscaping here at the rental on South Palm avenue, go to the back yard and begin working on the flower garden directly behind the carport shed.
Some time in the afternoon, Richard shows up and looks at what I have done. He also offers to bring me some hot water for taking a shower, so I give him three one gallon bottles to fill up. I tell him not to bring the water until sunset because I will be working until then. He then leaves to go home to be with his wife and dog Janie.
I reset a lot of the existing concrete pieces so as to get an edge that is straight. Then, I dig up the existing scalloped bricks, draw back the gravel and rework the entire edge of the flower garden. Then I begin to reset the scalloped bricks around three sides, setting the bricks level in the dirt. I back fill with dirt on the flower bed side and old gravel on the gravel side, add new plastic were needed and then rake the gravel up to the bricks. Finally, I spread all the dirt around in the flower garden. What is next is to remove all the old cactus and put it into the recycle bin to be hauled away.
I finish shortly before sunset and put away all the tools, clean up the area and then wait for Richard to bring the water. When I see his car arrive and park on the street in front of the house, I walk outside to greet him. I see that Kim has come with him so I invite her to come see the
cactus garden that I have done. They are both impressed, Richard even says that the flower garden that I just completed is beautiful. He goes on to say that the new owner could even use this as a nice spot to sit in the sun on cold days. Kim like all the work as well. Them, they leave to go for a walk and I go inside with three gallons to take a shower.
Wow, it is so nice to have hot water on my body again, well, really just warm water, but that is so much better than the cold water that I have been using the last couple of days. Afterwards, I drive to the w-mart to check com and buy a sandwich from the sub shop. Then, I drive back to the rental, park and pound keys for a while before I get horizontal. However, before I sleep, I watch a monthly broadcast from JW.org.
(Day 593 TG) 49°F. 7:20 am, cloudy
Overnighting at rental property
Awake just before the alarm and turn on the computer to pound keys for a time. Then, I drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer, after which, I return to the rental and do a spring cleaning on the jammer. I reorganize my things, move them to more orderly places all which makes more room for the human who live here.
Earlier, I had purchased packages of new coat hangers, both wooden and wire. The wooden ones were just added for the suits, dress trousers and coats, but I used the wire ones to replace all the old wire hangers. So part of my reorganization was to use some of the old wire hangers to cut, bend and design additional hanging devises to use along the side of the jammer to hang other items from the hard plastic side panel. Not only has this made for less to stack up on the storage bins, but now, these items are easier to access. Two of the hangers, I use to hold the window light-blocker up with.
Then, in the afternoon, I go to Johnston Avenue to connect to the meeting and watch the special talk. I see Kim and wave to her and she does the same to me. Richard had to drive into work so I connect on my computer outside in the jammer. Afterwards, I return the rental and continue with the work on Episode Three.
Finally, after sunset, I turn off the computer and get into the horizontal to read.
(Day 594 TG) 46°F. 7:30 am, rain

Awake, drive to the w-mart to check com and upload files. Then, I drive through for a cup of coffee and a cup of hot water, after which I drive back to the rental and have my daystart with the coffee. When I am done with my meal, I go inside to sweep and mop the floors.
Then, I return to the jammer and pound keys until the day is done.
(Day 595 TG) 50°F. 7:30 am, rain, fog
Full Pink Moon
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, drive to the w-mart to check com and upload files. Then, I drive through to get my two hot drinks and when I arrive at the menu the barista already has my order on the screen. I purchase my order and head to the rental to await for Richard.
After having my breakfast, I go inside and begin work on some of the trim that still needs to be cut and installed. Not long after, Richard arrives and I give Janie a can of sardines. Then, Richard and I begin working on the front deck room, first sealing the roof, then installing the ceiling panels. All along, the rain continues to come down but there is no leaks except one slight leak near the wall where the outside door is located. We continue to work until we get to a point where we need materials, so we drive to the Mexican restaurant first for street tacos and rice.
After we eat, we then go to the hw-mart for our supplies, after which we return to the rental and begin installing the ceiling boards. We continue working until six when we stop, put the tools away and then Richard leaves while I take a shower, dress for the memorial and then drive to Richard and Kim′s home to watch the memorial online. We do pass the emblems between ourselves.
After the memorial, I leave to return to the rental and park for the night. Richard comes by later and spreads the primer on the floor in the front deck room but I do not get up from my rest.
(Day 596 TG) 42°F. 7:30 am, rain
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, shower, drive to the w-mart for com, computer and my two cup order of coffee and hot water. Then I head back to the rental for my breakfast and wait for Richard to arrive to finish the deck room. I barely finish breakfast before he arrives and we go right to work in the front deck room getting every thing ready for installing the lid but we realize that there are some things that we need to purchase to complete so by eleven this morning, we pack up the tools, drive to the hw-mart to purchase casing boards, some green carpet for the floor, glue, two lamps and some bulbs. When we return back to the rental, Richard goes up on the roof to calk and seam while I install the lamps, one in the bedroom and another at the front door.
Next, we both return to the front deck room, install the lid and the cove molding after which it is getting close to sunset and Richard says that he will do the carpet install next week after I am gone. Or, I tell him, I will be back in September and we can do it then. I have been joking with him all week telling him that he most likely will not get anything done when I am gone. He really want to do more of the work by himself but he has so much other stuff to do beside work full time.
I ask him if he printed my documents and he said, we can go get them now. So, we put away the tools again, drive to his home and when we go inside to print the documents, Kim offers to make us something to eat. So, both Richard and I sit down at the bar and have another great meal with real home made bread. After eating, I gather my documents, drive back to the rental and go inside for a hot shower. Then, I retire to the jammer, turn on the computer and pound keys unto ten this evening, catching up on my journal writing.
Finally, I get horizontal and try to watch a video from the JW-streaming but I am just too tired so I shut down the electronics and close my eyes.
(Day 597 TG) 45°F. 6:00 am, rainy, cold
Overnighting at rental property
I arise, walk inside with my shower bag and get into the hot water. After my shower, I drive to the w-mart for com, computer and hold off on the coffee until I am ready to leave, when I drive to the d-mart for a few items of need.
Yes, I am still in Hemet, not quite ready to leave just yet and I return to the rental and work on my computer. In the afternoon, I go inside the rental, sweep the floor one more time and there is still a lot of dirt that has go in. I then go into the deck rooms and install a switch-plug set up on both of the fluorescent lights.
I had previously mounted them on the mobile home wall with an electrical cord dropping to the receptacle but I found it somewhat hard to turn on these two lights by plugging them in, especially in the dark. So, I created a switch by adding a male-female plug combination right inside the door to each room. Then, when someone goes into the room, all they have to do is connect the duplexs together. Doing it this way is so much easier than running wires inside the walls to a switch box, less costly and so much easier. Still, it gets the job done.
I send Richard a text and a photo of what I did and he replies back, I thought you left this morning? to which I replied, I stayed to finish up the electrical that I said that I would do. Besides, i really want to take one more hot shower, maybe two.
Methinks, I still have the quarter-round trim in the kitchen to finish, and there is still the reinstall of the stove-oven. Too, the bathroom cabinets need to be sanded and then sprayed with clear lacquer. I prepare a salad for my dinner and eat while playing some solitaire.
(Day 598 TG) 43°F. 7:00 am, rainy, cold
Overnighting at rental property
Awake, go inside for my hot shower, I do so love taking these hot showers, even twice a day. Methinks, I will put up with staying in the city, even with the crime, the sirens, the pandemic, and the crazies for a short time longer for a few last times in the hot water.
I drive to the hw-mart and buy some quarter-round trim, return to the rental, finish installing the trim in the kitchen under the cabinets and on top of one. Then I re-install the oven-stove, which is not as hard as I was thinking it would be. Once I connected the gas line and then electrical, I pushed it back into the over birth and turned on the oven light to make sure it works.
I then sweet the floor again and I am amazed how each time I sweep the rental floors, there is another pile of dust, dirt, and stuff. I had told Richard that when the deck carpet is installed, that should stop all the tracking in of the dirt and dust.
After cleaning up the rental, I take final photos of all the rooms and then go out to the jammer to work on putting the photos in the Palm Avenue page
(Day 599 TG) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny and clear
Overnighting at rental property
Finally, the pineapple express blew threw and left the entire southern California washed clean. Wow, even the downtown area of LA has clear and clean blue skies. Methinks, that there has been one good result from the pandemic, which is people have been staying home, not driving their millions and millions of cars and trucks all over the highways polluting the air.
I rise, go inside for another hot shower and then back out to the jammer to make a cup of hot, actually, three cups: coffee; tea; and a vitamin drink. Then, I put away my camp stove, climb into the jammer and turn on the computer for some key pounding.
Richard then texts me to tell me that he will be home for dinner and wants to cook a pizza in the rental
oven. I text him, How about salmon instead? He replies, Or, we could go to Mexican and get fish tacos. I reply, Now I all hyped up about pizza. I laugh at the text conversation, or should it be called a textversation. Wow, another new word, like social distancing that was created during this pandemic.
At ten this morning, I go into the rental to begin some of the final restorations. I see the GFIC receptacle that would not fit in he box on the outside wall, that is still in the bag waiting to be returned. Methinks, I could check the hall in the rental to see if the double box there is the same circuit as the outside receptacle and if so I might be able to install it there. I pull the cover plate off, retrieve my circuit tester and then find that the black load wire does go to the outside receptacle. Now, I just need to go back to the hw-mart and find the correct plate and/or box to make this work.
Returning with a new double plate and a couple of duplex receptacles, I go to work but I find out that the DIY who did these four receptacle additions absolutely did not know what they were really doing.
Methinks, it has been amazing that this trailer has not burn down because of this faulty wiring. I have to go back to the hw-mart to buy some more of the correct size wires, more duplex receptacles and then continue replacing these
faulty wiring additions with the correct applications.
Richard arrives, we turn on the over for the first time and it works just great, even bakes a nice pizza. We both sit outside on the front steps to eat and enjoy the wonderful temperate weather. Afterwards, we go inside to correct some of the wiring but we both do not last long before we are done for the day. He goes home, and I get into the hot shower.
After that, I walk out to the jammer, climb in and pound keys to get caught up on my journal writing. It is almost ten this evening when I get into the horizontal.
(Day 600 TG) 48°F. 7:30 am, overcast
Overnighting at rental property
I could not sleep last night, so I watched a video lasting until midnight. Even then, it was hard to attain sleep. This morning, I arise, grab my shower bag and go inside for a hot shower. Afterwards, I bring in my tea pot put spring water in it an set it on the stove to heat. Then, I go back to bring in a cup for coffee and my Yeti for tea. Soon after, I am sitting at my computer pounding keys on this the last full day here in Hemet, California.
In a little while, I will go to the circuit assembly being hosted at the home of Richard and Kim. I do so like this couple, they have been very good friends for so many years and now, I am soon to depart their presences to travel away from the black zone of the current pestilence and search for a green zone in the mountains of Arizona or New Mexico. I will miss them dearly and look forward to when our paths cross again.
Well, it is time to dress for the meeting and drive there. I arrive a few minutes before it starts and spend most all the morning watching the circuit assembly morning session and then leave during the lunch break to finish working on the electrical. I am able to get all of the duplex receptacles installed but then, the GFIC breaker trips and turns off the circuit. I have been fighting this breaker for three days, so I tell Richard that I am going to remove the GFIC and just leave all of the new duplex receptacles that I had installed. He agreed and it only took about two minutes to take it out and put it back to the way it was before. Amazingly, everthing now works.
Richard then tells me that he is so glad that I was able to remove all the under sized wires and put in the correct size. Also, he is glad that every thing is grounded now. Next, we get to work on the indoor-outdoor carpet that Richard had purchased. We cut it to size and then glue it into the Front Deck Room. When we finish, we both agree that it looks really nice, the entire mobile looks really nice. Richard leaves to go home and I take a hot shower. After, I drive to the w-mart to get online, check my com, and upload web files.
Then, back to the rental and get into the sack.
