State Roadpath Map:
In the fall of 2025, I drove the NTR through North Dakota, and due to the winter season fast approaching, I decided to take the US 2 highway because it would be faster for me to cross the state of North Dakota when comparing it to the more northern state highway, SH 5. When I travel cross country, I always carry a road atlas and as I traverse each area, I highlight the roadpath I have driven with a yellow highlight pen.
Methinks, the more northern SH 2 would take longer to drive, likely due to the higher number of miles, as well as the increased number of stop signs, slow downs for towns, and generally high number of roadpath turns. However, for these same reasons, SH 5 would make for a better bicycle roadpath.
Below is a photograph of the North Dakota page in my Road Atlas. In the future, I hope to come back to this web page map and in order to redraw the map for a better presentation and also include the 2025 story and more of the photos that I have taken.
