The Journey Crossing the Deserts Go Down Go Up
(Day 801 TB) 49°F. 7:00 am, sun
Davis Mountains State Park, CRS: 8.0
Awake, dress in my winter blues, drive to the birding blind and spend the next six hours taking photos of a lot of birds. I was able to get photos of at least two birds I have never seen before. I meet Jerry when he comes to refill the feeders and we talk while he loads them up. Afterwards, a large number of additional bird come to feed. I keep taking photos all morning, waiting for different birds to show up and this really works, some birds must get up later to come to eat.
While I am here, I see acorn woodpeckers, black-crested titmouse, pine siskin, black-throated sparrow, mockingbird, western scrub jay, and others
Then, at one this afternoon, I leave the park and head back through Fort Davis, then south on SH 17 to Marfa, where I buy gasoline and then head west on US 90 through the heart of the Chihuahuan desert through two small communities and then north to Van Horn where I stop and buy gasoline again. Then, I cross under IH 10 and connect to SH 54 and drive north towards Guadalupe Mountains, connect to US 62, turn east to the national park. Along the way, I take photos of the Guadalupe Mountain range.
When I arrive in the park, I go inside to purchase a bumper sticker for my rear window, then drive to Pine Springs Campsite which is just a parking lot where overnighters park for eight dollars, or four if you have a senior pass.
I have something to eat, then turn on the computer to write today′s journal entry. At seven, this evening, I shut it all down, get horizontal and read a couple of chapters.
Sunday, 04 February 2018, Guadalupe National Park, TX.
(Day 802 TB) 50°F. 7:00 am, sun
Pine Springs Campground, CRS: 4.0
Up at the crack of dawn, dress, walk to the mens room and then return to begin my drive into El Paso. Upon leaving the national park, I drive south on US 62 only to soon after stop for photos of Guadalupe Mountains in the sunglow.
Then US 62 makes a turn to the west towards El Paso, crosses the large salt flats of the Chihuahuan desert and here, at a information kiosk, I stop and learn more about the Guadalupe Mountains.
I continue for almost two hours and arrive at the d-mart to change into my suit. Then, I drive to the hall arriving at nine this morning, just perfect for the nine-thirty English meeting.
After the meeting, I drive to the w-mart, go inside with my computer and begin pounding keys. Today, besides updating my journal, work on sorting the over six hundred photos during the photo shoot at Davis Mountain park. By the time I am done for the day, I have already gone through four hundred of the photos, have fifty of the bird photos cropped which are upload-worthy, and I have two new species to add to the count of species in my personal sighting list.
At eight-thirty, I pack out and head for the d-mart for the night where I go inside to purchase some vegetables to eat before retiring.
(Day 812 TB) 40°F. 6:00 am, sun
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to a cloudless sky with a bright sunglow on the horizon which sunglow continues to grow for more than an hour when the sun rises. I drive to the w-mart for coffee and to resume my photo cropping and sorting which I complete the photos from Davis Mountains state park by ten this morning.
Next, I upload all these photos to the web server so that when I create the gallery pages, the photos will begin working immediately. Then, I begin creating gallery pages and as I finish them, upload then to the server and check to make sure each works. It is a somewhat faster process that I have done in the past but I like that I can do so much now in a relatively short time.
At eight this evening, I pack out to the jammer and then drive to the d-mart to have supper and finish my day.
(Day 813 TB) 45°F. 5:50 am, clear
Overnighting in a parking lot
The sunglow has already begun with I arise, however slight and continues to grow as I go about my morning routine. Soon, I am pound keys and sipping coffee, having already checked my com. The task today is to finish uploading photos and creating gallery pages for the rest birds photographed this year.
In the early afternoon, two sisters come in, purchase a beverage and then sit down in the table next to me. I greet them by saying Hello sisters. They look up and smile and we talk for a time. When they leave, I resume the key pounding.
After completing all the bird work, I work some of the campsites, completing several of those. Then, at seven-thirty, I pack out, drive to a Mexican restaurant and after eating, head to the barn, or I mean, d-mart to spend another night in the parking lot. It seems warm this evening; I heard someone comment yesterday, it looks like winter is over.
(Day 814 TB) 40°F. 6:00 am, clear and dry
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress and drive to the w-mart, take my computer and cup in for coffee and key pounding. Today, I continue working on the campsites in my CRS index, finish a half dozen and even make a list of those that I need to work on, but that will be another day.
At eight this evening, I pack out and head to the d-mart.
(Day 815 TB) 39°F. 7:00 am, clear

Sleep in this morning and rise in the bright sunlight, dress in my winter blues and drive to the burger shop named what for breakfast. Then, I drive to the w-mart for coffee and key pounding.
Yesterday, I had talked with a man named Caesar drawing Christian cartoons who said that this was his ministry. I showed him one of the short videos I downloaded from JW.org and he liked it.
We then began talking about what it means to be a Christian and I had the opportunity to share many Bible verses with him. When he told me that he had been to a Kingdom Hall before, I invited him to the meeting at the hall on Thursday evening.
Today, I set up my computer and begin my key pounding when in the mid morning, Caesar walks in and greets me. We continue our discussion about Bible topics and when he packs out at about three, he says that he will see me at the hall tonight. I hope he does come.
(Day 816 TB) 39°F. 6:00 am, clear

I rise early, dress and drive for coffee and start the morning pounding keys and expect to stop at noon and drive to the hg-mart for some supplements, water and vegetables.
Shortly after midday, Richard from Hemet, California calls and tells me that one of his tenants died and he would like me to come there and work on the rentals so as to get it ready to sell. I tell him that I can be there in twelve hours if I drive straight there but would like to take it slow and take three days. He laughs and say that he is still waiting for the family to finish clearing the rental out, but is going there today to check on it and will call me back.
I pack out of the w-mart drive to the hg-mart to buy my food stuffs and then he calls me to tell me that the tenant is all out and that I can start as soon as I get here. I tell Richard that I will see him in a few days. I go back out to the jammer and pack away my supplies, then I drive north out of El Paso on IH 10 into New Mexico and then turn west on IH 10 and drive to Deming, New Mexico, arriving a suntouch, stop at the d-mart and set up for the evening.
Before I do get horizontal, I catch up on today′s journal writing.
(Day 817 TB) 41°F. 7:00 am, clear

Up to the daylight, dress in my fall blues and begin driving west on Business IH 10 until I come to a ff-mart where I stop to purchase coffee. Then, I drive out of Deming, continue west on IH 10 across New Mexico, into Arizona, also into the Sonorian desert and do not stop until I arrive at Texas Canyon rest stop. I do so enjoy seeing these rock formations at this rest stop.
Texas Canyon Rest Stop
IH 10, exit 319, Arizona
(b1a11-12-08d.20180210.0956) Texas Canyon rest stop
Leaving the stop, I continue west until I arrive in Tucson, pull off at the first exit and stop first at the Saguaro national park to purchase a sticker for the collection on my rear windows. Next, I drive to a w-mart, walk in with my computer and use one of my rewards to receive a free salad. I sit down to eat the salad, plug my computer in and begin pounding keys.
I am still working on completing those campsites that I have been to, have photos of and have assigned a campsite rating number. The only thing that is lacking from these campsites is to put all the parts on the web pages. Now, I have a few of the Sixes and a few Fours to finish the CRS.
At six this evening with the sun still in the sky, I pack out, drive to the d-mart and take a alcohol bath to clean up in preparations for the meeting tomorrow morning. Then at seven pm, after watching a colorful sunset, I wrap up the day by completing my journal entry.
Sunset in Tucson, Arizona

After that, I begin my study for the meeting tomorrow morning, I will be going to the early one.

Upon rising, I pour water on my head, use my towel to dry it and then comb my hair. Next, I do another quick alcohol body rub and then put on my light brown suit. Then, I drive to a ff-mart for coffee and a sausage biscuit, after which I drive to the hall, park and walk inside. The meeting seems to pass by so quickly and because I am only stopping for the meeting here, I soon resume the drive through town.
I stop at the hg-mart where I change from my suite into my fall blues and then go inside for some seaweed. The store in El Paso did not have any but this store has six packages and I buy all six. Afterwards, I continue my drive through Tucson, connect back to IH 10 and head west at about one this afternoon.
I call Richard and tell him that I will be there tonight and he tells me that he will hide a key for me. I tell him that I will call him when I get close and continue driving.
Driving through Arizona, I continue in the Sonoran desert and see many saguaro cactus and stop to photo a few.

Then, I continue west on IH 10 the rest of the way to Beaumont, California, turn onto SH 79 and drive the sixteen miles to Hemet.
Upon arriving in Hemet, I call Richard and tell him where I am, to which he tells me that he will meet me at the rental. I have only been parked for a short time and Richard and Janey come walking up to greet me.
We talk some about the work that needs to be done and I ride with him to his home, greet Kim and then Richard gives me the walk through. I am really impressed at how well Kim had done decorating the interior and I tell here a couple of times.
Finally, Richard drives me back to the rental and after talking a bit longer, he leaves to return home and I connect the electric and get caught up on my journal writing. Then, I get horizontal and would you know it, it is already eleven pm.

The Sojourn in the Desert Go Down Go Up
(Day 819 TB) 55°F. 6:00 am
Overnighting at the rental
Upon waking, I go inside, take a hot shower and put on my fall blues. Then I roll up the extension cord, put it away and drive to the w-mart for coffee and to up load my journal. It does not take long and soon, I am playing solitaire which does not last long until I am again working on the campsites CRS. At nine-thirty this morning, I pack out and head to the rental.
Upon arriving, I begin to draw on paper the front end of the rental, the drawing of existing structure first and next another drawing that shows how Richard wants to change the look of the front of the rental. It takes me a couple hours to get both drawings completed and then I climb into the back for a nap.
Just before two pm, Richard stops by to pick me up and we go back to his home (which I have given the name Desert House) where we both begin working on overhauling the landscaping in the front yard.
This project involves digging a drainage trench from the very rear of the property to the street in the front, removing all the green rock to use in the drainage trench, removing the existing shrubs and palm tree, digging and installing a small pond in the front yard and digging a dry river bed to allow the surface water to flow from the back to the pond. On either side of the river bed will be mounds where upon rocks and plants will later be added. From the pond, the river will continue to the street allowing excess rain water to flow onto the street.
We begin racking gravel from the area where the river bed will be, piling it up for use later. Also, we dig and move much dirt in an endeavor to create the river and pond. Richard tells me that tomorrow, he is going to take out the palm tree and the large bush in the front yard.
At five-thirty pm, Kim comes outside with a bowl of stew for me and I stop to eat. Then, Richard drives me back to the rental where I take a shower and put on my suit. Next, I drive to the hall for the midweek meeting and reacquaint myself with the friend in the congregation, many of whom remember and call me by my name.
Afterwards, I drive back to the rental, change into my evening clothes and after writing my journal entry for this evening, get into the horizontal.
(Day 820 TB) 541°F. 8:00 am
Overnighting at the rental
Richard had said that he wanted to get together this morning at seven-thirty for breakfast and afterwards, begin working on the front yard landscaping. However, he had not called by the time I awoke, and I was quite glad to sleep late particularly after the four tough hours working on the landscaping. I drive to the d-mart to purchase a tire inflator and when checking out, Richard calls to tell me that I am invited over for hotcakes, to which I tell him Be right there. Kim has prepared the breakfast and like all of her meals, it is the best.
Afterwards, we begin cutting out the bushes in the front yard, cutting the branches short to put them in the green recycle bins. After several hours, we get them down to the root stock.
For the next couple of hours, I continue to dig out the roots and finaly Richard, using his chain saw cuts the roots and we pull out what remains by tying a heavy rope to the bumper of his truck. Any roots remaining, Richard cuts slots the top of the roots and pours a chemical killing agent in the slots.

Kim tells us that supper is ready, and Richard and I eat on the patio furniture. This is a great meal with salad, bread with melted cheese and tomatoes, quinoa and salmon. Then, we return to work and cut down the palm tree, after which, Richard goes to the hardware store while I begin shoveling gravel out of the trailer, over the palm tree roots. The roots will rot in the ground.
It is shortly after sunset when I complete emptying the gravel from the trailer. Then Richard having returned from the hardware store helps me to clean up and put everything away.
Then, I head to the rental, take a shower and pound the keys to write today′s journal entry.
(Day 821 TB) 53°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Overnighting at the rental
I drive to the w-mart, purchase coffee, then a breakfast wrap and begin working on a map for the North American Deserts. By noon, I am ready for a salad and use one of my free purchases. Then I six, I shut down, pack out and head for the rental.
After backing under the carport, I carry in my cooking utensils, sprouted grains, roots and water to cook super. In about fifteen minutes, I have the Repast ready
(Day 822 TB) 51°F. 6:00 am

Rising immediately, I dress, put the three bins on the street and then drive to the w-mart for coffee and key pounding. At noon, I pack out, drive to the Palm Avenue Rental, put the bins back in their place and then drive to the Desert House continue work on the landscaping.
I begin digging the trench for the drain pipe, the pipe to bring water from the low spot in the back yard, northward along the west side of the mobile to empty into a pond in the front yard near the street. By four pm, the digging work has me waning from exhaustion.

I stop to rest for a short time and use the inflator to add air to the tires on the jammer. I am glad that I purchased this inflator because the tires were all needing air.
At five, Kim tells me that my supper is ready and that maybe it will give me some energy to keep working. I stop to eat and immediately feel better, stronger and ready to finish the trench so I continue and by six pm, have finished digging the trench. Then, I begin hosing the sidewalk off, put away the tools and lock the gates. I ring the front door bell and when Kim comes out, I tell her all the tools are put away and gates locked.
Next, I drive to the rental and plug in to charge batteries. It is seven pm and I get into the back, prepare my bed and get horizontal right away.
(Day 823 TB) 44°F. 6:00 am, clear
Overnighting at the rental
Upon rising, I drive to the w-mart, walk inside and find the electric plug already taken so I purchase a cup of coffee and sit in a stuffed chair to wait for a table next to electric to come open.
When a table does come open, I move, plug in and continue until it gets dark outside. Then, I drive to the rental, prepare supper, eat and go to bed.
(Day 824 TB) 50°F. 6:00 am, sun
Overnighting at the rental
I drive to the w-mart for coffee and to pound keys. Then at seven this morning, I move and begin pounding keys until eleven at which time I pack out, drive to the job site and begin working by noon. I am digging deeper the trench that Richard had dug to drain the back yard.
Once the trench is deep enough, Richard and I will install a three inch pipe with a catch basin on the end to collect the water and move it from the back yard to the front of the house where it will exit the drain through another basin onto the street.

Also, any other surface water will flow on top and end up in a retaining pond where a pump will move the water to the top of the river and from there flow over an upper waterfall and two more cascade falls in the front yard. This is a first time for building such a landscape feature for both Richard and myself.
Kim prepares supper after which, Richard and I drive to the hw-mart to purchase the parts for installing a waterfall. Richard also purchases a fire pit for the back yard. Then, we drive back to his home, I get into the jammer and drive to the rental, take a shower and get horizontal.
(Day 825 TB) 41°F. 6:30 am, sun
Overnighting at the rental
Rising, I immediately grab my toiletry bag and head into the rental to take a hot shower which goes a long way in warming me up. Then, I return to the jammer, set up my computer on my desk and begin working on my journal entries for the last two days, Friday and Saturday.
Then at seven-forty, Richard arrives to take me to have a breakfast, after which we return to the rental and both drive separate vehicles to his home. We then work on the drain pipe for two hours until we stop prepare for the meeting. I drive back to the rental, take a shower, dress and drive to the hall. Afterwards, I drive back to the rental, cook my dinner, eat, and because I am really tired, climb into the back to take a nap.
At six-thirty this evening, I awake and try to catch up on my journal writing. Once that is done, I return to the horizontal.
(Day 826 TB) 48°F. 5:40 am, cloudy
Full Moon
Overnighting at the rental
I awake, go inside to shower and dress in my fall blues, then back out to the jammer to await Richard. At six-forty, he arrives and I grab my sweater and jump into his car to ride to the w-mart for coffee. We check online for an auto part but it is expensive and he says that he will just buy it at the ap-mart in town. Then we drive to the ap-mart to order the part.
After that, we drive to the hw-mart to look at prices for the electrical parts for the water fall and he buys a few but I tell him to wait for the big items until we find out more about what we need. We then drive to the Desert House and resume work on the landscaping.
At noon, Richard goes inside to make lunch for the two of us and after, we continue the work. Kim, who has been out in the ministry all day arrives home at four and begins preparing supper for all three of us. I am invited in at six pm but I go to my car and change out of the dirty work clothes and put my fall blues back on during which it begins raining.
She has purchased Jack fruit and makes a meatless dish with the Asian fruit. During the meal, I ask her, what kind of meat is this? She chuckles and says it is not meat it is Jack fruit. After the meal, Richard has a movie on and goes into the living room to continue watching it but I excuse myself, thank Kim for the supper and then head to the rental.
Upon arriving at the rental, I plug in the jammer, then grab my toiletries bag and go in for a hot shower. Next, I go back out to the jammer, turn on my computer and catch up on my journal writing. At eight pm, I shut down the computer, turn of the light and get horizontal.
(Day 827 TB) 33°F. 6:00 am, clear
Overnighting at the rental
Slept good last night, awake feeling recharged, so I dress in my winter blues and turn on my computer to record the moment. It is very cold today, and needed additions cover to make it through the night. I looks like the rain has stopped for now and will wait in the jammer until Richard arrives who does at at six forty-five. He tells me that it took ten minutes to defrost his windshield.
We head to the w-mart for coffee, then the ap-mart to pick up the part for his car, next the hw-mart and finally back to Desert House where we continue working on the landscaping. Kim is here this morning and prepares eggs with vegetables on a tortilla and still have coffee left over from the w-mart. Then later, Kim make blueberry smoothes for Richard and I and we keep busy installing the drain pipe.
Installing the
French Drain Pipe
(b7-ca-2018-0220.1531) Drain Installation is nearing Completion
By three, we are close to finishing the drain but need two more sticks of the pipe so Richard goes to the hw-mart while I continue working the dirt and gravel. By four, Kim has salad, quinoa and salmon prepared so Richard and I stop again to eat supper. After eating, we work until five-thirty and get most all the pipe work done but we stop to ready ourselves for the meeting tonight.
I drive to the rental, shower, dress, head for the hall and go in. Afterwards, I drive directly home and after changing, get in the back because my legs are aching. It is shortly after nine and very cold again tonight when I achieve horizontal.
(Day 828 TB) 37°F. 6:00 am, partly cloudy
Overnighting at the rental
Rise, shower, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart and purchase a cup of coffee. Then, I check my com which is thick with junk mail because it has been a week since checking it. I also try to renew my auto license but receive a message that I need to go to a license office to do it. So that means I need to drive to Washington, arriving there by the first week of April.
At nine this morning, I pack out and drive to the bank to exchange some twenties to fifties, then to the hg-mart for groceries, next to the d-mart to buy a 3-quart stainless pot to use while I an staying at the rental which has a stove.
Then I drive to the rental to stow my food stores and cook my Repast with salmon and added chopped kale. After it is done, I get into the jammer, put up the sun shades and enjoy my supper while writing my journal entry. At eight pm, I turn off the computer and read for a short time in the book of Matthew, chapter eighteen.
Then, I turn off all my technology and assume the horizontal. My legs are still aching from the landscape work I have been doing but I do not need to take aspirin tonight.
(Day 829 TB) 36°F. 5:50 am, cloudy
Overnighting at the rental
The dayspring has already begun when I arise and begin my morning routine. I dress, disconnect the electric cord, start the jammer and drive to the w-mart for coffee. The work today is to update and improve the recipes on the Cook Pot Living Food page, particularly the Repast recipe.
At one pm, I pack out and head back to the rental to work some more on my gear. I first stop at the hg-mart to buy vegetables and then back to the rental to cook today′s Repast, same cook pot, different ingredients. Methinks, that one can use the same Repast recipe but only vary which green leafy vegetables are added and have a different tasting meal each time.
After supper, I clean up the kitchen, put away the leftovers, and pack out all the utensils to the jammer. Then, I return to the desk in the jammer and continue my journal writing. It is five-thirty and the sun has just set with only the sunglow left before dark, making this day almost twelve hours long, but only if you include the sunglow before sunrise and after sunset. However, between the two moments of suntouch, there is about eleven hours, with the equinox when there will be twelve hours between them, still a month off.
As the daylight dwindles and inside the jammer becomes darker by the moment, I continue pounding away at the keys. Soon, I will put away the key board technology and pick up the one for reading the Bible, with which I will continue my reading in the book of Matthew. This week, we are reading chapters seventeen and eighteen.
(Day 830 TB) 38°F. 5:30 am, cloudy
Overnighting at the rental
Awake at five but then sleep for a few more and upon rising, go directly inside for a hot shower. Next, I lock up the rental, unplug the jammer and drive to the w-mart for a cup of coffee. Today makes twenty two days here in Hemet and Richard wants me to stay for at least two more weeks. I have determined that the twentieth of March must be my last work day in Hemet and on the morning of the twenty-first I will leave so as to have time to camp in Oregon free during March.
This means that I will also be in Oregon for the Memorial observance and will most likely go to the Astoria, Oregon hall which is having the English meeting at seven-thirty pm. At eight this morning Richard calls and I pack out to go to work.
Soon after I arrive, Paul drives up to look at the electric pedestal and tells us that what we want is doable. When Paul leaves, Richard and I go to the hw-mart to look at the sub panel and breakers for the job. Afterwards, Richard get gas for the pickup and then we go to lunch at a Mexican chain restaurant. Finally, we drive back to his home and begin work on the landscaping.
I screen some gravel to fill in the final section of the drain pipe and then cover it with plastic. Then, I continue work on on of the sand hills shaping it and moving sand, finally help Richard cut into pieces the palm tree trunk. During this work, Richard and I talk about what kind of tree the palm is and neither of us know so I tell him that I will research it. 1 Too, I fill up the trailer with a load of the excess sand.

When Kim arrives home from the ministry, I offer to share my Repast for supper and she agrees to reheat it. Later, I drive to the rental and first take a shower and put on clean clothes. Then, I get the pot of Repast, the salad package, a tomato and avocado, then return to give them to Kim to prepare for supper. Then, I go back outside to help Richard finish up putting his tools and when that is done, we both go in for supper. The two of them say that the Repast is really good. Kim asks me why I keep eating restaurant food when I have created such a good meal with all these very healthy ingredients. I tell her that the restaurant food is easy and tastes good.
Afterwards, I drive to the rental, climb into the back, take three aspirins, and soon am sleeping. I am too tired to plug in so as to make available my small heater.
(Day 831 TB) 30°F. 6:20 am, sun
Overnighting at the rental
Despite it being a very cold night, I managed to sleep comfortable enough. I rise, go inside to for a hot shower and put on my winter blues. Next, I drive to the w-mart for coffee and to catch up on my journal writing. At eight-twenty this morning, I pack out, dress in my suit and drive to the hall for the ministry meeting.
I am assigned to work with Dennis, Donna and Craig and the four of us do return visits until it warms up outside. In the late morning, we do one street of house about, or that is what Donna calls it. Craig and I know it as house over. Donna and her husband Dennis winter here in Hemet but live most of the year in Quebec because Dennis is French from Quebec and Donna is English from Ontario. I enjoy talking with them about heritage.
Afterwards, I drive to the w-mart to pound keys and use one of my rewards to buy a salad. Then, at two this afternoon, I drive to the rental and work on my gear, sorting, repacking and discarding some. When the sun sets, I have moved into the jammer and begin pounding keys again, working on a new Living Water, Spring Water page. I will need to work more on it to complete it.
Then, at seven-thirty, I pack away the computer to acquire the horizontal so as to relieve the pain in my legs, and do some Bible reading.

Upon awaking, I go inside to prepare a cup of hot, and while sipping on the drink, begin preparations for my breakfast. I chop garlic, ginger, turmeric and put them in the cook pot with coconut oil over a medium heat to make my sautéed base mix. Then, I chop bell pepper, chard stalks, mushrooms and spinach and put them in a container. Next, I take four eggs beaten, add a quarter cup of coconut milk and a tablespoon of TWS, stir, and then pour over the base mix and continue cooking and stirring over a medium heat. Once the liquid is almost all gone, I put in the chopped fresh vegetables and continue to cook and stir. Finally, I put some of the breakfast on a plate and while eating, methinks, because all the ingredients are organic, this is good enough to go on the living food recipe page on my website.
There, that is how a new recipe is made and as I continue to prepare it, changes will inevitably come. Now, I must think of a name for the meal, maybe scrambled eggs and veggies.
At eight this morning, I finish breakfast and continue sipping on my cup of hot while doing the study for the meeting later today. However, the hot does not last as long as the Bible study but that was expected. I finish my study by ten am and then go inside to wash the dishes and clean up the kitchen. Then, as is my regular custom when staying in one of the rental here, I pack everything out to the jammer except the perishable and unnecessary items. This way, if there was some event that occurred here in this city, I would be ready to leave and drive out out the area.
I have always held the conviction that I don′t like being in any city and when I am in a city, I just never relax my guard. It is the same way that I felt when I was in Mexico, never relaxing my guard.
At ten-thirty this morning, I go into the rental and take a hot shower, after which I put on my tan suit and dress shoes. Then at eleven-fifteen, I leave for the hall arriving at a half hour before it begins. The gate is open but there are only two cars parked inside with people waiting in both. Soon, though, the friends begin to arrive, go in and I too grab my Bible, song book, tablet and go in to visit with those inside. Nice meeting with good direction for married couples and then for children. I gleaned helpful tidbits from both subjects.
Afterwards, I drive back to the rental, change into my work clothes and then drive to the Desert House to begin work with Richard. We end work just after sunset and I drive back to the rental for a hot shower. It is much warmer out this evening than it has been for several days and I need not turn on any heat this evening. I get out my computer and complete today′s journal entry and then get horizontal to read in the Bible book of Matthew.
(Day 833 TB) 37°F. 5:55 am, sun

Awake, rise, go inside to warm up with hot water, dress in my winter blues and return to the jammer to await the arrival of Richard. We had discussed the start time for this morning and decided on six-thirty. This would allow us to go first to the w-mart for coffee before resuming the landscape work.
When we sit down to drink our coffee, Richard asks me to help him to create a web site where he can provide health information, particularly that which most doctors will never tell you, even if they did know about it. I have him look up a specific web site, then direct him in setting up a free web site for himself. It is the same host that I am using for my web site. Then, we leave and head to the rental to get the jammer and we both drive to his home to resume work.
Some time around noon, Kim returns home from working in the ministry and I offer to provide the MRP for all three of us if she would make them in her blender, and when she agrees, I retrieve the container of my mix. We then stop and enjoy the drink which she also adds fresh blueberries and banana, which makes it so much better tasting. At three, Kim and Richard leave to get a trailer full of smooth river rocks and arrive back at four-thirty. I then begin putting away the tools and finally drive back to the rental for the evening.
I use all of the salad makings in the fridge to make a very nice salad, and enjoy it while writing my journal for the day. Then, I get into the horizontal.

Arise, shower, dress in my winter blues and drive to the landscape project to wait for Richard to come out. He calls me and soon, we are at the w-mart working on his web site.
At nine-forty, I ask Richard, How long are we going to stay here today? He gives me a big smile and keeps working. At ten, we head for the landscaping job and resume the work. Kim makes us both a fruit smoothie at noon and then Richard goes up on the roof to stop a leak. I continue by putting the plastic on top of the the river valley and mounds. It begins to rain at three and we continue until four-thirty when I stop because I am too wet and cold to continue.
I pack up the tools, get in the jammer, drive to the rental, park on the street and go inside to get into the hot water. Richard soon arrives with the truck pulling the trailer and parks it in the back of the carport and then walks with Janny back home. I then pull the jammer into the front of the carport and eat the remanding salad that I have in the refrigerator.
Then, I dress in my brown suit, drive to the hall and only have to wait about ten minutes before the doors are opened. Going inside, I greet a increasingly close congregation of wonderful people and even make a couple of new friends.
After the meeting, I go directly back to the rental, park the jammer, plug in to the electric and acquire the horizontal immediately. It does not take me to long to obtain sleep despite the throbbing in my legs and the overall tiredness in my body.
(Day 835 TB) 33°F. 6:20 am, sun

Another cold night but last night I used the electric heater set at 50 degrees to provide a comfortable sleeping birth. Awake this morning feeling much better than last evening, put on my winter blues and drive to the w-mart for another round of coffee and key pounding.
At one in the afternoon, I pack out and drive to the hg-mart to buy vegetables, lean meat, coconut milk and chocolate caramel patties. Then, I get out the chocolate to snack on while I drive to the rental, park under the car port, put away my groceries and climb into the back to take a nap. Methinks, the sugar has caused me to be sleepy and must remember that.
Rising at four pm, I drive into town and stop at a Mexican restaurant for a salad, chips and salsa. Afterwards, I go to the w-mart to get access and check com. Finally, I return to the rental and set up for the night. It is one hour after sunset and the moon is two hands above the horizon, which means that the full moon is tomorrow night. Then, one lunar month later is the Passover moon and the Memorial of Jesus Christ′s death.
At eight this evening, I put away the keyboard and get into the horizontal.

Full Moon, Worm Moon
Awake early, partly because I took a nap yesterday and partly because I want to see the full worm moon this morning. And true to the desert, it is clear this morning with the moon hanging one hand above the horizon. I take a couple of photos but will wait here and continue taking photos until after it reaches moontouch and then sets.
Leaving the rental and see that the sun is just now rising behind me to the east and drive to the w-mart for a day of rest and key pounding. I work on and complete the Desert Gallery and now am ready to begin the next project, the Plants Gallery. I work until about six this evening, then pack out, drive to the rental and begin preparing a large cook pot of Repast and then portion out one serving into my small cook pot; the rest of which I put in the refrigerator for eating another day.
Next, I take my meal out to the jammer and use mustard to enhance the taste. Still having several hours of this day left, I turn the computer on and pound keys while I eat. Finally, I shut the technology down, turn of the light and get horizontal.

Full Moon
Overnighting at the rental
Up early, dress, unplug and drive to the w-mart and pound keys until after dark. Today, I work on creating a new template for the plant kingdom photo gallery, then making gallery pages for the several types of plant.
About midday, Susan texts me with the corrections for the finally pages of Episode One. Now with the proof reading complete, I need to add these corrections to the original files, update the digital copy of the book and then upload it to the printer. My goal is to have this done before the spring equinox which is on the twenty-first of this month. However, that deadline is looking far too close for what I have left to do. I may have to extend the deadline to the summer solstice.
I continue working until after dark, then pack out and drive to the rental to reheat some of the leftover Repast from yesterday. I add some mushrooms and when it is hot retire to the jammer to eat and watch several videos before turn off the technology and closing my eyes.
(Day 838 TB) 45°F. 6:00 am, rain

Awake, dress in my fall blues, go inside for a hot shower and then drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot. At eight this morning, I decide that it is too wet for me to go out in the ministry, so instead, I pack out and drive to the d-mart to shop for a couple items that are on my shopping list. I find all but one and then leave to return to the w-mart to pound keys for a bit longer.
At four, I pack out and drive to the Desert House to check on Richard and Kim. I park, get out and first check on the plastic that we laid last week and Richard comes out, tells me that he needs to go to the bank and asks me if I want to ride along. I tell him yes and soon we are heading to the bank. On the way back, as is normal, he stops to walk Janey at an open field.
We then return to his home and upon going inside, Kim asks me to install a new hanging lamp fixture in the dining room. I go out to the jammer to get my tool box and begin working on the lamp. Soon, Kim tell Richard and me that supper is ready and since I have the dining room table askew, we eat at the bar. She has prepared a nice thick soup with a salad.
After eating, we sit down in the living room and watch a movie that is on the TV, Jurassic Park the first movie and I tell them that this movie goes from Good to Bad to Worse and then it gets even Worse. I leave out before it gets worse, return to the jammer and drive to the rental for the night.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, go inside for a hot shower and then drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot. I bring my tablet to prepare for the meeting.
At eleven this morning, I pack out, dress in my brown suit and drive to the hall, arriving early and park. Then, I go inside for an encouraging spiritual meal and after wards, drive to the rental to prepare leftover Repast for my some what mid day meal. After eating, I climb into the jammer for a nap.
No more than an hour into the nap, I get a call from Richard who want me to work a couple of hours. I drive there and we begin screening the dirty gravel in the back yard to get it ready to cover the new plastic. Kim bring out a bowl of greens with chicken and Richard and I stop to eat an evening meal. Then we resume the work until it get too dark and put up the tools.
Richard then asks me if I will help him put a new EGR valve on his car and it takes an hour. I leave there at eight, drive home, take a hot shower, lock up the rental and climb into the jammer to finish today′s journal entry, all before nine pm. I then turn off the computer, the light and get horizontal.
(Day 840 TB) 37°F. 6:00 am, clear
Overnighting at the rental
Arise, dress, walk inside for a shower, return to the jammer and drive to the w-mart for coffee. At seven-thirty, I drive to the Desert House and wait for Richard to come out who steps out with Janey at eight. I get out of the jammer and walk up to the fence and then we begin work.
At ten, Kim makes a DRM for each of us, then at noon, prepares a nice salmon, quinoa, and salad dinner. Richard and I continue working until five pm, when I pack out, drive to the rental to shower and then return for supper. Kim has cooked barbecue chicken with quinoa which is the best chicken I have had for a long time.
We were able to finish the sand shaping, all of the final water channel work and then spread the six mil plastic over the river bed. Also today, we install the pond, water pipe and electrical box. Methinks the next step is to install the ten mil plastic river bed and then start putting the rocks in their place, which we will begin tomorrow.
After supper, I drive to the d-mart for a carton of coconut milk, a chocolate bar and also buy a package of green banana powder to add to my MRP. Then, I head to the rental, plug in, eat the chocolate and get horizontal for the evening.

Arise, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart and go inside for coffee and check my com. At seven-thirty this morning, I pack out and drive to the Desert House to begin a day of work with Richard.
We start by laying the ten mil pond plastic over the six mil ground cover and along the river bottom. We tape the seems, put the flat rock in place and begin filling in the river bottom with rock, mostly small but also for larger ones.
Kim call us at noon for a meal that she has prepared, salmon with quinoa and cole slaw. Richard and I both enjoy the hot meal and then go right back to work.
Richard leaves to get a trailer load of the gold gravel, which will be used outside of the river bed to serve as ground cover. Methinks the look that we are going for is a dry river bed in the desert and it is really starting to take shape.

At four, we call it good so that we may prepare for the meeting tonight. I pack out, drive to the rental and take a hot shower, a welcome one after eight hours of hard work. I then move the refrigerator out of it′s spot in the kitchen and push it into the dining room where I plug it in. The cabinet next to the refrigerator needs to be repaired and remodeled so as to have a 32 inch space for the refrigerator.
Then, at six, I put on my suit and drive to the hall for the meeting tonight, after which, I return to the rental and climb directly into the back. A short time later, Richard arrives to pay me for the work today and generously gives me a large bonus.
Then, I reacquire the horizontal and soon after taking three aspirin I am able to sleep.

Arise and dress in my fall blue, pack the tools from the truck trailer into the rental. Richard dropped off the truck and trailer last night and had asked me to do some repairs on the rental. Then, I drive to the w-mart for coffee and some key pounding, working today on setting up the Burden Passage, A Wayƒarer′s Work.
At three this afternoon, I pack out, drive to the rental and begin the work of repairing the kitchen cabinets. I work until the sun begins to set and because I need the sun light to see to work with the electrical saw, I stop, put away the the tools and stop for the night. Then, I take photos of the sunset, after which I finish putting away my tools.

Next, I get into the jammer and finish the journal entry for today, read some in the Bible and finally get horizontal. It has been really nice out today, very comfortable.

Overnighting at the rental
Up, dress in fall blues go inside to shower, then unplug and drive to the w-mart for coffee. I continue with the creation of new gallery pages for Wayƒarer′s Work until almost ten this morning and then stop, pack out and head to the d-mart to get a hair cut and some shopping. Afterwards, I return to the rental to continue work on the cabinet repair. By four pm, I am finished with the framing, methinks the framing is the hard part. What is left is the panel, shelves, wood puddy, painting, and painting. I talk with Richard and he is happy this much is done.
I pack away the tools, take a shower and head for the w-mart for more key pounding. At seven, I pack out of the w-mart so as to head back to the rental to prepare my supper, but I decide to go straight instead of turning right and look once more for a Mexican restaurant. I turn into a shopping center and I am just about to turn around and head home when I see a poorly lit restaurant, then take a second look and see that the sign says Arturo′s Mexican restaurant. I pull in, park, go in and find this a charming place decorated in all kinds of wonderful animal figurines; some even as tall as I stand.
A woman comes out from the back and tells me to sit anywhere and then asks me what I would like to drink. I order the grilled fish with rice, beans, tortillas and salad. Soon, I am eating from a large bowl of chips dipping them in fresh salsa and fresh guacamole. When the food is brought to me, it is on a large oval plate and loaded. I begin enjoying this wonderful meal.
While I am eating, I see an older woman walk by with a bucket and mop, go into the rest rooms and begin to clean. She is cleaning during the entire time that it takes me to eat my meal. When I am finished eating and begin walking towards the door, she come out and walks out to the front. I tell here that her trabajo, (work) es lo mas importante aqui (is the most important) in this business. She says, yes, I know that. I tell her that I love the decor, that all the animals are beautiful. We talk for a time more, then I tell her adios, hasta pronto and then drive to the rental.
Once I arrive at the rental, I plug in, get into the back of the jammer to update my journal. Then, I read for a short time, then sleep, both from the position of the horizontal.

Overnighting at the rental
Awake, put on my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee and key pounding to await a call from Richard telling me he is up and ready to work.
Methinks about the restaurant where I ate supper last evening and know that I will be back to eat there again. In all my life and in all my travels, I have always loved eating in Mexican restaurants. However, most today are not the mom, pop and family restaurants like I grew up with and learned to love. Instead, most restaurants have become commercialized and their food suffers because of it.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart and when it opens, walk in to set up my computer, buy a cup of coffee and begin catching up on my journal writing. After a second cup, I pack out, dress in my suit and drive to the hall for the ministry meeting. I notice that there are small drops of rain on the windshield, but unlike last Saturday when I choose not to go out, today, I persist.
Today, I work with Mike and Veronica and we do calls for about an hour and a half before heading back to the hall. Mike and I talk about health issues and he tells me that bioflavonoids can stop leg pain. Then, I drive to the bank to exchange small bills for larger, stop at the d-mart for more coconut milk and finally drive to hg-mart for a bottle of bioflavonoids to help alleviate the pain in my legs.
Afterwards, I drive to the w-mart to work on the computer but by three this afternoon, I am cold from the rain, sore from working, hurting all over and tired so I drive back to the rental and take a nap. At five pm, I rise, go into the rental to take a hot shower and then prepare a salad for my supper. Returning to the jammer, I turn on the computer and begin pounding keys while eating my meal.
Soon after sunset, I stop pounding, put away the keyboard, and get into the horizontal to read from the book of Matthew. When I try to sleep, my left leg is throbbing so that I take three aspirins. A few hours later with no relief yet, I take two more of the tablets and return to the sleep position. It seems that at just after midnight I sit up and say, that was a dream, I have been sleeping. It was not a good dream so I say a prayer to receive help in keeping that kind of dreams away from me. I wake up again after two am and methinks, now, that dream was not bad at all. Too, I notice that the steady pounding of rain on the roof has stopped and say, Well, the rain has stopped. I then get back into the horizontal and sleep until morning.

Upon rising, I dress, text Richard that I am going to the Mexican place, drive to Arturo′s Mexican restaurant and order an omelet with beans, rice, tortillas for breakfast and Arturo brings a bowl of chips, salsa and guacamole for me to start. I begin doing my Bible study for the meeting and continue my study when the food arrives. Afterwards, I drive to the w-mart to check com and upload web site page upgrades. Soon, Richard calls and asks me where I am, to which I reply at the w-mart and he then says, Oh, I see your van, I will be right in.
When he does come in, I buy his hot chocolate and we sit for a short time and talk some about the work we are doing. Then Kim calls to remind him that the meeting starts in less than an hour. I am just as surprised as Richard is and we both pack out and go to our vehicles. I put on my suit and then head to the meeting.
My days are numbered here in Hemet, just a single digit midget with nine days left to departure. After the meeting, I go to the Desert House and Richard first go to buy electrical and then work on the pedestal to replace the twenty amp sub panel with the larger one that we have purchased. At sunset, we go back to the hw-mart to get a couple more items for the work. Richard will leave tonight and not be back until Thursday and wants me to do as much of the electrical work as I can before he returns. As always, I will do the best that I can in doing what he asks.
Then, at just before eight this evening, I leave the Desert House and drive to the rental, plug in, connect my computer and catch up on my journal writing for today. At eight-thirty, I call it good, shut down the technology and get horizontal once more to read then sleep.

I pack out and head to the Mexican restaurant for supper after which I drive to the rental, plug in and update today′s journal entry. Then, I lie down to rest my legs and take a nap. Today, it was very warm, so warm that I am glad that I am leaving soon. Later, the nap turns into tonight′s sleep.

At eleven, I pack up and head to the Desert House to work some more and begin adding more to the electrical but soon come to a point where I need Richard to make a decision so I stop, put away the electric and begin working on the gazebo. I is a metal structure, eight foot square, painted flat black and is covered with a metal roof.
The instructions tell me to begin with the roof part of the structure and I am able to get nearly all of the roof completed by five when Kim comes out and reminds me that the meeting is tonight. I stop working, put away the tools and then head for the rental for a hot shower.
Next, I drive to the hall for the meeting, arriving a half hour before it begins but my legs are throbbing that I only stay for the first two of three parts. I leave, drive to the rental and get horizontal.

Arise, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and to pound keys until ten this morning, then drive to the Desert House but Kim tells me that Richard is still asleep. I set up my computer in the back of the jammer and work longer on the key pounding.
Then, at eleven this morning, Richard walks out to the jammer and after putting away the computer, I walk with him to the work area in the back yard where we discuss what we need to do during the next few days. Then, we get into his car and drive to the hw-mart looking for specific parts to complete those tasks.
After going to four stores and still not finding everything we are looking for, we return to the Desert House where Kim has a meal prepared for us. We go inside, sit at the bar and while eating discuss what we will do further. After eating, Richard and I go out to the back and work until it gets too dark to continue.
Next, we pack away the tools and supplies, then I drive to the rental, take a hot shower and then get into the jammer for the evening. Richard comes by later to pay me for my work the last three days. Then, because I feel a head cold coming on, I get right into the horizontal to sleep.

When the alarm goes off and awakens me, I just lie in my bag for a long time but not being able to sleep any more, finally rise, dress and get out my computer to pound keys while waiting to hear from Richard. The sun rises above the horizon at seven-twenty and the day looks promising for outdoor work. I go inside the rental and put on a pot of water to make a cup of hot and then drive to the Desert House to sit in the jammer, sip on the hot and wait for Richard to come out.
Richard comes out at nine and we go for breakfast at an old favorite. Then, we return to the Desert House and before we begin working, we go inside and Kim offers me some supplements called Wellness Formula (WF) which is suppose to help the immune system. I take the recommended dosage of six capsules, but Richard gives me a take with package with about twenty more capsules. Richard and I then go outside to continue our work.
At four, because it is quite cold and because I have a head cold, I pack out and drive to the rental to take a hot shower, after which I drive to Arturo′s for supper of grilled fish, salad, rice, tortillas, chips and salsa.
Then, I return to the rental to work on my computer but the meal put me into a sleep coma so I turn it off, take three of the WF capsules and get horizontal shortly after six this evening.

When the alarm goes off at six this morning, I realize that I was down for nearly twelve hours. That seems to have helped me fight the cold but I can tell that I still am affected by the virus with coughing, drainage and a headache. I take six of the WF capsules, turn on my electric heater and begin pounding keys to catch up on three days of journal writing.
Then at eight this morning, I unplug, drive to the l-mart to wash my work clothes, just one load. Once they come out of the dryer, I hang the clothes on hanger and put them in the back of the jammer. Next, I drive to Arturo′s for an omelet breakfast, after which I drive to the hg-mart and buy more of the WF, bilberry, pcnogenol and some organic blue berries.
Then, I leave the store and drive to the Desert House and soon after, Richard and Kim arrive from a morning in the ministry. Richard, knowing that I have been sick, asks if I want to work inside installing ceiling lamps to which I tell him yes. Kim prepares a late lunch of hot dogs, French fries and cole slaw. Actually, the hot dogs were really organic sausage and the fries were baked organic potatoes. Richard works on the river bed while I continue installing the lamps.
At seven this evening, I pack out and head to the rental for a hot shower and to catch up in my journal. It begins to rain lightly and then I turn off my computer, take some supplements and go to sleep.

Sleep later again this morning, get up and go inside for a hot shower. The drain clear liquid I put into the shower drain yesterday is working a little but it is still not draining fully. Richard told me that he has another formula that is stronger and will retrieve it from a neighbor.
After my shower, I return to the jammer, unplug it and get in. Since I feel better this morning but still have a headache, I take a full dosage of the WF supplements again this morning.
Then, I drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and to do my study for today, after which I put on my suit in the w-mart parking lot and drive to the hall for the meeting. When it is over, I return to the rental, change into my fall blues, and drive to the Desert House. Richard and Kim are waiting for me, and together the three of us go to a Mexican restaurant for an early supper.
When we finish eating, we return to the Desert House where Richard and I begin working on the dry river bed, first screening the gold gravel, removing the pile of dirt and then rolling out and cutting into place the remaining plastic ground cover, finishing by sunset. While we are putting away the tools, a young woman walking down the middle of the street carrying a sleeping bag hollers out to every one she sees, Do you know anyone who wants sex?
Methinks, And this is only a small desert city, not near as bad as Los Angeles. Still, it is a sad expression of what Satan has done to the people here.
We finish picking up the tools and I drive back to the rental for the evening, get out my computer and write in my journal.

Awake and begin waiting for Richard to pick my up. He arrives shortly before seven this morning and we go for coffee and biscuit sandwiches. Then, we drive back to the rental to get his truck, go to Phil′s home to dump the load of sand, then back to the rental to get my van and we each drive out vehicles to the Desert House to begin working on the 100 amp sub panel. Richard goes under the home and I stay at the panel and we pull wire all morning.
We stop for lunch and I go out to the van to get my MRP to drink and Richard makes a chili bureto for both of us. Richard goes to get parts but I continue on the 100 amp sub panel and by one in the afternoon, have finished the wiring of the sub panel. Then, I begin working on the fountain switch in the back yard until Richard arrives and then we begin work on the house electrical until dark.
Then, Richard goes to get his car and I get out my camera to photo the crescent moon.

Then, we both go to the hw-mart to find a couple more parts to finish the projects and upon returning go inside to eat supper prepared by Kim. Afterwards, I leave to go to the rental, plug in, write in my journal and then get horizontal.
It is after nine when I finally close my eyes.

I did not turn on my alarm last night and awoke at five-thirty this morning but went back to sleep. Now, I await for Richard to pick me up to go for coffee and then to begin my last day of work at the Desert House. At eight this morning, I drive to the Desert House, park out front and there wait to show up, which he does at eight-thirty. We get into his car and drive to get coffee and breakfast. Then, we drive to the hw-mart for a few items, including a can of spray paint for the job Kim is doing.
The progress on Paradise River is also going well.

We then return to the Desert House and begin work, myself on the installation of a new outdoor lamp for the back yard and Richard goes under the mobile to install the circuits that run to the front of the house. When Richard finishes that, he gives me the leftover romex wire which I then strip off the outer cover, put the separate wires through the conduit from the switch to the lamp and finally, install the lamp.
Then Richard and I put the legs on the gazebo, use some of my extra nylon cord to secure the gazebo from high winds and then pack away all the tools. Richard goes inside to cook some organic hot dogs and we share one last meal. I leave shortly before seven, drive to the rental, take a cold bucket shower outside, dress for the meeting and drive to the hall. After the meeting, I bid farewell to several of the friends and head back to the rental for the night.
After changing my clothes, I sit down, open my map book and begin looking at my route when Richard walks up to tell me goodbye one more time. Finally, I turn on my computer to write today′s journal entry after which I get horizontal, but not a moment before ten pm.
Methinks, now, all I have is a wakeup and I am returned to the journey on.

Arise, dress in my fall blues, unplug, drive to the w-mart for coffee and to upload to my website. Then, I set my GPS for the Yucaipa w-mart and drive there on SH 38 for my second cup. Next, I set my GPS for the Big Bear Lake w-mart and drive up to Onyx Summit at 8,443 feet where I stop and take a photo of the Pacific Crest trail. This may be a green desert, but it is extremely dry now.

So far, the day has been clear with bright sun. I continue to Big Bear Lake and stop at the g-mart to look for sprouted rice, find one sixteen ounce bag and purchase it. In the same store, I buy my third cup of hot. Walking out to the jammer, I stop to take a photo of the ski slopes.

Leaving Big Bear, I drive drive north on SH 18, down into Lucerne Valley, Apple Valley, then Victorville and turn north on US 395. Soon after that, it begins to rain and continues for the next four hours. As I continue north, it looks like it is beginning to clear but when I stop to fill the gas tank, the rain catches up to me. It is like the storm is moving north right with me.
By the time that I arrive in Lone Pine, I am ahead of the storm again and stop at the Eastern Sierra Interagency Visitors Center on SH 136 and here find out that tomorrow, this rainstorm will turn to snow and all of the high summits to the north on US 395 are going to require carrying tire chains. When I walk back outside, I find that it is raining so I decide to change my plans and not stop at Turtle Creek campground for tonight but to drive north on US 395 into Nevada and in doing so, cross all the high summits before the rain turns white.
When cresting Sherwin Summit (7000 feet), the road condition is dry and soon after, I travel along Crowley Lake. Then US 395 crosses the Long Valley Caldera to provide access to Mammoth ski resorts, which shortly after that, I arrive at Deadmans summit (8036 feet), which has snow covering the ground.
However, even though the road is wet, the driving conditions are good. Continuing north, I drive past June Lake, the eastern access to Yosemite National park and then drive down to Lee Vining, but do not stop and continue to Mono Lake. This is a salt lake with three times the salinity of the ocean.
Mono Lake

After driving along the narrow passage between Mono Lake and the Sierra crest, I begin the climb up to Conway summit (8138 feet) and the highest elevation on US 395. This summit is dry making the crossing easy and the drive down the north side is along the East Walker river to Bridgeport where I stop and add only four gallons of the overpriced gas to the tank.
Continuing north on US 395, I soon come to Devils Gate Pass (7519 feet), and it too is dry and clear. The winding descent is along the West Walker river and exits near the town of Walker and Coleville in the Antelope valley. After that, I arrive at Topaz Lake and cross into Nevada, and then US 395 crosses one more pass, Simme Dimeh Summit (5987 feet) before it goes into Gardnerville. From here, I continue to Carson City, where I take the IH 580 loop around the city and then north to Reno where I first stop at the hg-mart in search of sprouted rice.
After not finding the rice, I leave there and drive to the d-mart, go inside to purchase two gallons of spring water. Then, I return to the jammer and climb into the back. It has been a long day for me, from six this morning until ten tonight, sixteen hours of driving north. And the rain continues into the night.
(Day 857 TB) 39°F. 6:20 am, rain. Elev. 4506 feet.
Overnighting in a parking lot
Arise, dress in my winter blues and drive to the w-mart to check the weather forecast for the route north and what I find that is that there is some snow north of me but there is not too much along my proposed path, only rain. There is a dry section along the coast of Oregon and my plan is to make my way there today. I get one refill in my cup, pack out and then head north on US 395.
Leaving Reno, I soon arrive in Bordertown and amazed at seeing the lake full of water. Nearly every other time I have driven by here, this lake was either a campground with a large amount of cars parked in the middle or the lake was nearly dry. Next, I cross into California and must needs stop at the California Border station where the state police asks: Do you have any plants, produce, firewood or oranges? to which I reply, No. He then says, Have a good day and I am waved on to drive into California.
Continuing north on US 395 which turns east at Johnsonville, I drive through a few small towns and then begin to climb back up over another mountain range and soon the dry roads turn wet, then white with more snow coming down. I arrive at Sage Hen summit (5655 feet) with the snow coming down hard but as soon as I cross over the pass, the snow stops, the sun comes out and as I continue descending, the road returns to dry conditions.
Crossing a long flat section just south of Alturas, I drive along a wetland area where I stop, get out my camera and photograph some of the local birds. It is not until much later do I find out that this bird is a new species for my bird gallery.

Modoc NWR, CA
At Alturas, I leave US 395 and turn east on SH 299, drive for nineteen miles and turn north on SH 139 for about thirty mile and take the Tionesta road exit and when I turn onto the black top, I can tell the snow has just recently melted. Just past Tionesta, I come to another sign which reads: Lava Beds National Monument, Next Right. The next sign reads: Road not maintained in Winter but it looks clear and I continue the fourteen miles to the national park.
Stopping at the visitors center, I find it is closed, so I drive to the campground and choose a site near the toilet house.

Awake to a frozen morning and find my windshield gathered condensation and then froze. I start the engine, turn on the defroster and then get out to walk to the toilet building. When I return to the jammer, I check the thermometer and find it reads 22°F, Then, I change it to the minimum settings and find it was down to 16°F (Wow) during the night.
That is the absolute coldest that I have slept in the jammer since I began wind jamming in September 2009. Previously, the low temperature was 23°F when I was at Fort Union, New Mexico on 16 March 2010 (Day 930 BR)
Too, the ice on the inside of the windshield is not melting so I get out a credit card and begin scraping; I knew that credit cards were good for something. The scraped ice drops to a towel that I have placed over the dash and when it is full of ice, I shake it outside. Doing this helps get all the moisture (acquired yesterday in the heavy rains) out of the jammer.
The jammer does not have heat but only air coming from the heating system and I have been using the windshield defroster, with cold air, to remove condensation but frozen condensation is a different story altogether. Once the windshield is clear, I drive north out of the park on Hill Road, taking photos at several stops.

Soon, I cross into Oregon and drive to Klamath Falls where I stop at a w-mart for coffee, com and to upload web files.
Now, the next step is to drive to the coast, which means that I must needs drive through two more mountain ranges, first the Cascade Range and next, two passes of the Oregon Coast Range. The good news is that these mountain ranges are not too high in elevation.
Leaving Klamath Falls, I locate SH 66 and drive east on the southern most Oregon route over the mountains. First, I cross Haden Mtn Summit (4695 feet) with snow coming down but do not have any problems with this pass. Next, I arrive at Tub Springs wayside but do not stop because on Day 287 when testing the Ph of the water, found it to be acidic and now only stop if I need cleaning water, which i don′t and the snow is coming down here even harder now. Soon after that, I cross Green Springs Summit (4551 feet) in heavy snow but not sticking to the roadway so, I make it through this pass as well and down to Ashland.
From there, I enter and drive north IH 5, then just after passing Grants Pass, I climb up to my first summit but it is less than 2000 feet in elevation. The roadway is wet with some slush and snow coming down but have no problem cresting it. Then, by Wolf Creek there is Stage Road pass at 1830 feet and cross it on wet and slush like the last one. The third one is Canyon Creek pass at 2020 feet and cross on the wet slush just like the two previous.
When I arrive at Sutherlin, I take exit 136 and drive north on SH 138 for thirty-eight miles in very icy slush conditions but I pull in behind a snow plow truck which clears the road ahead of me. Arriving at Elkton, I turn west on SH 38 and drive thirty-five miles to Reedsport on a wet road with snow falling, arriving at the coast at about five this evening. Next, I turn south on US 101 on a wet highway and drive five miles to Umpqua Lighthouse state park, find a space and check in for the night.

Next, I plug in all my electronics to charge the batteries and turn on my computer to write my journal entry for today. Finally, I get out some cans for my supper, not wanting to cook with it still raining hard.
At seven this evening, my tiredness causes me to retire to the horizontal and read for a little before closing my eyes.

Arise, dress, drive to the shower house for a hot shower and then return to the jammer. After I put away all my shower gear, I drive south on US 101 and stop for coffee. Then, I drive to the hall and wait for the meeting to start.
When the meeting begins, we have something different than I have ever seen at the hall, the public talk was a recorded talk that was downloaded by the English speaking congregations. I am not sure how many but I suspect that the talk was given world wide, maybe in many different languages. It was a very informative and a powerful talk about who Jesus is and I hope that it will be made available for download by individuals. I would like to watch it again because the speaker made some really good points.
Leaving the hall, I drive to US 101 and this time head northward on the coast scenic byway and stop at a few places, mostly looking for bumper stickers for the jammer and find a few at the sea lion caves. I stop also at Cape Perpetula but do not find any here.
Then I continue north until arriving in Newport where I stop at the South Beach campground and secure a campsite. This being the first weekend on spring break, the campground, like Umpqua campground, is nearly full but I do find one open and set up. I plug in and then do a little cleaning in the jammer after which, I climb inside with the heater on to pound keys until I am too tired to continue.

This morning, I begin work on updating my Terms of Use for all pages which provide beneficial information, especially those about how to eat healthy and avoid disease. Isn′t it a crying shame when a person can not share beneficial and positive help without the possibility of someone suing you because it did not work for them.
At four this afternoon, I pack out and drive back to the campground to find a site, which seem to be much more available today. I secure space # A9 and then set up my camp.

Then, I begin to cook a pot of Repast, a double portion, one for today and another for tomorrow before I drive to the mid-week meeting at the hall which is north of town. I use up most all of my fresh spices and much of my leafy greens.
Just before I begin eating, a man walking his dog returns a greeting and we start a conversation about full time van camping. I also offer him a taste of my repast and I do believe that he likes it because when I offer a second taste, he readily accepts it. After I eat, I clean up the kitchen, put it all away and then head to the bath house for a hot shower.
Upon returning to the jammer, I put away my shower gear, then climb inside and complete my journal writing for this day. Then at eight this evening, I must needs turn on the heater and then begin readying myself for the horizontal.

This congregation, unlike the full house in North Bend is sparsely filling the hall with about fifty publishers. Still, the meeting is good and the greetings are many.
Afterwards, I drive directly back to the campsite, plug in and get into the horizontal to warm up from the dampness about.

Slowly, the coast of Oregon seems to be warming up and today, although it begins with rain, later changes to sunshine. Methinks that this journey on may still come around to become a comfortable one. I arise, walk to the shower and get under the medium hot water and soak for as long as I can stand it. I am still wearing my winter blues as I walk back from the shower house, unplug the jammer from the electric, stow the cord, get into the drivers seat and drive out of the park heading north again.
After a few brief stops, I arrive in Lincoln City, locate the w-mart, go inside, purchase a cup of coffee, then sit down and pound keys for the majority of this day. A group of three from the local hall stop for coffee and I give them my standard question, Do you know any of the Great Crowd? When a smile comes across the brothers face, I hold out my hand to greet him and we talk briefly.
I continue pounding keys until after five this evening and then drive to Devils Lake state park to find a space
Nearly the entire campground is under water, albeit shallow water. Most of loop B is on higher ground and the campers fill that area up first like it is today, but I am able to find a space in Loop A with a dry parking area.

Last evening, when I took a shower, I found that the water was no longer hot like it once was but only warm, barely warm enough for a comfortable shower. So, since the fee to camp has been increased, I decided to reassess the CRS and found that this campground has dropped from the rating of eight to the new lower rating of six. Most likely, I will need to reassess most all the campsites as I visit them in the future.

Then I walk into the dressing room to put on my swim suit and go out to the pools. I go to the large swimming pool, the one with cold water, jump in and the head for the hot pools, where I get into the hot one, about 104 degrees walk out to the middle and say out loud, This is where I belong, my home.
Over the course of several hours, I am able to start conversations with many people, most of whom are from Port Angeles and Seattle, but also a few from out of the country, places like Romania, Ukraine, Korea, and Germany. When ever possible, I direct the conversation to the good news of God′s Kingdom and have some very positive conversation with several people.
Leaving the hot springs at five, I drive back towards the highway an see that the sun is shining down on the Sol Duc river, so I stop to take as few photos. Normally, it is dark and hard to photograph.

Next, I go to the motor vehicle department and renew the licence for the jammer completing the two necessary things causing me to drive here. Still, I want to visit with the friends here and go out in the ministry too. After that, with the rain coming down fairly steady, I head back to the w-mart for more key pounding. Then, I turn in early today.
(Day 871 TB) 49°F. 6:50 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
All day the rain poured down yesterday and it was often that my thought envisioned driving to dryer ground, methinks that rain such as this is what caused me to leave this place years ago and suppose that the wet really does not hurt me physically, but it does take a large toll on me mentally. I will endeavor to stick it out for as long as I can keep positive.
I endeavor to stay indoors as much as possible, but sitting in a hard chair for long hours wipes me out too. Still, much is the way of web site update is accomplished during those hours and then at six-thirty, I pack out and put on my suit. However, today, because I am chilled from the dampness, I put the suit on right over my shirt and trousers which immediately begins to add warmth to my body. Then, I drive to the hall arriving at seven pm, and find no one having already arrived. I park and wait but it does not take too long before the door is unlocked and I am inside visiting with my long time family of friends.
Some time close to ten, I leave, drive to the d-mart, climb into the back but do not get horizontal and play solitaire for a while.

(Day 872 TB) 51°F. 8:00 am, overcast
Overnighting in a parking lot
After sleeping late, I drive to the w-mart, go in for coffee, com and then begin pounding keys working on the passage level pages to update them with the latest improvement to my web site. This takes me into the afternoon while I watch outside transform from an overcast damp day into a cloudy but bright and sunny day. If fact, the entire area dries up, warms up and turns cheery. Wow, I am so glad that I stuck around and waited for the dreary rains to stop.
In the early afternoon, Patty, a sister stops in the and greets me and says I see you here every year and asks how long I am going to stay. I tell here that I do not expect to stay very long, that I came to renew the licence tabs on my van and that is already done. I ask her to join me for a drink of something hot and I buy us both a cup of hot green tea. Then, we sit down and talk for a couple of hours before she needs to get back home to take care of her mom. When she leaves, I resume the key pounding. Outside, the sun continues to shine and the sky has just about cleared of all clouds.
I continue to pound keys until it gets dark and then I go out for a cup of Pho Tom, hot soup with shrimp. While I am in the restaurant, Richard calls and we catch up of what is going on with each of us. He tells me that he has the front yard covered with the Palm Springs Gold gravel, to which I ask him for a photo for my web site. After eating, I return to the d-mart to park for the night during which it begins to rain again.
(Day 873 TB) 50°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
When I open my eyes and look outside, I see that the overcast dreary sky has returned and it is raining lightly. I drive to the w-mart, go inside for a cup of coffee, check my com and then get caught up on my journal.
One of my good friends, JP, comes into the w-mart for coffee and asks me if I am coming to the Rocky Point Lodge today for the get together. I tell him that I did not know about it, nor where Rocky Point Lodge is located. He shows me on my computer and I tell him that I will see him there.
Then, I pound keys until noon after which I go to see Joann to help her with some legal documents and share my MRP with her. She says that it is too bitter and I have to agree with her. We add some Stevia and that helps some.
Leaving there, I drive to Rocky Point where there is a log cabin which is a lodge that can be rented for gatherings. Some of the friends are having a congregation gathering with a meal and square dancing. I only heard about this hoedown early this morning when a friend walked into the w-mart where I was and asked if I will be there. Not ever having been to the Rocky Point Lodge, I decided that I would make it, even if just for a showing.
I arrive at the point and see the log cabin in the park area. Then, I find a parking spot and make my way over to the Rocky Point Lodge.

The lodge is on the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station property and is available for gatherings. It is a log cabin with a stone fire place at either end. Both the inside and outside of the log cabin is well preserved and I find the structure a very nice place to have a gathering such as I am soon to join.
I bring my camera and soon, I am taking photos of groups of people who ask me to send them a copy of the photo, to which I agree readily. I tell most that I will post the photos on my Facebook page where they can download them.

Walking around the lodge, I take photos of some of the friends sitting and visiting at their tables.

After the first two training videos, then JP put one on where the caller did some dancing calls and the friend did amazingly well, still the whole hoedown was hilarious and I can not remember the last time I had so much fun.
After that, the friends are still elated from the great time we have had here this evening, but like all get togethers, they come to an end and then the clean up and pack out commences followed by heading home.

Up early, dress in my winter blues and head to the w-mart for coffee and to prepare for the meeting this morning. Then, I drive to the hall for another two hours associating with some of my best friends.
Afterwards, I drive to the w-mart and get busy cropping photographs, uploading files and writing up a post for Facebook.
This day comes to an end all too quickly, I barely have enough time to upload the numerous photos and other files much less create a post, but staying up late allows me to get most of it done.

Rise, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart, purchase a cup of hot tea and begin pounding keys. I have some work to do in order to show the videos of the Hoedown on my web site and so begin converting the files to one that will display correctly. Too, I have found out that I must change my type of document to the new Html 5 format, which does not prove to be too difficult. By three this afternoon, I have all the new mp4 files uploaded and this page playing the videos.
(Day 876 TB) 58°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Upon rising, I notice that it is much warmer today than it has been since I first arrived, but the temperature is only have of the weather. I dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart, go in for a cup of hot and to check com. Once that is done, I continue the update of my web pages, now working in the Burden Passage, Journal section. Then, at two in the afternoon, the sun comes out and everything is bright, cheery and even warm, well, at least for now.
At five this afternoon, Joe from Spring Hill calls and ask me to join him camping in Lander, Wyoming and working where there is a need for Kingdom publishers with the brothers there. He says that he will be there during the last week in June and I tell him that I will definitely be there.
At six this afternoon, I pack out and begin looking for a different place to eat, stop at an old favorite and have a very good supper. Then, I drive back to the d-mart and park for the

Awake, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot, check com and then begin pounding keys, first to begin my journal entry, then to continue work on the update to my web pages.
The rain resumes with strong winds and this cold and wet is wearing me down each day I stay on the island. I leave the w-mart, park for the evening and bundle up for another cold night.
(Day 878 TB) 50°F. 6:00 am, overcast

Awake to another day on the island but methinks that my days left here are very few. This decision is because it remains too cold and wet here for my likings; true, last Tuesday afternoon was sunny and warm but that only lasted one afternoon. However, today, the sun come out in the early afternoon and I pack out of the w-mart to go a few places.
First, I stop by to see my friend Joann who is home recuperating from pneumonia. After than, I stop in the Rotary Park to clean up the jammer, sweep out all the dirt on the carpet and straighten the inside. Then, I change into my suit and drive to the hall for the midweek meeting.
When the meeting is over, I drive back to the d-mart and park for the evening.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Today make my tenth day here on this rock and the condition are not changing but continue to be mid fifties during the day and forties during the night with continued rain or overcast conditions which make it hard for me to join in the ministry during the day so, instead, just keep pounding the keys.
Still, I am getting a lot of work done on my web site updates while I am here.
(Day 880 TB) 49°F. 8:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Another rainy and windy night but one not extremely cold. I oversleep this morning and then drive to the w-mart for coffee and com. At about eleven one of the car groups out in the ministry comes into the w-mart and we talk briefly.
One sister asks me why I am not going out in the ministry here and I tell her it is too cold and wet. She replies, This cold is invigorating! to which I tell her, Not to me ever since I have de-acclimated to this climate. Instead, it just chills me to the bone. She says, And it does not take long to de-acclimate.
During the midday, the rain stops and for a moment, methought that the sun was going to come out but by four, all hope has faded back to rain. Then by six this evening, the rain begins to pound down hard. Methinks, I just want to endure here for just a day or two more and then I will drive south into Oregon and begin camping in the state parks where I can plug into the electrical.
I pack out just before suntouch, drive to a Mexican restaurant for supper and afterwards, back to the d-mart to park for the evening. The rain continues all along.
Sunday, 15 April 2018, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 881 TB) 44°F. 5:50 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
After another night of the constant sound of rain on the roof of the jammer, I awake before the alarm, clean up with an alcohol rub, then dress in my winter blues and drive to the w-mart for coffee. Too, I bring in my tablet to do my study for the meeting later today. After finishing my study, while pounding keys, a sister walks in to give me her mom′s memorial. I ask her if I will see her at the hall and she says that she does not go any more because she has issues. I ask her Issues with Jehovah? to which she shakes her head no as she walks away.
Methinks that it is totally a shame that a person, any person will leave the loving fellowship because of issues. True, I have issues with some of the friends at times but I keep it clear in my thinking that all of us in the brotherhood are imperfect and will invariably cause issues from time to time, even myself, as being the foremost causer. Still, I know that Jesus said that the two most important commandments are to Love God and to Love our neighbor as ourself. I can not see myself fulfilling that second command if I decide to leave the fellowship, for any reason. Thus, I will endure, no matter what and pray to Jehovah that he help those I do offend to forgive me for my inequities. It is time to go to the meeting.
Just before the meeting, a brother comes up to me and asks it I have photos of where the underground wire leaves the hall and goes to the lawn mower shed. He says that he need to know where it is located so he can dig it up to attach a wire to it. I assure him that of all the photos I took during the hall build, that I should. I give him my card and tell him to seen an email to me. Meanwhile, I head to the w-mart, get out the photo drive and begin looking. In no time, I have some photos of what I think he is looking for and email them to him. He emails back and says he is sending them to Roger and waiting for a replay. Soon, he emails me to say that the photos did the job, they know where the line is. Any time my friend, I have a lot more photos.
Leaving the hall, I drive to the w-mart and resume pounding keys until it becomes dark. Then I assume the parking position along with the horizontal one.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Another rain drenched night, awake during the early morning and drive to the w-mart for coffee and a breakfast wrap. Then, the key pounding resumes for another day. Then, after a long day sitting in the coffee shop, I pack out and go to have supper at the restaurant with a senior salad bar for four dollars.
Leaving the restaurant, I return to the d-mart and retire for the evening. It is raining hard, and I am cold and wet, so I get into the sleeping bag to get warm. I plan on leaving tomorrow morning after the morning commute. The rain continues most of the night but then in the early morning, I no longer hear the rain pounding on the roof of the jammer.
(Day 883 TB) 460°F. 6:00 am, cloudy
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake with the sun shining and go in for a cup of hot and to start my journal entry. Last evening, methought about how long that I should stay in the w-mart and determined that it would take about two hours to drive to the area where the rush hour began and that it would be over by ten. Too, methought that I could leave at ten last evening and avoid all the traffic all together but I decided it best not to drive in the dark when it has been raining so hard for so long a time.
Thus, I leave the w-mart at seven-thirty this morning, drive to a ag-mart, fill up with gas, and then drive out of Oak Harbor right at eight this morning, first north on SH 20 to Burlington, then south on IH 5 headed to Seattle and the rush zone. I do arrive in Seattle at ten and except for one short section driving twenty-five mph, the rest of the drive through the city was at 40-55 mph. I was out of Seattle in about an hour and then continued south on the Five, with most of the drive in the sun, albeit, it was partly cloudy and rain at times. Arriving in Portland during mid day, there was not trouble getting through this city and then at exit 278, I take a couple of county roads for six miles and soon arrive at Champoeg state park, drive to the campground and check in.
Next, I plug in to get the charge on my batteries started, then get out my bucket and scrub brush to clean the mold and mildew off of the picnic table. After that, and while it is drying, I grab my soap bag, towel and clean clothes and walk to the shower house. I was hoping that the water was steamy hot but it was not. However, it was the next best and good enough to keep me warm while taking a shower.
After getting the clean on, I walk back to the campsite and set up my stove on the picnic table, boil water and begin preparing my Repast. I add the sprouted grains, chop up a medium beet, some ginger, turmeric, garlic, three large leaves of chard and add to the boiling water. I did not have any onion or it would have gone in chopped as well. Standing here with the tail gate of the jammer open, it comes to me that I am outside doing all this food preparations and not the least bit cold.

Methinks, it is so amazing what just a couple hundred miles will do to change the ambient temperature. It is some much warmer here, well, as least that is how I feel. Or, maybe, it is the fact that I in a state park, have just had a hot shower, have the jammer plugged in with my heater warming the inside up. Still, I feel so much warmer, and that is why I came to a state park in Oregon.
There was enough cooking liquid for me to pour off more than twenty-four ounces, filling my Yeti cup as well as a sierra cup. I drink the sierra cup first, and then pour more steaming hot liquid from the Yeti into the cup several times as I eat my Repast. Life is so good when you have had a hot shower, after which you are drinking hot Repast liquid while eating a wonderful healthy meal.
At about eight this evening, I put away the computer and get into the horizontal for the night. I listen but I do not hear rain pounding down on the roof of the jammer. A smile comes to my face.

Up early and see a slight glow in the sky which is replete with clouds but the ground and roadways are much drier this morning than yesterday when I arrived. There had been a hail storm here in the late morning and the melt was pooling everywhere. After an hour or so of pounding keys, I get out and walk to the shower house and then back to the jammer.
When I return to the jammer, I get out the stove and my cook pot to heat water for coffee and a water bottle of hot Spark. Then, after putting away the kitchen, I get back in the jammer, have a MRP and sip on coffee and Spark while pound keys well into the late morning. At nine this morning, the sun begins to break through the heavy haze and warms up the campground.
I pack out to head down the road, but before I leave the state park, I drive to the historical section where the township once was before the river took it out in 1861. There is not much here short of a pavilion, a monument and some reader cards tell the history. I also stop at the visitors center to see the wheat sifting barn.
Next, I drive south about seven miles to Woodburn and stop at the w-mart to upload files but for some reason, it does not work. Still, I pound keys until the evening and then drive to the d-mart to park for the night. I will drive south tomorrow about ten miles and try another w-mart to see if I can upload files there.

After sleeping in this morning, I dress in my winter blues, drive south on IH 5 to Keiser, Oregon which is a city on the north side of Salem, Oregon, locate the w-mart, park and walk inside. Here, I purchase a cup of hot tea, which is something I have been doing of late, instead of coffee, which is too staining, has to much caffeine and is inflammatory. I choose the green tea which has two of five stars of caffeine and no where near stains as much.
Then, for the rest of the day, I pound keys and upload files to the web site because the internet works for me. At six, I leave and drive to the d-mart here in Keiser but there are signs posted in the parking lot which read No Overnight Parking. I get back on the interstate highway and drive back to Woodburn where I know I will feel safe. Arriving by eight this evening and knowing that the w-mart is open until ten, I drive there first and continue pounding keys until nine-thirty.
I drive to the d-mart and get in to the back for the night.

It is cold this morning but with the sun coming up, the warm recovers quickly. I still dress in my winter blues, then drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot and after I have checked my com, begin another day of key pounding.
The work today is still in the photo gallery, wow, there is so much left to do to get that part of the web site complete. But I continue to pound on and on and on. At seven-thirty, I pack out and drive to the d-mart for the evening.

Rising, I change into my suit, then drive to the ff-mart for coffee and next drive to the assembly hall for the one day assembly.
It has been just over a month from the last equinox and so much has changed with the weather since then. However, today is the first day that I have worn my fall blues instead of my winter blues. Too, it is sunny, warm and the sky blue; I must have commented three or four times during the day about how nice this day is.

As soon as I have received the program, I became aware that I have gone to this same program in San Antonio last November. Still, I find my seat and get ready for another day of spiritual encouragement. And yes it is so much so because I have always said that the program is much better the second time around.
I know absolutely no one when I arrive and by the end of the assembly, I have made a dozen or more new lifetime friends, as one girl put it, eternal friendships. Leaving the I drive to the w-mart and go in to write my journal entry for today.
Gordon sends a text to me saying that he has arrived and we text back a few words before we both need to retire.

Rise, dress in my fall blues, walk into the d-mart and do not feel uncomfortably cold most likely because it is so dry here. The sky has been blue since arrive and look to continue for a bit longer, even warming up somewhat. I drive to the ff-mart for coffee and two biscuits, then drive to the assembly hall, arriving before eight this morning, park, and enjoy my breakfast. The parking lot is empty bur soon after eight, the cars begin to drive in and take their parking spots.
Soon after, I go in to claim my seat, one up near the front and soon Gordon is walking up to me and we catch up for a long time. Then the assembly begins and we take out seats. At lunch, I walk back out to the jammer and Gordon joins me to sit next to the jammer while we each eat what we have brought for lunch. After lunch, we return to the assembly for the afternoon session.

Up, dress in my winter blues, go into the d-mart to comb my hair and brush teeth, then I drive south on IH 5 to the w-mart in Keizer, Oregon where I can upload the files that I have been working on for the last few days. Also, I use one of my rewards for a salad to eat for lunch.
Then at three in the afternoon, I pack out and drive SH 214 out of Keier to Silverton, Oregon where I stop at a g-mart for some salad things for the upcoming week, then as I am leaving town stop at a car wash to clean the jammer.
After putting on the clean, I leave east out of town and drive about ten miles on Silver Falls road to the Silver Lake state park where I check in and set up camp. Since it is suppose to be much warmer for a couple of days, I purchase a bag of ice, ten pounds for two dollars, from the camp host. Once I have the jammer plugged in and the batteries charging, I grab my soap bag, towel and clean clothes and head for the house where showers are had.
I really enjoy the steamy hot water and afterwards, walk back to my campsite to begin cooking supper. While cooking, a pair of Steller′s jays noisily enter my campsite. I immediately grab my camera and some rolled oats, spread the oats on the concrete nearby, and then go back to my cooking supper. Soon, one of the two approaches and when I point my camera, he retreats to a limb just above. I shoot off several shots and get a couple good photos but when the two leave immediately, methinks they will be back early in the morning to get the oats.

Later, when I get hungry, I grab my leftover Repast and finish eating it. In the late afternoon, I prepare a salad to eat with salmon for my evening meal. Upon arriving in Bend, I stop at a w-mart, purchase a cup of hot, connect to the internet to check com and upload my web files. After that is done, I stop at a hg-mart for a few items and then see that all three of the hg-marts are in this town. I stop at each one and find some good bargains at each. Afterwards head to the campground, find space eleven is open and set up my camp. Once I am plugged in with batteries charging, I head to the shower for another round of clean.
Upon returning to the jammer, I open up the rear end and restock my pantry with the new supplies. Also, I make a MRP and have some almond butter with it. As the sun begins to set, I close up the jammer, climb inside and work on finishing my journal entry for today.

Awake to a very cold morning but by eight, it is forty degrees and then walk to the shower for a warm up. Afterwards, I walk back to the jammer to heat a pot of water for breakfast. By nine this morning, I am inside the jammer with the heater warming the outside and the cup of hot warming the inside.
It does not take very long until the heater is turned off and the doors come open. In fact, by ten this morning, the temperature is fifty-five and I decide to go to town to do my laundry. The same place that I went to the last time that I stayed here in this campground. In fact, methinks that I saw the same woman there that would not stop talking, she was outside smoking a cigarette.
After my laundry is done, I drive across the street to a ff-mart and ask if they sell ice. The clerk says, no, but we will give you some. She goes into the back and brings out a ten pound bag, hands it to me which I put it into my cooler and then drive back to the state park. It is about two and really hot so I decide to take a nap. I don′t wake up until after five and the sky is overcast which has dropped the temperature quite a lot. So, I grab my soap bag, my towel and head to the shower house for a warm up.
Afterwards, I get into the jammer and return to pounding keys.

Up one last morning in this state park and forego taking a shower this morning because the water is not steamy hot. I start the jammer, get out to unplug the electric cord, stow it in the jammer, and then drive north on US 97 to Bend, Oregon.
Arriving at the w-mart, I park, grab my cup, computer, neck wallet and go inside for a cup of hot. I then sit down, plug in and begin working on the Shelter photo gallery

The sun shining into my eyes awakens me and I rise to don my winter blues. Then, I start the jammer and drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot, com and key pounding. Early in the morning, it begins to rain and this rain lasts all day so I just stay in the w-mart to keep warm and continue working on the photo gallery.
I do contact Gordon and ask him the time of his meeting Sunday At seven-thirty this evening, I leave, drive to the d-mart and park for the evening. I read for a while and then get horizontal. The rain continues into the night.
(Day 895 TB) 37°F. 7:00 am, cloudy

Awake to the sun shinning into the jammer again because the rain stopped shortly after midnight and the sky now has lots of blue everywhere. I go into the d-mart to comb my hair, brush my teeth and take my blood pressure. Then, I drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot and to do my Bible study for today.
At noon, I pack out, dress and head for the hall for a very good talk and study. Afterwards, I talk with Gordon for a short time and then head back to the w-mart for some more key pounding.
Then, at seven this evening, I pack out and head to the state park just north of Bend, and upon arriving find it full with the exception of one non electric tent site. I choose to park here so that I can stay in the campground and take a shower, or two.

Up after dayspring, grab my soap bag and head to the shower. One of the hosts had told me that the water is normally hotter but the shower had received a lot of visitors during the day yesterday. When I took my shower this morning, I find it still Medium Hot like it was yesterday.
After my shower, I return to the campsite and prepare a cup of hot and a large glass of MRP. Then, I clean up the jammer, pack everything into it′s place and then drive out of the campground back down to Bend where I stop at the w-mart to pound keys and upload files. By noon, I am done with the computer work, pack out to the jammer and head first north on US 97 to Redmond, Oregon, then east on SH 126 to Prineville, Oregon.
I remember this route from the last time I drove it, exactly five years ago on this very day, that was (Day 61 JO). How amazing is that? When approaching Prineville, suddenly the mountain gives way and the highway drops into a torrent valley. I was looking for it to drop away and it did just that again. Too, that was the day that I drove to the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, however, I did not stop at the fossil beds today, instead, I continued on US 26 through Dayville and stop just after passing through Mt Vernon at the Clyde Holliday state park campground.
I pull into the camp, which unlike Tumalo, is nearly empty. Here, I get to drive the loop and take my choice of sites. I choose campsite #20 which is adjacent to the shower house and not far from the check in kiosk.
The first thing that I do is to grab my soap bag and head for the shower house. Like Tumalo, this shower only has medium hot water. Returning from the shower house, I begin preparing my evening Repast and once that is done, I clean up the kitchen, put the cook pot on the drivers seat and then take my seat at my office. With the computer turned on, I begin to pound keys to record today&prim;s journal entry while eating my supper.

Up to the bright light, open the computer to begin my comments in my journal while drinking the broth from last night′s Repast. When the broth is gone, I walk to the shower house for a hot shower, after which, I return to the jammer to put on my hiking shoes.
I go first to the tepees take photos of them, then I walk the river side trail looking for any birds seen on the way. My walk lasts about an hour during which I walk down river to where I see an osprey in a nest atop a tall pole. I find a place to sit down to watch and photograph. The bird keeps popping it′s head up to watch what I do but I keep waiting until it takes flight circles around a couple of times and then lands on the top of the nest. Snap!

Methinks that I should leave here because she probably has an egg or two she is sitting on. In the distance near the river is a second osprey, most likely the mate. I walk away and come upon a pond with a dock, stop here to sit on the bench for a short time before making the return trip to the campsite.
Then, I get out my cook pot and boil water for a cup of hot and sip on the hot while I work on my computer. At noon, I pack out and head west, first to John Day, Oregon and stop at Kam Wah Chung state heritage site. The ranger at Clyde Holiday told me that I should not miss this free tour.
Kam Wah Chung
State Heritage Site
(b1a11-12-09c.20180501.1317) Kam Wah Chung state Heritage Site
Kam Wah Chung, loosely translated means Golden Flower of Prosperity. This site is the Kam Wah Chung & Co building which was once a general store, an apothecary, an herbalist′s office, a place of worship, and a center of Chinese social life.
Today, it is a Oregon heritage site and a National Historical Landmark that commemorates an important era in Oregon history and a memorial to two Chinese American men, Ing Hay and Lung On.
I am so glad I did stop to see this profoundly interesting treasure.
When the tour finishes, I leave for the next campground at Unity Lake state park, arriving at four in the afternoon. When checking the shower to see how hot the water is, I find that the water is turned off. The host sees me and comes to the shower house to tell me that there is a break in the water line and the ranger is working on it as we speak.

Awake early, get dressed in my winter blues, start the jammer, unplug the electric cord and stow it, and then drive out of the state park. My route is to backtrack on SH 245 to US 26, then backtrack west to SH 7 and then begin driving on new pathways and before eight this morning, arrive at a w-mart in Baker City, Oregon. I grab my computer and go inside for coffee, com and uploading to my web site and to do a Facebook post.
Then, I begin looking for the next meeting location and find it to be in La Grange, Oregon tomorrow night so I will drive to Immigrant Springs campground for my shower and place to park tonight. At six this afternoon, I pack out and drive north on IH 84 to exit 234 and arrive at the campground about an hour before dark.
The campground it not busy at all and find an electric site just two spaces from the shower house. I park, hook up the electric, grab my soap bag and walk over to the steaming hot shower. Afterwards, I return to the jammer and eat a large bowl of lettuce while pounding on the keys.
Finally, at nine-thirty, I put away the electronics and get horizontal.

Awake and walk to the shower for another steamy hot shower. I stand for a long time under this hot water letting it warm my body.
Methinks, this is one of my favorite campgrounds simply because it has a two valve faucet with hot water that must needs a little cold for a shower. This allows the person in the shower to adjust the temperature, unlike many of the other parks that have only one valve with the temperature adjusted by the park personnel.

When I am fully warmed from the hot water, I return to the jammer, unplug, start the engine and then drive east on IH 84 to La Grande where I exit and drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and key pounding.
I spend the day at the w-mart and update my Facebook with a new cover photo, one from those which I took at Unity lake and call Mountaintop Forest Aflame with the Sunglow. However, on Facebook, I do not reveal that it is the Sunglow that has the mountaintop aflame. I just wonder how many people will think that it is an actual fire on the mountain?
At six this evening, I pack out so that I can get dressed for the meeting tonight. When I arrive, I find the friends very warm and many greet me. It is such a good thing, being in this fellowship of great people. I even talk with Stewart about joining the friends in the ministry.
Afterwards, I drive to the d-mart for the evening.

I sleep in this morning, and upon getting up, get dressed for the ministry meeting. Then, I drive to the hall, go in and find the south congregation in the back school, so I join them.
Later, I return to the w-mart and pound keys until the store closes at six. I drive north on IH 84 to the state park and set up in a tent site because all the electric sites are taken, this being the weekend. The first thing that I do is to take a hot shower and then go back to the campsite to set up.

Up before the alarm, rise, walk to the shower house for another hot soak, then return to the jammer and drive out of the park. I head south on IH 84 back to La Grande to the w-mart for coffee, com and to do my study for the meeting today.
At eleven-thirty, I pack out to the jammer to eat leftover Repast for my lunch. Then, I get dressed for the meeting and drive to the hall. This south congregation has their meeting at one in the afternoon and arrive shortly after noon to wait.
After the meeting, I drive south on IH 84 just past Huntington, Oregon and stop for the night at Farewell Bend state park campground, arriving at four in the afternoon.
Upon entering, I find the B(rownlee) loop is very busy with lots of RV′s so I go to the C(atfish) loop and find plenty of campsites. In fact the view of the river is so much better in the Catfish loop. I pull into space # 111 which is right next to the shower house. Then, I plug in and eat a salad while I pound keys waiting for the sun set but it is totally unimpressive.

Arise, grab my soap back and walk to the shower house for a farewell shower, yes, when I leave this state park, I will be leaving Oregon and all the wonderfully hot showers. But for now, I linger in the hot water.
When I do leave, I drive southeast on IH 84 and stop in Ontario at the w-mart to upload the files that I have been working on. Then, I continue on IH 84, cross the Snake river and enter Boise where I take the IH 184 spur into Boise to stop at the hg-mart, a w-mart and then finally a d-mart to spend the evening.

At two in the afternoon, I pull into Lava Flow Campground, drive through and choose space 33 which is raised above the surrounding area and has a nice view.
Once the jammer is parked, I take my three gallon bucket and go for water. When I arrive back at camp, I begin washing the jammer including the wheels. When it is clean, I spray the wheels and bumpers with the rubber wet spray. Then, I scrub the windshield and wipe on the water repellant. Next, I take a photo of the jammer all clean and spiffy.

After awaking at four then five this morning to look at the sky and moon, I turn of the six o′clock alarm and sleep in. Then, I get up, put water in the cook pot and set it on the stove. In a little time, I am drinking a cup of hot.
Since the days have been warming up nicely, I decide to stay and extra night and spend all of today doing spring cleaning chores. I begin clean at eight.
Yes, much was done today, first of which, I cleaned the kitchen cabinet inside and out because it really needed cleaning. Then I cleaning the soap and miscellaneous cabinet moving out all the miscellaneous and using the space for my car chemicals which had been up until now on the step shelf and other places; just in the way and taking up space.
I had planned on going through the clothing cabinet, removing most of the extra clothes which went into my back pack. The space vacated by the clothing was the perfect place for the miscellaneous because it is stuff I do not use much and what had bee the clothing cabinet is the hardest cabinet to get to with lots of stuff to move to get into it.
Also, all day, I was putting things in one place which would go into the back pack and then finished packing and load all the gear so that the pack is ready to be used. I even load the necessary food in the bear bag and put it into the pack too. All that is left is to put my two water bottles in the two top side pouches and then I can put the pack on and walk away from the jammer if it ever comes to that.

As the day wears on, I get everything organized and most of it back into it′s place. Up next is to change the engine oil which I do fairly quickly but as I am putting away the jack and tools, a wind storm blows in and and with it some rain. I hurry and get everything stowed away and then walk to the restroom and wash up in the sink after which I return to the jammer and start the engine. It is not until six this evening when I am done and inside the jammer at my desk pounding keys and eating a salad.
The day continues to linger and my battery just does not last, so I turn off the computer, step outside and begin putting new stickers on the windows. I had clean the jammer so methinks, now would be a good time to do that.

Upon rising, I get out the cook pot and boil water. Then I use the water to make a cup of hot and for the first time, I used hot water to make my MRP. I sit at the board and enjoy my hot drink but at eight-thirty I pack out and start the jammer. I drive first to the recycle center to dump my garbage, then to the restroom and finally to the visitors center where I am able to find two bumper stickers for the jammer windows. I watch two videos which are both well done, explaining why Idaho has so much volcanic lands.
I will do more research on this but the continent is drifting southwest at a rate of one inch per year and the Hot spot now under Yellowstone once was under the Snake River valley in Idaho. But as I already wrote above, this is a subject for a future time.
Returning to the jammer, I drive out of the park, turn east on US 20 and do not stop until I arrive in Idaho Falls where I go to a w-mart for a cup of coffee, com and key pounding. Then, I upload the files to my web site and do a Facebook post. In the late afternoon, I leave to get ready for the meeting tonight.
Afterwards, I drive to the d-mart, park and get ready for the night. Outside, the wind increases, the temperature drops and it begins to rain.

At two in the afternoon, I pack out and begin my drive into Montana. I first drive north on US 20, turn left and drive north on SH 87 which goes over Raynolds pass, a continental divide pass at elevation 6844 feet. On the down side I enter Montana and continue on SH 87, cross the Madison river 1 and arrive at US 287 where I turn left heading north on this highway which follows the descending course of the Madison river to where the highway crosses the river and enters Ennis, Montana. I stop here and go into a few stores looking to add to my sticker collection on the jammer and find two places that have stickers, a distillery and a fly fishing store, both which seem to be the main activities here in this small town.
Leaving Ennis, I continue north on US 287 to Norris, Montana where I turn right on SH 84, and immediately see a hot springs along the side of the highway. Methinks, I will check on this location and stop the next time I drive this way.
Continuing on the state highway, I soon arrive in Bozeman, Montana, drive to a Mexican restaurant for supper and then to the d-mart for the night.

Later, I drive to the d-mart and then retire for the evening.

The eastern fork was named for Albert Gallatin, the U.S. Treasury Secretary from 1801–14.
The western fork was named for the President Thomas Jefferson.
