The Osprey Go Down Go Up
Order: Accipitriformes, Family: Pandionidae
Genus: Pandion, Species: haliaetus, L 24 inches, W 66 inches

Range
This species is seen throughout the entire continent. However, it is recovering from near extinction due to pesticide use. Fairly numeral on coasts and has expanded to interior lakes and reservoirs.
Habitat
This bird hunts fish from coasts, lakes and rivers and lives nearby.
Description
The osprey is dark above, white below with a white head and dark eye line, crown and carpal (wrist) patches. Some osprey have a necklace of breast streaks. This species is gull like in shape and buoyancy but has the width like that of an eagle.
Glides on crooked wings, dives talons first after spotting fish from a perch or while hovering and gliding. Accepts man made platforms or poles and then builds huge stick nests.

Then, I drive north to Madison Junction, and all along, I see an unending flow of traffic into this nation park. I turn left at the junction and drive east towards West Yellowstone but stop at the Madison River crossing picnic area to set up my stove, boil water and make my breakfast. Shortly afterwards, I see an osprey land in atop a tree on the opposite side of the Madison river.
I roll down the passenger window, point my camera and zoom to the furthest position and begin taking photos. I have to lean my arm on the passenger seat back to keep the camera from shaking and I take many photos, some of which I believe will be quite clear. Then, the bird dives toward the water but at the last moment, pulls up and flies to another tree down river.

It is not until about ten this morning when I arrive at the highway and begin a very familiar route through northwest Wyoming. My first stop is at the Warren Bridge over the Green River where I stop and take photos of the two osprey in the nest atop the bridge. Then, I pull into the Warren Bridge campground to prepare my lunch, take a few more photos and finally continue north on US 191. The highway then climbs up into Bridger-Teton National Forest over the summit near the Rim Station, which I normally stop at but do not do so today. Continuing north, US 191 follows the Hoback river downstream all the way to the Snake river at Hoback Junction.

The 2020 Journey, Osprey Go Down Go Up
Thursday, 04 June 2020, Rock Springs, WY.
(Day 653 TG) 58°F. 6:30 am, sunny
Arriving at the Warren Bridge campground, I set up my campsite, catch up on my journal writing and a little later, I go for a walk, see and photograph: two bald eagles, a osprey nest, a robin, and a tree swallow. I also take a few photos of the Warren Bridge. I next, return to the jammer and pound keys until about eight, when I stop, set outside with my camera and take photos of the sunglow and the full moon.

Then, I walk to the bridge but do not see any osprey in the nest. However, I do photograph the large nest.

Goose Island State Park, TX
While camped at Goose Island state park, I join a ranger lead bird watch hike and while walking alongside the waterfront, an Osprey begins diving into the water looking to catch a fish. After about ten minutes of unsuccessful tries, he finally comes up with his breakfast and begins to fly back to the woodland area.
The first think that he does is to turn the fish around so as to point the fish′s head into the wind, which the ranger says makes it more aerodynamic. I have trouble trying to snap this shop and have to take several before one shows to be clear.
